How can i make a click once program ask for administrative permissions. I have an app that downloads a file into the program files on the "c" drive but it only works when i run it as an administrator. I have Visual Basic 2010 Express.

How can I make a program so you click a button and select a File using a OpenFileDialog and click send on your computer and it will send the file to a different computer and then a SaveFileDialog will show asking where to save the file on the other computer. 1. When I click the high or low button in my program it does not make changes to my token (I want the default tokens to be 100 and added 100 to the text property of my textbox so want to make sure I did that right)

View 1 RepliesI have a user of one of my programs reporting that they get an "access to the path...is denied" error during this section of [code]He's using Windows 7 x64 with UAC turned on. The location of "FilePath" is a subdirectory inside Program Files (x86) in this case.I tried to reproduce the error on my Windows 7 x64 system by enabling UAC (I usually have it off) but the program worked fine. However, in my case, "FilePath" is not in a protected system folder like Program Files (where write permissions are not given to normal users without admin elevation).So I tried to recreate this situation on one of my Vista x86 Virtual PCs where the "FilePath" would be inside Program Files. However, my program again worked fine. It had no problems writing to the Program Files folder with a normal user account, UAC turned on and no elevated permissions required.
Thus, I am confused. Why does it work for me and not for him? I want to try an x64 virtual machine but I can't with the software I have (Virtual PC doesn't support x64 guest OSs, VirtualBox won't run the software that my program interacts with). So maybe you guys can help me instead. Are the write permissions for the Program Files (x86) folder different between x86 and x64, or maybe even Vista and 7?
I am trying to write an app to automate several things that I have to do on a new computer once I have deployed an image, hoping someone could give me some pointers for them:-
1) changing computer description - wmi perhaps?
2) changing computer name - again wmi perhaps?
3) changing permissions on an existing registry key to full control
4) changing the "time to display list of operating systems" when booting from 30 secs to 3
5) turn off simple file sharing
6) and setting current user account so that password doesn't expire - at moment I do it from cmd prompt and do "wmic useraccount where "name='name'" set passwordexpires = false
7) change power plan settings so put the computer to sleep is "never" on both battery and mains

The UAC box provides all administrative rights to the computer to do anything(including making folders and creating files in places which needs there rights) and also makes sure that any child program so called or created also does have the same rights as the parent.Is there a sure-shot way to test if my application has been provided all the administrative rights that I can maximum get by the user while running the application or not? I am really confused! My program doesn't work if I don't have Visual Studio here in my PC. To test it I have uninstalled Visual Studio. But my program doesn't work though Flash Player is present there (I have used Flash animation in the first form).
To be more sure about it I have installed Flash. But it's not working! That means the Flash animation file (.swf) is not making a problem! It needs support from Visual Studio to start. Doesn't it mean that some files are not attached with a setup file as a result it needs Visual Studio to run? Let me tell you how I create a setup file of my program.
