Insert New Page With Formatting And Bookmarks Into A Word Document Using VB Word
Jul 13, 2009
I have document, with numerous pages, that will populate at key locations using a UserForm and bookmarks. One of the pages in the document may need to be repeated. In other words, one of the pages may need to be populated more than once (and inserted successively in the document).
The troublesome page has bookmarks that will need to be repopulated with different information for every new instance within that same document.
I am considering making a table with the verbage in the "Troublesome Document" located in a Table. When I need to repopulate a new instance of that page, I think I should:
1. populate the document
2. copy and paste the wording in a new page
3. insert the new page (without bookmarks yet maintaining formatting) before the "Trouble Document"
4. repeat steps 1-3 for every necessary instance
5. delete the "Trouble Document" with the Table
The application I support is creating an amalgamted Word document by copying couple of Word documents in one document right after each other. The problem is the format of the some of the fields of the document that gets appended is changed in amalgamated document while the amalgamated document is the copy of AppendDocument (imagine if we have one document to copy in the amalgamated document)
I am using Windows XP, Word 2007. Does someone know of a quick method to add a page in the middle of a document via a userform button? This new page will have formatting and verbage in it that will supplement the existing document. But, the new page will only be necessary when the command button is pressed.
I am having tremendous difficulty getting word automation to insert a page break in my document. The app is generating letters in word and saving them....the code below shows where I am writing the first page (str.tostring) then all of the code after that are the various ways that I have tried to insert a page break so that it will go to the second page and I can unload information into the second page of the document. Basically in visual basic 6 I could access word tables in existing templates with the code owordactivedoc.tables(1).select() where owordactivedoc refers to the active word document and tables(1) refers to the first table in the template.Trying the same code in VB 2003 just leads to errors. Secondly how do I access bookmarks or alternatively word variables.Furthermore how do one deploy web.services. For example the current program I am building is for another computer. Simply copying the web service to Inetpubwwwroot dont work because it is not picked up by the Internet Information Services program. I have to create the web service in vb2003 on the other computer change msconfig manually. Copy and paste the existing service vb file in the created folder replacing the empty vb file.
I am automating Word from VB.Net.I open a document by:
Dim msWord as Word.Application = CreateObject("Word.Application") Dim doc As Word.Document = msWord.Documents.Add(Template:=Path)
where path points to a template file I created with a header and a watermark. The template has some bookmarks which I want to dynamically set to some appropriate text values:
doc.Bookmarks("DocumentTitle").Range.Text = "The Joy of Office Automation"
If I comment out that line, the document opens in Word with the watermark, etc, in place. If I let that line execute, it inserts the text as appropriate, but the watermark and other things disappear from the document. You can actually see it flash briefly, and then disappear.FWIW, this is Office Word 2007, and I am opening a .Dot (Word 97-2003) template. The Bookmark.Range.Text I am setting is in the document header.

We have an interactive windows based application written in VB .Net 2010. It uses Word Object to display documents in MS Word. We have a form with a button. When the button is clicked we open the Word document and maximize the Word Windowstate. When we have the Visual Studio Tool running, the Word Document is maximized and has focus, even if we are running the exe from the bin folder outside of the tool. However, if Visual Studio is not running and we run the exe, focus remains on the original form window and the document stays in the task bar.
I have been trying to figure out how to read paragraph content which exists a heading. The heading itself is part of the table of contents. The heading will have a particular style (say Heading 1). For example: "Introduction" is a entry in Table of content with style Heading 1. I want to read content under heading "Introduction" but not any more content (i.e not content under sub headings of Introduction) I have been trying to do this using styles/style, TableofContent, Paragraphs/Paragraph,Range. Still cannot come up with a effective solution. I am working in VB.NET in VS 2010. I am using the word 2007 object model (office 2007 interop) as [URL]
I have a VB.net application that gets data off our server with ODBC and populates and saves a Word Document. When I try to deploy it to another computer it will get the data just fine and populate the first document, but it will crash before saving it. I've installed the .net framework 4.0, Microsoft Data Access Components, and the Microsoft ODBC .net data Provider. The error code is 0xC0000005, which is from what I can see is called an "Access Violation Exception." It works fine on my computer.
I'm trying to read a word document for the purpose of obtaining a word count, I realise Word has built in functionality for presenting a word count but I want to write a little app that will omit certain parts of the document from the word count.
So far I have tried this code to open the document but I am getting an error 'Word.Document cannot be found' and 'Microsoft.Office.Interop cannot be found'. I have added a reference to the Microsoft Office 12.0 Object Library under the COM tab. I have Office 2007 installed and I'm using VB2005.
Imports Microsoft.Office.Interop Dim appWord As New Microsoft.Office.Core.Application Dim docWord As New Word.Document docWord = appWord.Documents.Open("c: est.doc")
show me the way to insert autoshape in a word document. I am using VS 2005. I stumble upon this for an hour.I'm not good at COM objects, not quite familiar on how-to's on them. Please give me a little light on this.
I am not sure if this is the best place to post this comment, but here goes. I am setting up a document in MS Word 2007 and would like to have a checkbox at the bottom of a certain page that is enabled when true to insert a page break, copy the page above and then insert the copied page into the new page that has just been created.I have got the checkbox in from the developer tab, opened up the Microsoft Visual Basiceditor and got it to insert a page breakhen it is selected (checked)iving the new page.
I am struggling with changing the Page Orientation of a WORD document I am creating programatically using VB.NET 2005.I need to change the orientation from Portrait to Landscape after the first page of the WORD document is created.I create a WORD document (2007) successfully and then begin to populate the WORD document with report information (taken from reading a text file and writing some if it to the WORD document)...I am using COM Microsoft WORD 12.0 Object Library....After the first page, the document needs to be changed from a PORTRAIT orientation to LANDSCAPE orientation.Since my application is generating several WORD documents from this one text file, it needs to be done programatically.provide assistance with small example of (writing text to word...page break...change orientation to landscape)?
I need to open an MS Word document and insert a picture to it using VisulaBasic 2008 by clicking on a button. I tried the automation code provided at this link [URL] but I can't find how to do what I want.
I am trying to build a report from vb.net, and here is
Dim oWord As Word.Application Dim oDoc As Word.Document Dim oTable As Word.Table
The problem is, if the data in the for each loop extends to next page, I want the entire data in for loop to move to next page. I think of adding a page count integer and verify it with starting and ending to determine and change the page. The problem is I dont know how to insert a page break at a specified line number. page break is Word.WdBreakType.wdPageBreak but how to insert it at a line number?
I am having trouble with automatically filling a table in word from a asp.net app - i use bookmarks in the next top row to determine what data should be inserted into the columns of my tables. However, i am having trouble in getting the individual cells bookmarks and get all the bookmarks from the row instead. This is fine if i have one bookmark in each column as i can use the 3rd bookark and assume that is from the 3rd column, but if i were to have 2 bookmarks in one column, how would i know which column it was that contained the 2 bookmarks? Here is my code that returns all bookmarks for the row even though i am selecting a single cell; and therefore using bookmarks(1) - always the same bookmark(the one in the leftmost
I'm trying to develop a Mail Merge using Bookmarks in a word template (1 page doc). It works ok for the 1st record from a datatable (source of data for bookmarks), and then just piles the other records into the same bookmarks. After the 1st insertion I need the code to goto the end of the doc, insert a page break and append a fresh copy of the template for the next insertion. The mail merge could have many 1 page letters in it.
strTemplateDir = Trim(txtDocument.Text) wrdApp = CreateObject("Word.Application") wrdApp.documents.add(strTemplateDir) 'open new word doc based on template 'make it the active doc
i have a problem in locating bookmarks which are defined inside the table cell. Each table cell in my word document can contain multiple textboxes. I need to fill text in each of these textboxes using word automation. I tried placing bookmarks inside these textboxes for each cell and tried to replace using Word Automation. But unfortunately, i cant locate / replace the bookmark using the following lines:
cell.Range.Bookmarks.get_Item(ref oBookmark).Select(); //this is throwing exception as it couldnt find bookmark in cell.Range.Bookmarks list.cell.Application.Selection.InsertAfter("New Text");
We are opening a Word document from our Visual Basic 2010 application using the Word object. When we run our application under Windows Server 2008 the document name is truncated in the main window title for the document. This is not the case when we run our application under Windows XP. Is there a way to prevent this truncation under Windows Server 2008?Mary Leathem
It's not a coding problem. I can't seem to copy my coding in to word without it losing all of the colour. Is there any easy way that I can copy and paste this code in to word without it losing all of the formatting?
I already exporting contents of my datagridview to excel and word but I need to format one of the column of my datagridview. That column is "Amount". In my datagridview, it displays like this "122234". I want to display all the value in that column in this format: "122,234.00". I already tried to format it to number("N") in my datagridview but when I exported it to excel and word, it shows no format.[code]
I'm having some difficulty merging multiple word documents together using Microsoft Office Interop Assemblies (Office 2007) and ASP.NET 3.5. I'm able to merge the documents, but some of my formatting is missing (namely the fonts and images).
