How to know if the input box did not put anything . I must still put zero in the inputbox so I cannot make a condition that only 1 - 10 is allowed. I need the zero value so how can I identify if that inputbox gives empty result so that I can prompt a msgbox saying you did not put anything?
Is there any workaround to the input box sending an empty string when you press cancel? I have a web research function on my program:
Private Sub Button17_Click_1(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button17.Click Dim temp7 As String = InputBox("Enter the album name.")
[Code].....
Basically, it provides an input box, you type in the album you want information on, and it will take you to a web page to give you information.
But when you press cancel, it does all of that anyway. It just takes an empty string...
Is there a way I can have the user press cancel to the input box and simply nothing happens? As far as I can tell, it ignores the "If windows.forms.dialogresult.ok." line...
I'm using visual basic to code a program to help with weights and center of balance on aircrafts, as I'm my unit's new air load planner. The math isn't hard to do, it's just that much of it is trial and error, and redoing all the arithmetic over and over again until the aircraft's C/B is in acceptable limits can eat some time up. So, since i'm trying to learn programming I thought this might be a good way to use it for a real-world scenario.
1. create a button 2. when that button is clicked, an inputBox will appear to ask the user how many words they will enter. 3. then display an inputBox for each word.
For example, when the first inputBox appears, I enter "3" (meaning that I will enter 3 words). Then there should be 3 more inputBox (each inputBox allows me to enter only 1 word)After I enter the third word, there will be no more inputBox.How can we FLAG (stop) the inputBox, or let the inputBox know when to stop showing up?
Quick question on the InputBox. I am just learning this, what is the code to "read" commands that are placed from the Inputbox? I can do this in the command line: System.Console.Writeline(), System.console.Readline()
I just would like to know how read the line from the inputbox. Also when I debug my script do I -always- need to have the command prompt in the background?
ive got some simple problem i cant understand how to solve.
str(1) is an array and integer(or double, tried both) a(1) is an array and integer (or double, tried both) a(1) = a(1) + 1 Label1.Text = str(1) + a
the big part is where i get: operator '+' is not defined for types 'integer' and '1-dimensional array of integer'.why do i get that message and what does it mean? how do i make the code do what i want?
I'm trying to create a linked list of an array of integers. Why is the following implicit conversion required?
When I run the code that contains that conversion, I get the following error.
As a real-time data acquisition user control data (a packet of an array of bytes) arrives every second, is converted into an integer array and inserted into a linked list.
The most recently arrived data is painted as coordinates on a grid at the right of a PictureBox using Graphics.DrawLine (pen,X1,Y1,X2,Y2).
The oldest data (arriving 120 seconds ago) will be drawn at the leftmost portion of the Picturebox.
Why a linked list rather than a list? To display 120 views of time sequence data, the draw routine the most recently inserted node to a node that points to Nothing. How do I limit the length of the linked list to 120 nodes and always ensure that the last node points to Nothing?
Do While Not item Is Nothing item = item.NextItem Loop
I am a newbie in VB and I got a piece of code which can display the current running program. I need to use that in VB2005 and I got the below error message. Can anyone help how to fix it?[code]
I'm trying to convert a VB6 project to .NET, but I get problems with some callback functions, and the following message comes up: "AddressOf' expression cannot be converted to 'integer' because integer is not a delegate type" I've seen several solutions to similar problems like this, but I am not able to understand this issue with delegates.
After the conversion, the code look like this:
Declare Function vsmsgwSetDataPackageCB Lib "vsmsgwW.dll" (ByVal PACKAGE As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer Dim arginitP As Integer
[Code]...
Which gives the error: Method 'Public Function PackageCB(HisNodeID As Integer, ByRef data() As Byte, ByVal length As Integer, ByRef arg As Integer) As Integer' does not have the same signature as delegate 'Delegate Function DelegatePackageCallback(hwnd As Integer, lparam As Integer) As Integer
I have a LINQ2Entity problem, I want to get the value, string, from a database, so I select FProducts.Serial_number, and to end the query, I do .ToDictionary. The problem is, it tells me that it doesn't have sufficient parameters, to convert ToDictionary. So I need something like select FProducts.Serial_number, Nothing). ToDictionary. Also FProducts.Serial_number, 0).ToDictionary doesn't work.
Sub GetStatistics(ByVal ProductNumbers As List(Of String), ByRef Passed As Integer, ByRef FailedProducts As List(Of String)) Passed = 0 FailedProducts = Nothing
this is for a BINGO game final project that I already turned in but this just bugged me that I could not get the sorting figured out. I am trying to get this to sort the random numbers in to columns under the correct letters but I keep getting the error Operator '>=' is not defined for types '1-dimensional array of Integer' and 'Integer' under the line:
I am new to EF Linq and I have been struggling with this query for a few days. From reading this forum, I have managed to get this far:
Dim noPic = (From f In myEntities.FriendLists Where (f.UserID = Profile.ID) Select f.FriendID).Except(From g In myEntities.GuestLists Where g.EventID = _id Select g.FriendID)
[Code]...
I am trying to get everybody from the FriendList who is not already on the GuestList to display in a Repeater control. After reading the forum I was able to append .First() to noPic at the myNoPic declaration and finally get a result but that only gave me the first element. Does anybody have any advice on how to accomplish this?
Why doesn't CDate(integer) work where integer has format of YYYYMMDD ?and why won't this stupid site let me submit such a short question when I have nothing else to add except some waffle at the end
I have a DataGridView that has some columns with dates. It binds to an in-memory Datatable which gets loaded from an string array of data passed back from the backend Some of the rows returned have nulls for the date columns. Solution 1: If I define the Date column in the DataTable as "string" I can easily convert those nulls to empty strings and display it in the grid as empty strings (desired results). However, if the user clicks on the date column header to sort by date, it doesn't order the rows as you want. You get a purely string sort order. Not acceptable
I'm just writing a bit of code to compare an id of integer with an id of integer? for example:
Dim id As Integer = 1 Dim nullId As Integer? = Nothing Dim areEqual As Boolean areEqual = nullId = id
When I try to compile the code I get a compiler error: Option Strict On disallows implicit conversions from 'Boolean?' to 'Boolean'. Whilst it's very simple for me to work around this, I was hoping that someone might be able to explain what's going in the compiler to give this warning.
I'm trying to set an Integer value from my.settings.The values comes frpm a listbox, and then inserted to settings (set to specialized.StringCollection)The problem is when i'm trying to get the values and apply them to my function.Error code: Conversion from string "65 & 71" to type 'Integer' is not valid. To me it looks right, but maybe i'm missing something.
Code: Dim test2 As Integer Dim test As System.Windows.Forms.Keysm trigglist As New StringBuilderor Each item As String In
i'm making a multi-line text box, i need somone to add input in a InputBox, and it to write it to a setting (My.settings) but, i need each input to start with a new line, i've tried chr(10) + chr(13), but nothing works!
This must've have been asked before but I couldn't locate it. In a mixed code project (VB and C#) we were debugging some old Visual Basic code where a statement as follows could be found:
If Request.Params("xxx") <> "" Then 'do something
I considered this a bug as Request.Params could be null, in which case the statement would've become false which wasn't the idea. So I thought. I just found out, -- probably for the tenth time and I will keep forgetting -- that the following two statements are not equal, while Nothing in VB should be equal to null in C# (thought I):
if(String.Empty == null) // always false If String.Empty = Nothing Then ' always true
Should I dismiss this as a typical Microsoft backward compatibility effort, or should I consider this a huge error in the VB.NET compiler? Does anybody know the Microsoftean opinion on this oddity?
VB has a function InputBox() that will prompt the user to enter a single value, then click OK. Is there a parallel functionality in ASP.NET, that will get the browser to pop up some kind of input box to return a single value? If not, how do you recommend I achieve this effect?
I'm making a key mapper in VB 2010, trying to capture keys pressed in the input box (tab, escape, backspace, space, caps, shift, ctrl, mwheelup, mwheeldown etc... non-alphanumeric keys).
I have a problem with inserting a multiple selection option into my Inputbox.
IDEA: First the user chooses an excel file which he wants to open and then the sheet he wants to be read.
I can manage everything else except making the sheet selection a multiple option one.
At the moment the name of the wanted Excel sheet is typed into the text field in the inputbox. But I want the textfield to be a dropdownlist which would be populated with this:
With ComboBox1 For i As Integer = 1 To XL_WB.Worksheets.Count Dim nimet As Excel.Worksheet = XL_WB.Worksheets(i)
[Code]....
how to create an Inputbox with Textfield --> ComboBox ??
I'm playing around with the Select Case structure and have the following code:
Private Sub Form1_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim colour As String = InputBox("Please enter the name of a colour.", "Colours")
