View 10 RepliesI have problems about USB device drivers: I can see the driver correctly installed but application says device is not present.
I solved using Regedit:
in
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumUSB
I have to manually delete the key
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetEnumUSBVid_04d8&Pid_8001
with all subkeys.
I've seen there are several examples managing registry keys using vb, but I can't understand how detect if the key is present and how delete it.
I'm making a custom scripting engine type thing. I'm trying to add an option to where you can select a list of functions from a dropdown combobox. I want it to display the "Display Names"(Keys as String) of the items in the combobox, but I want it the DisplayNames to point to the (Value as String).[code]so I want "Equals" to be displayed in the combobox, but I want "=" to be the real value.
View 1 RepliesI have a program which will search the entire registry for a keyword and display all the matching keys/values in a listview. The user can then select the desired keys/values and delete them. Since this a program that deals with registry, I want to give the users a way to backup the registry before they do the delete operation. I would like to know what is the best approach for this.
3 questions here:
1- Should I backup the entire registry ?
2- Should I backup only the keys/values that the user has selected in the listview ?
3 - Can I have the sample code or appropriate URL's which describes this.
I'm making an irc client (working)Now, I load all the users in a listview or listbox (I can choose)So I need the listbox or listview the be sorted by the ranks of the user.The ranks are in the listbox, but I just want the users with '~' the be at the top & the ones with '&' under those,

I need to store the value of ItemCode at coloumn 0 of my ListView.Using the following code in click event, it worksvrEditProductCode = lvVendors.SelectedItems.Item(0).SubItems.Item(0).TextBut the same code in selectedindex changed event is causing an index out of range exception.Please advise how to fix it. I want user to get this value when up/down arrow key is pressed.
View 2 RepliesI have been searching the forums but I keep finding ways to cause events to occur when a key is pressed. I'm trying to get a true/false if the "ctrl" + "L" keys are pressed when the form loads so it know whether to show itself or close
View 15 RepliesVery easy today, I think. In C#, its:
Dictionary<String, String> dict = new Dictionary<string, string>() { { "", "" } };
But in vb, the following doesn't work.
Public dict As Dictionary(Of String, String) = New Dictionary(Of String, String) (("",""))
I'm pretty sure there's a way to add them at declaration, but I'm not sure how. And yes, I want to add them at declaration, not any other time. :)
I've also tried:
Public dict As Dictionary(Of String, String) = New Dictionary(Of String, String) ({"",""})
And...
Public dict As Dictionary(Of String, String) = New Dictionary(Of String, String) {("","")}
And...
Public dict As Dictionary(Of String, String) = New Dictionary(Of String, String) {{"",""}}
I have setup my listview to View: Details
I want the listview to show all the keys of a specific folder.
Example: HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\VBExpress\10.0
So you click button1 and it adds all the keys within the example to your listview.

I'm helping a friend port some code that I have written in Java to Visual Basic.NET. VB.NET is not my language of choose, so I am entirely new to it's quirks. How can I display keys from a HashTable in a ListBox?
View 2 RepliesI am wondering if there is a way to get the keys from the registry and display them in a checked listbox. For example I want to get all the keys and there values from "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESoftwareMicrosoftWindowsCurrentVersionRun". This will allow me to see all the startup items. Is there a way that I can get all the values and display them in a checked listbox. I tried using the GetValue but it seems that you have to set the key that you want.

View 1 RepliesI have a VB.NET project where I am able to iterate through the keys and values collections of a dictionary object using an index:
MyDictionary.Keys(idx)
MyDictionary.Values(idx)
When this code is taken from the test project and placed into the real project I get the following error:
'System.Collections.Generic.Dictionary(Of Double, String).KeyCollection' cannot be indexed because it has no default property.[code]...
In the line in sub search that says "dtf.Keys(idx) = 0" place your cursor after the right parenthesis and backspace you should get a tooltip that says, "<Extension> ElementAtOrDefault(index as Integer) as Double - index: the zero based element of the index to retrieve.
I have a problem detecting whether one of the arrow keys is pressed, all the other keys seem to be detected apart from the arrow keys??? I have set key preview to True........ It detects the arrrow keys BUT ONLY if I have NO other controls on the form??? example..
Me.Text = e.keycode
It works, but then if I add a button for example, it stops.
I have standard .net 2.0 gridview control from which i want to get row keys or cell values from the grid when a row is selected.
I also need to call a method each time a row is selected.
How i can do this using ASP.net & VB?
How can I sort data in a sorted list using values instead of keys from highest to lowest?[code]...

The insertion part of the form works great. But my problem is in the form load part......If i leave a field blank(Null),then perform Save operation,close the form after successful insertion and then reopen the form,then it retains the previous values during the form load......This is only in case where i leave a field blank in the previous data entry in the database.......But if i enter values in all fields then form load is working great.

View 2 RepliesI have a little utility that everybody in our office uses on XP. This utility runs under our standard, non-Admin user profiles...and, where necessary, provides our Admin credentials to do things like connect to a remote computer, assign and take away rights, modify the registry, etc...I had added code to start the Registry Editor and the MMC....and it works fine....in XP. In Vista, that is an entirely different story.I've run into "Invalid Directory" errors and "Elevation Required" errors.What I have is :
Dim mypass As New System.Security.SecureString
Dim myprocessinfo As New ProcessStartInfo
myprocessinfo.UseShellExecute = False ' MUST be set to FALSE to work

I have Windows XP Pro, SP3 on a Dell Dimension 9150 with VB 3.0 and all other Visual Studios up to and including VS2010 Pro.I'm not exactly an expert VB programmer, but I have written several different programs.I would like to write a VB program to run in the background and detect when the program regedit.exe/regedt32.exe tries to run.Once the regedit program tries to run, I would like my background program to pop up a message with three options. Allow, Do Not Allow and Cancel.
The Allow button would allow regedit to run.The Don't Allow button will not allow regedit to run and continue to run in the background. The Cancel button would not allow regedit to run and would cancel the background program.Can this be done?I would explain why I want to do this, but it would take too much of this thread. However, if anybody really needs to know, I will accommodate their request.
I save data from a ListView control to a xml file, and this works real great, but I can't figure out how to load the data again Private Sub ToolStripButton2_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles ToolStripButton2.Click
Dim x As New Xml.XmlTextWriter("C:Listviewout.xml", System.Text.Encoding.ASCII)
Dim i As Integer
x.WriteStartDocument()
x.WriteStartElement("ListViewItems")
i = lvFiles.Items.Count

rewriting the above so I can be able to load the same data again ?
