Is there a way to get a list of ODBC drivers that are installed on a Windows XP machine from .NET?
I basically would like to see (in .NET) what is in:
Control Panel->Administrative
Tools->Data Sources (ODBC)->"Drivers"
Tab.

I currently connect to a MySQL database using the ODBC MySQL 5.1 Connector, how would I be able to detect if the driver is installed before a connection attempt?

View 1 RepliesI'm using the Microsoft Excel Driver to import an Excel document into a adodb.recordset so that I can remove duplicate rows and put it into the SQL Server database.
The first column has values like 192, 13U, JJJ, etc. but for some reason the query casts it as a double value, and any rows with alpha values get converted to Null. From what I can tell this is because the Majority type is numeric instead of text.
I tried casting it, but got an error.
Here's my function:

I have VB Application and VB dll. I am retrieving the data using MS ODBC and through VB application and passing it to VB dll. Dll is then processing the data and inserting the data into Oracle 10g database. Dll uses OraOledb driver. Now when i retrieve the data in my web-page which uses MS ODBC, it displays the data as garbled.

I'm currently doing a project that includes access 2010 My question will be what driver can I use for an access 2010 *.accdb type file? For a *.mdb it works perfectly well with
ConnString ="Driver={Microsoft Access Driver (*.mdb)};Dbq=" & Application.StartupPath & "\CITSDB.mdb;Uid=Admin;Pwd=123;"
But, when I changed the mbd to accdb:

It resulted in errors:

And then it shows me that my code for

I knew it must be the driver but I don't know what accdb driver I can use for the connstring.

In VS 2008, VB.Net, I am successful connecting to a local SQL Server (version 8) and seeing all tables/views/procedures in Server Explorer. The local OS is Win XP Pro SP3. I created an ODBC data source to a remote SQL server (also version 8) with a database of the same structure as the local one. The connection tests out ok. The remote computer runs Windows Server 2000 SP4. In the VS 2008 Server Explorer I add this ODBC source. When I click on the plus-signs to expand items, neither the tables nor the views show anything, whereas the full list of procedures appears. Is it the old SQL Server version? Is it the old Server OS version? Something else alltogether?

View 1 RepliesI'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

I created a program that uses DPinst to install a driver and now I need to figure out how to tell the user that it is safe to close the program once the driver is install as the driver takes longer on some machines to install. I have a small vb.net application that fires a crystal report through crystal viewer.
The report uses an ODBC connection provided by 32-bit software accounts package, which is installed in the ODBC 32-bit This all works fine on 32-bit XP and 32-bit Win7 with no problems, When run on a win7 64-bit machine the application launches ok, but when it comes to running the report, it prompts for a database logon box for the odbc connection.
When the report is run seperate on its own, on the exact same pc through crystal reports desginer it runs fine, Its almost like the application is not picking the 32-bit ODBC set up is it the case that the connection needs to be coded rather than using the report connection,
i am new to vb .net i just want to ask why is it i don't see the odbc data adapter in the toolbox pane? i just have (under data) pointer, dataset, datagridview, bindingsource, and binding navigator.

View 1 RepliesIm working with a CD722UN Customer Display for our POS application. it comes with a USB2.0 connection and a installation package containing a driver etc. now, for my application. how should i do when i want to access this driver? at the moment i'm using the "CD722UN application"s .dll path but that can wary from clients OS etc. [Code] my first thought was to first check if there was a device installed in the device manager and somehow use the driver from there?
