My screen tends to seize for a few seconds while the list boxes are populated.I moved the call to the List Populate procedure to the form's shown event.This improved the performance slightly but not enough.Is there a method whereby I can ensure the form is fully loaded and displayed before the lists are populated?

This should be fairly simple task for experienced i am sure.So far i haven't been able to find a single working solution to accomplish that as most of the articles are written for VB / VB 2005/ VB 2008 and not VB 2010.

I'm trying to Load data from a Text file, which is "," Delimited into 6 List Boxes.. Want a FileOpenDialog Box so that the user Can chose which Office Id txt File they wont to load into the List Boxes.How it works is;
-The user Enters an Office ID (e.g HH33)
-The user fills out the rest of the program, the data is then generated into the 6 list Boxes
-User then clicks Save to File button.
-The program creates a Text file with the name coming from the Office Id, so if the user enters HH33, the text file is created with name HH33.txt.
-All Data entered by the user under the office name HH33 will be added to the Text File..[code]

View 7 RepliesUsing Visual Basic in Visual Studio 2008, I have created a Windows form with multiple tabs and questions. Each question has an associated drop-down listbox that the user will eventually click on to enter his or her response. My client has now informed me that she wants to change the standard responses in each response box. There are well over 100 drop-down listboxes, all with the same items, and they all must be changed.
I originally inputted the items using design view. Would someone please tell me if it's possible to edit all of these boxes in the design view simultaneously? When I control + click on more than one box, the Edit Items option that is normally available disappears. Is there a way to do it in code in a manner that would save back into design view?

So in the begining each box will be invisible and when you click the button the corresponding group box will become visible. Is there any other way?It will be like a background image and it'll have buttons that will mask it with invisible buttons. when the button is clicked it will open the corresponding group box.

I am trying to populate a form from a list of values. I am fetching data into a recordset. I have a textbox that displays the date, however, when I try to assign a date value I am getting the error message that I cannot set the textbox value to a textfield. Is there a way to assign the date value to the textbox?

The form has First Name, Last Name, Course and Email text box fields. First/Last Name must have no spaces, Course must consist of a three letters and two numbers in that order and nothing else(I want to avoid the use of masked text box), and Email must have the "@" sign and a dot. How would one make it so after clicking, say, Submit button and if there was a violation of any of the above rules then message box should pop up and tell the user which fields contain incorrect information.

I have the following "contact" data (exampled below) stored in an xml file.I've created a frmContacts windows form and placed a list box control inside it.I'm new to the list box but plan to have the users manage the list by letting them add, delete, and pick from it. For searching there should also be a sort function/button (by last name then first name).If the user deletes from the list the corresponding data in the file will be deleted.If the user picks from or adds to the list, I'd like to find the best way to populate the corresponding data elements on another form (i.e., in their respective text boxes). This will include the ability to edit/save from this other form too.

On a word document I would like to populate same data captured via User Form on multiple locations of a document... i.e. LastName I would like to appear on salutation paragraph and also in the body of the letter... I used REF LastName on the document when using VBA but it seems the same document when it is being populated via a VB application this skim does not work and instead "Error! The web browser control navigates to a local website and automatically logs in for the end user. This is done by using code which automatically fills in the username and password and then submits the form to logon using something similar to this: WebBrowser1.Document.Forms.Item(, 0).elements("txtUsername").value = "user"
Once logged on - there is a search page which contains a combo box and list box. I am trying to set specific values for the combo box and list boxes.For example - the combo box on the website is titled: cbxDate and contains the following values: Today, Yesterday, This Week, This Month.
A list box titled: lstArea contains the following values: Zone A, Zone B, Zone C, All.I am trying to figure out if there is a way through code to select, in this example, "Yesterday" in the cbxDate and "Zone B" in the lstArea on the webpage.If anyone knows of a solution, please feel free to let me know. View 3 RepliesOkay, so I have been developing my own MP3 player recently, and now I thought I would make the player remember what songs were in the playlist when it shut down. It now remembers the playlist file that was used last, but I would still rather make it so that it remembers all the songs without saving the playlist.
I've been using a setting to save the playlist file, but when I try this:

I am attempting to fill a form with multiple rows from an access table based off of a parameterized query. My query works fine but I don't want to return one row at a time, I want to return all rows that match my query in multiple text boxes. I know that I can use a datagrid view to accomplish this, but I would prefer the look of a textboxes on a form. I have read through many books and searched the internet forums but think I may just not know what to search for as nothing has worked yet. Can anyone point me in the right direction. So far I have tried setting the text box value to the row().item(), creating a different dataset for each row, and even setting variables for the results of the query to then be passed to the text boxes. Since none of this work, I don't really have any starting code to post. If I could just get a starting point I could work from there, so don't feel the need to code anything for me, just set me in the right direction.
I have an Access Database that contains two tables. I would like to populate 10 text boxes on my form with the data from the tables. For example: Table1 has a list of names 1 thru 5 and I would like to have 5 text boxes on my form when the form is loaded to populate those names. I have a number of images that I want to select a random number of and populate that number of picture boxes either dynamically or that already exist but can't think of the logic that would do it.
I considered dynamically creating them but don't know of a way to name them uniquely. I tried using pcbx& a variable but it didn't like that. Placing the image inside picture boxes that already exist, I couldn't think of a way to differentiate between them without what seemed excessive repetitive coding.
I added a few items in the combobox dropdown list at the form load event. [code] At the runtime I dont want to allow the user to write something in the combobox as a text.The user can only select an item from the dropdown list of the combobox.

I'm studying as a mature student for a Computing Degree (encompassing web design, hardware, programming and systems analysis). The programming seems to be my weak spot this year. I enjoyed C++ last year, doing basic console applications, but progamming visually with VB in Visual Studio 2008 I'm struggling!

This program is supposed to allow the user to check items in a checked list box. If the item is checked, it goes into the Completed List Box on the right. The program then adds the unchecked items to the Pending list box on the left. I keep getting placement values (e.g. O,1,2) instead of the strings (e.g. "Key Returned") in the list box results (see photo attached)
