I am reading data from a mysql database table.I have populated a dropdown with the relevant slections, i want the rest of the form to load data once i select the plate number .[code]...
I am trying have a data grid selection populate a form. I am new to this.Basically I have a connection persistance object and I would like to call that and call a stored procedure with the value of the selection. The datagrid is bound to an object.
I have a list of servers in the first dropdown. I want to get list of all databases in the second dropdown depending on the server selected in the first dropdown.
For this I need to query each server while selecting the server.
your life whatever you are doing.I have a big question. Well, it's a big job for me. I tried to google and follow some tutorials frist but finally realise rom stackoverflowers.I have a one big xml file such below. I have no control over its structure as it already exists with data.
I'm using devexpress ASPxComboBox, however I wanted to know how I can allow the user to enter values(in case it is not in the list) or choose from a dropdown list.
how can I make program using vb 2005 that will dropdown the datagridview combobox and display to the datagridview textbox everytime the combobox selection change or when you choose the data. The mousemove is not perfect because when the dropdown combobox length more than the datagridview, the mousemove will not work even other features of datagridview.
We have a GUI that displays a radio selection box (3 options) that are the three sites where our hospitals are. We need to dropdown located on the form to fill with only the locations based on the selected radio option.
Here is the code behind we have so far (sorry, VB)
[Code]....
For the record the Location dropdown is currently databound but its a static SELECT statement which brings us all the locations but we'd prefer it to be cleaner if it only returned the locations based on Site. We are using Visual Basic 2008 Express Edition for development.
I know the question is a little choppy and perhaps misleading, but I have a gridview with dropdownlists on the rows. I created an AddHandler and a Delegate for the SelectedIndexChanged and it gets to the sub. Here is the code for that:
AddHandler ddlmgr.SelectedIndexChanged, AddressOf ddlmgr_SelectedIndexChanged Public Delegate Sub DropDownList_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As DropDownList_SelectedIndexChanged)
Protected Sub ddlmgr_SelectedIndexChanged(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs)
End Sub How can i get the row's Id if GridView_RowCommand is not called?
I have a little problem whit passing delegates. I have a program that load some data from internet. When the loading starts i create new thread for this. What I want is, when the loading ends I want to call one procedure in my form. So when I initializing class I want to pass that procedure. But I have problems with implementation. This is the pseudo code off my class and how it should look like.
Public Class GetArtistInfo Public Delegate Sub RefreshInfoSub() Public RefreshSub As RefreshInfoSub Public Sub New(ByVal RefreshInfo As RefreshInfoSub) RefreshSub = Address Of RefreshInfo End Sub
I need to load a large txt file that is in a fixed width format. There are over 45K lines, so speed is important.I need to load one of the fields into a dropdown box and have another field (label) display the text of another field in the related line.I could import the file to an access db if needed, but would rather not as i also want the txt file to update from a link on a regular bases. So having it in a DB would be more work to process that part.[code]
what is the best way to load dropdown lists from reference/lookup tables for a desktop application? the application is layed out into 3 tiers. I've built up my entities.the front end has a form with 6 tabs. and one big save (another discussion :)Should I load them all when the form is initially loaded? Are there any caching mechanisms I could use?
it is vb.net app on a network drive that is accessed by several users.it's also worth noting that some reference tables may be updated. Via another form.
This is my first time to be here and is a total newbie with Visual Basic 2008. I have background in VBA Excel and would like to try Visual Basic 2008. I would like to start off on a certain project and I am currently in trying to load image (in jpg format) into the picturebox thru listbox selection. I have found this code here and is trying to modify it to suite my needs but is having quite a tough time to set it right. [code]....
I added a few items in the combobox dropdown list at the form load event. [code] At the runtime I dont want to allow the user to write something in the combobox as a text. The user can only select an item from the dropdown list of the combobox.
I have two forms, forms a and b. Each form has a combo box. The user selects an item from form A's combo box and saves their selection to a database by pressing a button. How can I display their combo box selection from form A in form B's combo box on form B's form_load event?
i had this working and i foudn the info on this forum, but i cant for the life of me renemebr how to do it, and searching for the thread all i can find is this:
[URL]
Which is not it, the method i used only involved a few clicks per item to set up and it made it so what ever selection was chosen in a combobox for example was saved, and then that selection was loaded on the apps next run, i know i had to do something in the application setting/databinding area of the properties.
I am trying to build a program that has a Dropdown menu (Combobox) where you select between a list of items like
xbox ps2 ps3 wii
then once you select one of the options the program will bring you to a new window (In the same window) with a new box that has a list depending on which word you chose earlier. As an example.
If you chose xbox on the first window it will bring you to a window with a new list like
fighting game 2009 fighting game 2010 fighting game 2011
then if you select fighting game 2011 you would get another window that showed a list that had a list of characters from that game.
Guy One Funny Hat Guy Big Nose Guy Dead Guy Beast Thing Funny Turtle Thing
Then in the new window you get a selection of options for the character you selected.
Special Skills Combo Moves Unlockable Content
Then if you select one of those you get a new window that has the lists. for example.
If you chose Special Skills show the list of special skills like the following.
Uppercut: Down + Y Face Smasher: Back, Forward, B
and maybe beside the list of moves it could display an image of a Screen shot that shows the move (Or not if it is too complicated).
I decided to make a small app that runs another app with arguments. I think the best way to do it was selecting one option from a dropdown menu and using this option as an argument to run the app.
The clean part I did: Public Class LanguageSelectDialog Private Sub LanguageSelectDialog_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load End Sub
[Code]....
Since I'm just trying out, I've made an blank app just for testing purposes. What I need to do in order to pass the selected option as argument? I'm using VisualStudio 2010.
I have a dropdownlist that I want to populate with a specific value and specific text. I'm not using a datasource but I am manually making a connection and retrieving data in code. How can I populate this dropdownlist? If I read the data with a datareader and increment an array I only get either the value or the text. This is what I have so far, but it is completely wrong:
//connection string etc goes here Dbcmd2.CommandText = "select dept, deptname from table" Dim dr As SqlClient.SqlDataReader[code]....
How can I get this to work without having to create a class object for Department? Is there anyway or should I create the class object?
I want to take a drop down menu. It will contain LastName, FirstName. I want that to select a record from a table. First Name and LastName are two different columns
I am using VB 2008. My DataGridView could contain a thousand rows in alphabetic order and I want my users to be able to find a row quickly without them having to scan through many rows. I could provide a row of buttons captioned A to Z or I could provide a search field in a textBox but in either case my program would have to find a particular row and focus on that row. Question one: Does DataGridView have a function that searches for a a particular value in a specified column? I have found no alternative to sequentially searching through the list. Question two: Once I have identified the index to a particular row, how can I make that row become the selected row?
There is so much to DataGridView that somebody should write a book specially about DataGridView. I would buy it.
i have a requirement of using a dropdown list/combobox in data grid for allowing user to select from the list. how can i do that.I want to have a particular column with this option available that should be filled with data from the SQL database.
[Code]...

Whenever i start my form (window application) and link from one form to another, my data doesn't load but when i close the respective form and open it again , it appear. Can i know where is my problem ? Thx in advance. Here's the code snippet :
Private Sub AccessControl_Load(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles MyBase.Load Dim sqlstring As String = "select * from depttable" Dim connection As New SqlConnection(db.cs) Dim dataadapter As New SqlDataAdapter(sqlstring, connection)
Is it possible to change the data source of a dropdown list in a gridview from another dropdown list selected index changed method in the same gridview?
for example I have a dropdown that needs to change its contents depending on what is chosen in the previous cell of the gridview, which is also a dropdown list.
I have my rpg, still, first time working on it n ages, and I want each user to be able to set their own personalized picture background for the game...
each character in the game has its own dedicated folder for each file that the character has relating to it...
what I want to know how to do, is to have my game copy the loaded/chosen background image to their respective characters data folder, and have the game reload/reset the games default background image, to the one piced by he player...I am having a hard time figuring out how to do this however...I've tried a lot of different things...and nothing is working yet...
In class i saved my program in with load of other test programs for the same assignment and got everything mixed up i finally figured out what was what and loaded the program in Visual Basic. Now my program doesn't recognize one of my forms when i try to access the design view of it. I hit run for the hell of it and the program runs with errors of course but the form1 "the missing one" shows up with all the buttons etc and i can use it.
I am developing an application in visual basic 2008. I want to populate a drop down list onthe fly with values extracted from the database. I want both the displayed and value items to come from the same.
