Administrative Privilege In .Net 2010?
May 27, 2012
I want to use netsh wlan set hostednetwork mode=allow ssid=YourVirtualNetworkName key=YourNetworkPassword
in my Vb.net application which requires administrative privilege in Windows 7. Each of the time I have to click "Run as Administrator" from the executable files context menu to execute the file. Is there coding anyway so that I can open the program with Administrative privilege?

My VB program creates a file on a NAS drive via the SaveFileDialog component in a different user context than the person launching it.It works because the person who runs my ClickOnce deployed program uses RunAs from the program's exe (thereby bypassing the ClickOnce pre processor). The problem is that the program extensively supports drag and drop which doesn't work between the User and RunAs contexts.
The program is a VB 2008 Express Windows Forms Application running on XP workstations with peer-to-peer (workgroup) access control. i need to execute only the SaveFileDialog component with impersonation via the user account we've been using with RunAs. Something along the lines of what RunWithElevatedPrivileges accomplishes in SharePoint Services. This is not happening in a hostile security environment - so, the solution needn't be impregnable.

I have built a method to pull some UserProfile information out of SharePoint. It works great in C#, but I can't figure out how to convert one part of it to VB.NET. I'm not that great at VB but usually the basic code converters online get me past any problem I have.
The problem is concerning the SPSecurity.RunWithEleveatedPrivilages section below. Does any one know how to implement the delegate code in VB?

Consider a network environment with a domain and active directory setup. I would like to create a shared folder on a server for a username added by whom ever the network administrator is... I would like to install my program on a computer, but when people log into te local machine, I don't want them to have access to the shared folder, I want the program to be able to access it only, using the afore mentioned user name and password.

I want a sure-shot method to test if the application was run via the UAC box and has full administrative rights. Earlier, I thought of making a folder in C:Windows for testing but running it on other computers proved to be a failure!
The UAC box provides all administrative rights to the computer to do anything(including making folders and creating files in places which needs there rights) and also makes sure that any child program so called or created also does have the same rights as the parent. Is there a sure-shot way to test if my application has been provided all the administrative rights that I can maximum get by the user while running the application or not? If yes, I would be glad to have to piece of code-work!

VB.Net 2010 program .exe on PC with Excel 2007 gives error when cannot find Excel version 14, which is Excel 2010 I have developed a program in VB.Net 2010 which reads from an Excel spreadsheet. It works fine in the IDE on my computer. I built an .msi and executed it on my computer. I get "Error: 53 - Could not load file or assembly 'Microsoft.Office.Interop.Excel, Version=14.0.0.0, Culture=neutral,PublicKeyToken=71e9bce111e9429c' or one of its dependencies. The system cannot find the file specified."
The only version of Excel on my computer is 2007, which is version 12.0.6557.5000. The version the error says it needs, version 14, is actually the version of Excel 2010.I have put in MsgBox statements to find where the error occurs.

At present I have wrote an application (in-house CRM, vb .net 2010) which allows me to send emails under the selected customer & I categorised these emails. As these are categorised I can return data to display email history in my program by using search criteria:
Dim oMail As Outlook.MAPIFolder = oNS.GetDefaultFolder(Outlook.OlDefaultFolders.olFolderSentMail)
Dim sSearch As String
sSearch = "[Categories] = '" + "[" + tAccount.Text.Trim + "]" + "(" + tShipTo.Text.Trim + ")'"
Dim oItems As Outlook.Items = oMail.Items.Restrict(sSearch)
However the limitation to the above is it only looks at sent items & no other folder. My ideal solution would be to display all email correspondence for a certain contact.

this is my very first posting and I must say I am desperate. I have a VB assignment due in 2 days and I am so lost. I have written a code to draw some graphic, just a basic house, tree, sun etc. I have also written a code to magnify said graphics which were all the specifications of my Assignment 1 part A. Now for Part B I am being asked to extend my program so that: A - My graphic can be drawn using different colour schemes designed by me but chosen by the user B - My graphic or an appropriate part of it can be animated around the picture box if the user chooses to do so. C - Error checking is included.

it's just for a program registration. i would store all of the registration codes in the access database, then export it to XML, then upload it to my web host. I would then somehow connect it to my Visual Basics login form (Which I have already made). If this can't be done, having them register through the form and having all the allowed codes on the internet (So i can easily edit them)!
