Import Data From Windows Application Form To Excel,CSV Files?
Jan 8, 2009
I am using Datagridview and ListView Controls in my windows desktop application using vb.net.I want to Import data directly to Excell sheet and CSV file directly from form.
I am exporting the contents of one excel file data to the other excel file by using the range excel object in a windows application. while declaring the object, am getting the error like type excel object is not declared. [Code]
My application is often used to import volumes of data. The application currently supports .CSV, .XML, and XLS. The question relates to handling EXCEL files. Specifically, what are the best practices for coding?
Today, since customers are beginning to see .XLSX files coming in, I modified the code to use either JET.OLEDB.4.0 or .ACE.OLEDB.12.0 depending on whether it was reading an .XLS or an .XLSX. My instincts tell me that cannot be the correct way to go about this. First, customers still using Office 2003 are going to have to download the AccessDatabaseEngine in order to read the .XLSX files. Second, what if a customer installs Office 2010? Are they going to have the 12.0 stuff or am I now faced with another issue.
I am using data grid view in Vb.net and would like to load two excel files into it. My two excel files look like this:
[Code]...
The problem I want to solve is the following:I would like to map the values from the data set in file 2 to the sorted data set from file 1. So for example If I want to sort all the data by id# descending then (using the example from above) the data in datagrid view1 and in datagridview2 should be reversed.
Right now if I sort the column from file1 in datagrid view all the other columns in THIS datagridview1 are also sorted in relation to column2. What I want is that the columns in file2 will also sort according to file1.
I am writing a Windows service to import data from CSV files dropped into a directory. One of the steps is to load an XML file with validation rules which I load into a List(Of T). It will pull the data, and then I have it pass the list to a class that monitors the folder and processes the files. After that I clear the list and read in the next file configuration. Now I have noticed that the validation rules aren't matching up and it seems that the list is being passed as a reference type even though the signature is of a value type.Is there anything I can do to get around this?
[Code]...
So here when I pass it, at first it will have 3 validation rules in the new ImportService class I created, but when I call fields.Clear(), it wipes out the class member of the ImportService class.
I am converting several VBA projects to Windows form applications. The only problem I have is that some of the functionality of Excel is essential to the application, such as R1C1 formulas. I do not want to instantiate the Excel application or access saved worksheets. All of the data is retrieved by querying Oracle databases. 2-Dimensional arrays are not an option because the columns contain differing datatypes, and DataGridViews are too slow to work with.
I thought simply dimming a Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.Worksheet object would be enough, but the program kept failing and upon inspecting the object's elements in debug mode, I found that every value says this:
{"Unable to cast COM object of type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel.WorksheetClass' to interface type 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel._Worksheet'. This operation failed because the QueryInterface call on the COM component for the interface with IID '{000208D8-0000-0000-C000-000000000046}' failed due to the following error: No such interface supported (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80004002 (E_NOINTERFACE))."}
I have two, soon to be many spreadsheet files. There are cell references between the files which need to be updated. I would write this in a excel macro but these spreadsheets are design tables for Solidworks, a CAD system and it does not allow macro enabled workbooks. So what I would like to do is push a button and open all of the spreadsheets, accept the update workbook prompt then save and close the files.
I've seen a similar command developed by someone using the Soildworks API but updating design tables in solidworks takes ALOT of time to run compared to just opening and closing spreadsheets.I am using Visual Studio 2010 Beta 2 along with Excel 2010 Beta 2 (I like to have the new things)
Can I Post a Windows Application that uses Excel for live data calculations? Basically from the Windows app, a user makes a menu selection and which in turn opens an excel file in memory using it for calculations. These files are put together by different groups and formatted for the Windows app to build interfaces based on each file.I also accompany an .mdf file as well. Is all this possible for customers to access and run this with Windows Azure.
how I could go about making a simple little program in Visual Basic 2010 that has a button you click with drop down menu beside it to search for an excel or sql file on your computer and then you select it. Then you click a button saying "import into sql" or a different button saying "export to excel."
These buttons would of course do what they say... either importing the chosen excel file into sql or exporting the sql file into excel.
i have a datagrid view, how can i use this or another item from toolbox to import and make excel files? if possible, include some coes that will make it work,I like...Understandable Answers

Does anyone has a sample code that do like,Open and select excel file and select the exact excel sheet to import then connect to SQL server 2008 and append all the data from the certain sheet to the SQL table?
I'm trying to imports excel data into sql database. I'm using excel 2007 connecting to sql 2005. my code:
Dim myPath As String = "c:\sample.xlsx" Dim dsData As New DataSet Dim dt As New DataTable
[Code].....
An error has occurred while establishing a connection to the server. When connecting to SQL Server 2005, this failure may be caused by the fact that under the default settings SQL Server does not allow remote connections. (provider: SQL Network Interfaces, error: 26 - Error Locating Server/Instance Specified)
I need to import data from excel to sql. I use Microsoft SQL serverManagement Studio Express(2005) and Visual Studio 2010.
I have tried many sql queries but nothing works for me.
using this: INSERT INTO dbo.MyTable SELECT * FROM OPENROWSET('Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0', 'Excel 8.0;Database=C:Documents and SettingsMyNameDesktopmyspreadsheet.xls', [Sheet1$])
I have to write an application in Visual Basic.Net that will open an excel file, run through the contents an export a test file for processing.
The application works great for me (Windows 7) but when transferred to a WinXP PC gives the following error: HResult 0X800A03EC
I can replicate this error by making the Excel Application visible so it seems like it is an issue where it can't access the file because it is open. Error occurrs when trying open the workbook.
Original Code Dim excel As Excel.Application Dim wb As Excel.Workbook
I am currently using vb 2008 and access 2003 as back end database. I am trying to import excel data to a data table. my excel and access table header & columns are same. I was trying to do this.........
I am trying to import data from an excel file but the spreadsheet name is causing problem. If I use 'Sheet1' as the name of the spreadsheet from which I want data, then it works fine but I want to change the name of the spreadsheet to the name which has spaces like 'PROJECT SHEET'. Please guide
Dim ExcelFile As String = "C:ProjectFile.xlsx" Dim myDatabasePath as string = "C:ProjectsDatabase.mdb" Dim excelConnectionString As String = "Provider=Microsoft.ACE.OLEDB.12.0;Data Source=" + ExcelFile + ";Extended Properties=""Excel 12.0 Xml;HRD=NO""" Dim excelConnection As New OleDbConnection(excelConnectionString) excelConnection.Open()
I have created an application that can store employees details, that part is not a problem and frankly is sorted, I have used a sql database to save my data, all information is displayed in TextBox controls on my main form.
The part I am struggling with is creating 2 buttons.
The first button I want to be able to import data from an excel file into my data set
The second button I want to create is a back-up button, which exports all the data from my dataset into an excel file
I'm creating a windows application using visual studio. My code is in visual basic. I want to enter a "Browse" button where the user will click on it and select an excel file from his computer. Then,for each column of the excel file, I want to create an arraythat will contain the same data with the column.Only the first sheet will be necessary and it will have specific number of collumns. I won't know the number of the rows, I will be needing a counter for these as well. My object is to have these data as arrays and to be able to make some calculations.
I use VB 2008 express edition. how to import data from an excell sheet into VB but i couldn't find anything and therefore I decided to ask for help here. Firtly, let me explain you my "problem". Let's say we have an excell sheet with a number in the A2 cell and another number in the B3 cell. I want to make a program in VB that makes calculations with the values in the A2 and B3 cell of the sheet. Tis is just an example though. Of course I want to do more copmlicate things than doing calculations between those 2 numbers...
have anyone tried importing specific column of an excel sheet to an sql database?i have tried importing data from excel and it worked but my problem is i want to import only specific columns from my excel file not necesarily importing all the columns..
I'm creating a VB.Net application that stores data in a SQLite backend. The data comes in excel workbooks that the user can import from. Each workbook has one worksheet (about 30,000 rows) that gets reformated a bit and imported to a new table. What's the most efficient way to do this?
I'm currently reading in the entire range from Excel into a 2D array. Looping over the rows in this array and adding each row to a long SQL statement that gets executed every thousand rows. But this is painfully slow both on the looping through the array bit and the pushing to the SQLite step.
Code below: 'First open the xls reformater book and read in our data Dim xlApp As New Excel.Application Dim xlWorkBook As Excel.Workbook
I have a problem with the function below. If anybody knows of a simpler way to accomplish the same results,The problem that I have with this function is that sometimes, not always, it keeps the Excel process running and when this happens I can run the function again until I kill the Excel process manually.
Another problem with this function is that it is slow if the Excel sheet contains a lot of data.
And also I can't get this function to read all the sheets in the Excel workbook and put the contents of each sheet in a separate data table in my dataset.
While trying to import my excel data into sql express database using following:
Dim excelConnection As System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection = New System.Data.OleDb.OleDbConnection("Provider=Microsoft.Jet.OLEDB.4.0;DataSource=d:/test/Places.xls;Extended Properties=Excel 8.0;")
I'm currently trying to import data from an Excel document to a list in Visual Basic 2010 Express. The Idea is to have the data easily modifiable by the users. I have looked quite a bit online and all of the examples seem to reference either an "Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel" or "Imports Excel". When I try to use the I get "(no correction suggestions)".
I am trying to import and read data in from an Excel file that is being updated every half second by way of a DDE Link from RSLinx Gateway,which I think is a default setting, though that data only changes every few minutes. There are 5 rows and 8 columns of data that I am reading in.Each column is a different tester starting with the second row, Testers 1 through 7. The first column has titles that describe the data coming in from the DDE links.
Each column has 5 rows of data related to the tester.I know how to display the data which I will post my code for below, but as far as reading the data and determining whether or not the part was good or bad, based on a boolean value, I am stuck.I would also like to save the data into a different excel file after determining the status of the part so that we can look at past data.
to setup daily import of data from excel file into SQL database - preferrably through Visual Studio project (Visual Basic 2008). The problem is that I wouldn't know the name of the excel sheet. The excel file is created daily from different software and depending on amount of data on certain day - could have the sheet named as "Rows 1 to 5000" or "Rows 1 to 15582" and so on - therefore can't use 'Sheet1'. What is the easiest way to import data into SQL table? I'm still learning SQL and Visu
