I'm making a program that when you select an item from a combobox and press a command button, an image stored in a folder is loaded, I was just explaining what I am doing, what I want to know is how to specify the address of the image and how to load the image.

I'm fiddling around with trying to make a sort of map/world. I'm using 16 x 16 pictureboxes named PictureBox1, PictureBox2, etcThe issue is that when I put the images into all the pictureboxes, I have to have a line for each picturebox (so say I have 100 boxes, I have 100 lines).The only difference in each line is the picturebox number, the rest is identical. I'm basically telling it to set that picturebox's image based on the number that a variable I've created has stored.I've got a game idea, and I'm just trying to figure out how to do the map. I want it to work like the old school RPG games like Dragon Warrior, or the more recent Dwarf Fortress. I'm still not sure if I want to use graphics or letters. At this point, I'm just trying to figure out how I can create the main screen where the user moves around. This is what I've come up with, as it works with what I know. I'm pretty new to this, although I've messed around with VB6 a lot.

Im using "Visual Basic 2010 Express", and for now all i did was learning how does it work and some basic codes.
I click twice in "MyApplication" in the "Solution Explorer", and then go to "Resources". I added 3 pictures that i need and in Properties>Persistence i chose "Embedded in .resx"
Then i search in Windows Explorer my Resources.resx file and its size is now increased by those three pictures.
Then i create a picturebox named "picturebox1" and call that picture[code]...
What is the best way to do? Load the pictures to the program and using many different forms? or just make a folder to the pictures and load them by using the [code]....

When I debug, the List is always empty thus giving me an index error.

I'm creating an application in which i have 5 picture boxes on top of each other that will "layer" pictures on top of each other. The user can show and hide certain layers by checking / unchecking check boxes. I need all the layers to be transparent so the prior layer can show through. Currently all layers are set to transparent back color however, in VB8, controls by default don't support transparent colors. MSDN says you can override this and give controls transparency by the following:

im having a issue where not all the data from my dgv is being loaded into text boxes on a 2nd form. What im doing is using the "DataGridView1.CellDoubleClick" event to open another form and pass the selected row into seperate columns, this works great but as i added more columns to the DGV it seems that the form is loading and not all the data is loading into the text boxes. Is there a way to halt the opening of the 2nd form until the loading is complete? i tried to simple "sleep" at the end right before the form is made visible but that didnt work. heres the code im using to load the DGV into text boxes, there are 16 columns, this is just the first one:

I have a csv file with say 20 lines of 6 numbers. I need to be able to select say line 14 and then load the 6 numbers into a set of 6 text boxes. I can get them into the text boxes once they are loaded into an array, it's getting them into the array I am having difficulty with. I ahve tried numerous scripts form off these forums and the net but can't get one where I can specify which line the information comes from.

My screen tends to seize for a few seconds while the list boxes are populated.I moved the call to the List Populate procedure to the form's shown event.This improved the performance slightly but not enough.Is there a method whereby I can ensure the form is fully loaded and displayed before the lists are populated?

I'm trying to Load data from a Text file, which is "," Delimited into 6 List Boxes.. Want a FileOpenDialog Box so that the user Can chose which Office Id txt File they wont to load into the List Boxes.How it works is;
-The user Enters an Office ID (e.g HH33)
-The user fills out the rest of the program, the data is then generated into the 6 list Boxes
-User then clicks Save to File button.
-The program creates a Text file with the name coming from the Office Id, so if the user enters HH33, the text file is created with name HH33.txt.

Im using a black n white image of a human as my back ground and panels to display the same bits in color when the area is clicked. What isn't working for me is the panels are slightly overlapped and one will always be on top of the other. it is transparent so you can see the back ground, but not the panel underneath it when it has a picture in it.

I don't know if you can tell what I am trying to do here, so I will try to explain. I what to create for random numbers and place them into for different text boxes. I also would like to do this with combo boxes and their selected indexes. So if the combo box has 10 items in it; the new selected index would be the random number generated above.

This involves the customer giving the employee information such as name, address, postcode etc and the employee inputting that information into text boxes and combo boxes that are in the application.
What I would like to be able to do is after the customers information is given over the phone, I need to be able to send that information to a database which will probably most likely be done by button click. In this case, I'm using Microsoft Access. I'm also hoping that I can do this within Visual Basic coding.
The database is set out with multiple tables which include a customer table and a ticket table and both have multiple fields such as first name, surname in the customers table. Both of these tables are in use with the information that the customer gives over the phone.
I've already asked on other forums and people are where replying giving me third party programs that I could use to implement this, something I don't really want to do.

The web browser control navigates to a local website and automatically logs in for the end user. This is done by using code which automatically fills in the username and password and then submits the form to logon using something similar to this: WebBrowser1.Document.Forms.Item(, 0).elements("txtUsername").value = "user"
Once logged on - there is a search page which contains a combo box and list box. I am trying to set specific values for the combo box and list boxes.For example - the combo box on the website is titled: cbxDate and contains the following values: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month.
A list box titled: lstArea contains the following values: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, All.I am trying to figure out if there is a way through code to select, in this example, "Yesterday" in the cbxDate and "Zone B" in the lstArea on the webpage.If anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to let me know. After the user finishes with the formatting, I want to give the user an option to print the work.But its the work is not done on the Rich Text Box but on picture boxes. I am not even sure, how many of the picture boxes would be there after the user finishes the job, since I have provided option for dynamically creating picture boxes as well.

For exercise 1 I have created the form with a button and two text boxes, but cannot work out the code I need to move text between the two boxes. The Object Browser does not seem to help - am I reading it wrong?
