I have a datagridview view that looks like this SeriaId | ProductName | Model | Manufatcurer The datagridview starts with all cells empty.(or is there something else i can use instead of grid view?) The user will enter data in each of the columns. The number of rows the user enters changes(is unknown). The user could enter only one product or five products.
So, once the user has entered all the products he has to enter, i want that when he clicks a button, all products will be saved to the database. A check should also be performed for correct details, and if its possible, the use of stored procedures would be better

I am looking for a howto or someone expert in ADO.NET who can explain me how to properly solve the following scenario:I have two datatables in a dataset:
ParentTable (ParentID, Name) for user data ChildTable (ParentID, ActivityID, ...) for schedule data
Tables are linked together at the database level by ParentID which is an Identity column in ParentTable.
Both tables are data bound to a separate DataGridView on the GUI. There supposed to be a "1 parent/N children" relationship between the tables, meaning if I create a new entry in the ParentTable (a new user) I get a clean DataGrid in the child grid to type schedule data for the user. So I setup two DataAdapters for each table to fill their result into a DataSet. I also set up a DataRelation object and assign it to the DataSet to link the two tables by their ParentID columns. Also when I add a row into the ChildTable via DataGrid I use SetParentRow to set the parent row.

i have a datagridview (dgv) and created an empty datatable (dt) and set dt as dgv.datasource. dgv is set to allow users to add new rows.so, when i write data in any cell in dgv this row becomes first row, and a new one is added. then i want to save this data in database (cursor is in the first (edited row)); i pass dt to method that does the saving, but the problem is that dt contain no rows.if i move cursor to next row (new row in this case) then dt contains first dgv row. well, i want my cursor to stay in the edited row and my dt to be updated. so, how to do it?[code]

I need to read data from a Excel sheet, manipulate it and send it back to another sheet. One of
things I need to do is to duplicate each row in a dataviewgrig but when Im inserting a row, I get an
error in VB2010 stating that rows cannot be added when the datagridview is bonded.
Whats the workaround, if any?

I'm trying to import rows from one db to another, basically it something to do with this SQL:
SELECT * INTO [MSAccess;DATABASE=C:MainDB.mdb;].[Header] FROM [Header] WHERE ID=9
As it returns this error: Could not find installable ISAM.

I have a form with :
1. 1 Combobox with User1, User2, User3.....User10
2. 1 DataGridView with one column in Combobox columnstyle (with User1,User2,User3.....User10).
My problem is:
I want to insert rows and the combobox for each row have to show the same user I set to the normal combobox.
Example: The normal combobox have "User1" as value....I want my new row have the "User1" selected and showed inside the columncombobox
The normal combobox have "User3" as value. Now I want the new row have the "User3" selected and showed inside the columncombobox. For now, if I change value in the combobox. My new row have the columncombobox value set to blank and if I click on it. I can see all the user inside.....

i have a button and 2 text boxes to insert datai have a button and 2 text boxes to read the datait seems that when i insert a row, it is not being inserted as the very next row. or at least it is not reading it in order1st. I add rws with the values (2 columns in table) 1 and 1, then 2 and 2, then 3 and 32nd. I read the rows, the do not come up in order 1 and 1, then 2 and 2, then 3 and 3. I will get somethign like 1 and 1, then 3 and 3, then 2 and 2,it does read it the same way each time i read it.

I am making a game and decided to add a high score section. I currently have this code setup to insert and read from the database, I set the insert code to a bottom just for testing purposes.[code]There are three columns in the database rank, score and name. I set the rank to auto number so the database would assign the player rank automatically, how would I go about inserting the score into the relevant place inside the database and moving the other scores to their new relevant places?

I have a TableAdapter created where one column.identity is set to true with an autoincrement.My problem arise when trying to insert a row at run-time. The following is my code and the error message I am trying to over come.[code]"The column cannot be modified. [ Column name = RecordNumber ]" I am not trying to edit that column name. I set it to true identity so I don't have to keep track of record numbers that may be deleted later on. I have a vb.net web application and when a particular function runs , i get data timeouts in the rest of the application..(ie..row not found errors or column does not belong to table but it does) The function is adding multiple rows in multiple tables in the database and is running in a for loop. It seems to be all SQL related but I am not seeing anything in the error logs in SQL or in the application Right now I am assuming it is memory related where to start note..the for loop will be replaced with a bulk insert but right now I jest need to resolve the issue of the timeouts

I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.

I had to add another table into my database and now I need to go back and update a page that allows inserts into more than one table. I didn't write this page, so I'm trying to clean everything up, but there are some parts that I don't really understand. Now I have broken the page and it only inserts into one table. The very first one that I insert into.ProductName: goes into the Product table.Description: goes into the Picklist table as Data.....it also is supposed to generate an insert into the marketing table based on the PicklistID which is an identity column. The marketing table tells the Picklist table that it is looking for a description. [code]
Like I said before, only the insert that goes into the Product table works. Before I added the Picklist table and tried to reconnect everything, this entire page worked. The code was a lot sloppier and didn't have parameters, so that could also be where I messed up since I am still trying to learn how to use them. I have gotten everything to INSERT except for the INSERT to the Marketing table.

I wish to insert a row into an SQL table a multiple number of times. The only field that will change is the Primary key ID which will update automatically.
To enter the INSERT into a loop seems very inefficient (time). The only other way I can find to do this is build up an array of values and do a multiple INSERT but again this seems very inefficient (memory) when the values will all be identical.
Is there a way of saying insert this row a variable number of times?

I am using vb.net and sqlite as database. I am using below scenario to insert multiple records in database using a single query.
INSERT INTO TableName (FirstCol, SecondCol)
SELECT 'First' ,1
UNION ALL
SELECT 'Second' ,2

SELECT 'Third' ,3

For less records it is working very well.But when I am inserting about 800 records at a time, executenonquery is throwing the following exception:

I have a web portal designed in ASP.NET in which we ask customers to enter the data. On the click of submit button all i have done is, just read the data and called a stored procedure which inserts that into a table. There seems to be a problem in SQL Server 2005 while inserting the data from multiple computers at the same time. We have tested in our lab with three computers, result is that we get the data inserted successfully in only one machine and on the other two machines we get error on page. I have used transactions in the stored procedure and also tried setting the isolation levels to READ_UNCOMMITTED, SERIALIZABLE and SNAPSHOT. Nothing seems to work properly.

I have a piece of code that works for adding multiple rows to a dataset but I think that it is a lot of code and thought maybe someone may know a better way of doing it. I need to add rows to the dataset based on the selection of a combo box. ie if the user selects 15 the the program adds 15 rows to the dataset.

I am new to vb.net as well as programming. (Windows application) I have only one data grid, one submit button on form. Datagrid has three columns name, age, salary
User will enter data directly in a row of datagrid. After clicking on save button data will get displayed in grid as well as stored in database.
User also can update data in any row, just by changing cell data of selected row and clicking on save button.
How I can update data in datagrid just by above way? How to guess which row data has changed? If user changes data in multiple rows, how to update multiple rows in this scenario? Can I have to take one extra column in database?
