I have been using the internet to figure out how to INSERT into MySQL database. Im almost there I can feel it. Below is the code I put together, but when I click on the button and check the database to see if the data was inserted, it has not.

I'm connecting to my mysql server using ODBC in vb.net, the database is shared throughout the company because it is used in an accounting program (simply accounting), each user has their own account user/pass to login to the database. I have developped a program that uses the accounting database and combines it with other information, my problem is that at least once a day I get this error when I run my program: "(10061) ERROR [HY000] [MySQL][ODBC 3.51 Driver]Can't connect to MySQL server on"and the error persists for at least 4 hours, for some reason it starts to work again later on in the day.

I'm developing a small project (just for learning, I'm not a pro) which involves creating software which could be used by a store owner for invoice generation. It involves storing all the store's products in a MySQL 5.5 database. Visual Studio 2008 is used for front end (Project was started in VS2005, later converted). MySQL ODBC Driver 5.1 is used for connection purposes. I'm still a student and haven't been able to learn .NET yet. So, I used the following link to connect the Database and the interface. I'm able to obtain all the data from the database like 'Product Name', 'Price' etc on the VB's forms through labels.
Now, for the purpose of invoice generation, the data in the labels i.e, 'Product Name' and 'Price' should be added to another table named 'Cart' whenever a button named 'Add to Cart' is pressed. How can I implement it? I mean, could anyone provide me with a code snippet that fetches the data being displayed in the labels and adds it to another table through 'INSERT' statement? P.S Basically what I need is a code snippet in VB that lets me execute an SQL query(any one like INSERT or SELECT or UPDATE) when a button is pressed in a form.

I've downloaded the ODBC driver and the MySQL driver and installed them on my system (Win XP SP3). However, the only data sources that are showing up when I try to add a data connection are Access & 2 SQL Server objects. Is there something else that needs to be setup in order for Visual Studio to allow additional data sources? I'm currently running VS 2010 Express.

I have a small vb.net application that fires a crystal report through crystal viewer.
The report uses an ODBC connection provided by 32-bit software accounts package, which is installed in the ODBC 32-bit This all works fine on 32-bit XP and 32-bit Win7 with no problems, When run on a win7 64-bit machine the application launches ok, but when it comes to running the report, it prompts for a database logon box for the odbc connection.
When the report is run seperate on its own, on the exact same pc through crystal reports desginer it runs fine, Its almost like the application is not picking the 32-bit ODBC set up is it the case that the connection needs to be coded rather than using the report connection,

I have been disturbed for a week now. I have a project in vb.net. And on forms I have two masked text boxes. One is for the user to enter their date of birth and in the second one Iam trying to get the date the record is created. With this one I get the current date from pc and format it to dd/mm/yyyy because I want the user to understand the date. How do I INSERT the user date of birth and the the Now () date which is also in masked text box into a MYSQL database? I know how to insert other text but the date fails to appear in database.

For the last couple of days I've been having problems inserting data into my MySQL database. I'm using parameters to insert the data and have done so in the past without any problems, but for some reason I haven't been able to get it to work this time.I have a form that the user inputs data to be inserted into the database. This data is then pushed into an array and sent to my class (CastProduction.VB) via a Public Sub. The data than pushed into a datarow and than pushed into a datatable. Once this is done I send the dataset and sql insert statement to a private sub that inserts the data into the database.

An example is there are 20 items in the listview and only 8 out of the list actually insert to the mysql database. It's as if the loop runs too quickly for MySQL to keep up. My issue is that eventually this loop will be inserting many thousands of entries and I can't have it missing information out.

When I use the single and double quotes, as it is above , I get this error: Quote: Incorrect date value '21/10/2009' for column StartDate at row 1
when I remove the single quotes and have only the double ones I get a completely different thing. The date inserted to the database is 01/01/0001. Even if my datetimepicker has a min and max date. Also if someone has any good links on using mysql with vb.net

I am developing a portion of an application that deals with settings reminders and alarms for personal notes. I am trying to insert from a formatted datetimepicker( formatted to show time only ) the time a user wants to get a reminder of something he/she wants. The column in the MySql database is of type 'Time'. I was never succesfull in entering and saving the data. Either I was getting validation problems not allowing me to exit the datetimepicker after I choose the time. To resolve this issues I just made 'false' the option 'causes validation'. Now the problem is that the time is not inserted getting problems saying that :
