Generate The PRODUCT KEY For Exe And Installation On Single Machine Only
Dec 29, 2010I have created the windows application in VS 2005 in VB.net. I need the following functionality for my exe
1) I want to generate the PRODUCT KEY for my exe.
2) This Exe once gets installed on machine 'A' it should not get installed on Machine B,C or any other machine.And if I uninstalled from machine 'A' it should get insatlled on it again.

Jun 25, 2009I have 2 datagrids. One to show Product information and another for Product purchase details entry. Both share the same dataset. The dataset (ds) is filled up with columns from 2 table
ProductMstrTbl : ProductID, ProductName..
ProductDetailsTbl: ProductID, PurchaseDate, Amt, BalanceQty..
DataSet(ds) : ProductID, ProductName, PurchaseDate, Amt, BalanceQty.
The problem is that: Showing from dataset or entering new records into the dataset is no problem, but am not able to save the modified dataset into DataBase. SqlCommandBuilder failed to generate the corresponding INSERT, UPDATE command as the dataset has multiple base tables.
VB Program Fails To Run On Specific Machine?
Mar 12, 2012Frustration has officially set in. This is my first post here, and to be very honest, I'll admit that I'm a newbie VB programmer as well. I guess that's why I'm posting here, in hopes you super-porgrammer types might be able to help.
I've written a smallish VB program with 2010 express... the code uses some text files to gather various lists of numbers ( as part of a manufacturing Bill of Material ) that assiciate to PDF files of the same name. The intent was simply to view and print the gathered existing PDF files.
I have the program mostly working the way I want ( at home ), but when I bring it to work, it fails to open.
My home PC is a 32Bit Windows Vista Machine with Adobe 10.1 viewer installed.My Work PC is a 64 Bit Windows 7 Machine also with Adobe 10.1. I've sent the .sln and code to a buddy who is also running a 64bit Win 7 machine very similar to what I have... he is able to run the program. I've sent the same thing to my work pc and tried to run it. I get some crazy HRESULT error I can't make heads or tails out of... remember I'm a newbie.
I will happily post code if you guys are interested, but I believe that it isn't code related. What kind of things MIGHT i try to look for on my work pc that would cause this simple program Not to function? I've brought other programs I've written to work without problem. But this one has me stumped.
Other things I've tried:
1) uninstall and re-install Adobe... ( no change )
2) written a super small adobe viewer program at work... ( works )
3) tried to comple as "any CPU", "x86", and "x64"... ( does not work )
4) bring .sln & code files to compile and run at work... ( does not work, HRESULT err )
IDE :: Returning Machine Specific Unique Identifier From EXE
May 18, 2009I am looking to return a machine specific unique identifier from an EXE. I've tried MAC, hard drive serial and CPU ID, but all contain alpha characters. This makes returning them as an integer difficult - integer seems to be the only type you can return from an EXE.

I want the same little program assigned to the two seperate IPs on my local machine to get the same data from the hardware. How can this be done?I am receiving data just fine but I am not seeing how to tie the program to a specific IP on the local machine. I looked at alternatives for shopping cart/product display and none of them meet my needs (e.g. ProStores). I wish to know which type of database you would use to have Many Products - Multiple Images per Product - possibly Multiple Vendors per product. I have begun a RDB using access as a prototype and I feel there was no faster method than inserting every product manually. Is there an alternative? And would you use a frame to display this data?
Would you store the images to the DB or a file reference on the host. I have begun with a file reference and truncated the path to only relate to where the file will reside on the host.

Apr 4, 2012I am writing a program which detects a development board I designed which communicates with an FTDI chip. Right now my program scans any COM ports and generates a list, which the user will then choose from and connect with that device. The problem is that I want to isolate that list to only the devices which I designed. The FTDI has a unique manufacturer and device ID, but I only know how to access this data 'the old fashioned way' (i.e. through device manager).
What I would like to know how to do is determine the VID and PID of a COM port from VB, so I can dynamically get rid of any devices which do not meet the proper requirements and thus my list will only show the correct devices.
