Module For Mysql Database Connection In .net?
Feb 1, 2012how to create modules and consequently how to use them.I need to do a database in mySql from vb.net. I have tried the usual way, that is my connecting to the database at the beginning of each of my class. I want to know if that can be done through modules, as far as i have read about that or some other way like procedures and functions. In that way, it could ease my coding in not having to write the db connection each time.

Nov 14, 2009I have a chat server / client system running, but I want users to authenticate with my vBulletin forum database.I don't want the client to do it, because it is possible to fake the 'successful login' and connect with a fake username. I want to send the username and password details to the server, and make the server check it with the local vBulletin MySQL database for the username and password.Is there a way to do this? To my knowledge vBulletin has a username and a password entries in the database which is salted, and the salt varies from user to user.

Feb 27, 2011I am trying to make a very simple program that connects to a MySQL database using VB.NET. My program only has one form and one label. I setup my MySQL database to have a table and one field (a VARCHAR)called "Tab1". I manually inserted the value "CLOSED" into the Tab1 field using PHPMyAdmin. I want my program to change the value of the field to OPEN/CLOSED and I also want the label text on my form to change too when it's clicked.

Mar 15, 2009At moment iam trying to fetch some data out of a mysql database.hope i can explain well what i try to do.Okay i made a form with some text field and a combobox.What i want is at start when the form loads that all the last name will get catcht out of the mysql database. all those last names should go in the combobox.now i have a few textboxes like adress phone number living place go onWhat i try to do now is when all those lastnames are in the combo box when i select a nameand press the button to update that it will catch the info from that user out of the mysql database and puts the info in the right textfields.What i got so far is a succesfull connection to the mysql database.
How do i know that my login to the application is also connected to the database and that one works fine ;)the only thing i cant manage is to take the data out of mysql and put it in the textfields.i made a form called test to testthis out so far this is what i have on code

Oct 4, 2009I'm populating a DataTable from a MySQL-server. One of the columns contains norwegian characters (�, �, �), but they don't display correct in my datatable. I've been searching google for some answer, but I haven't found any. I've never had this problem before. Actually I'm not quite sure exactly where the problem is. It's either in the datatable or in the MySQL .NET-connector as far as I can tell. If I do the same query in the MySQL Query Browser, the characters are shown correctly, so it can't be the server.

Jun 10, 2009i recently added a login that uses mysql database now it use to pull data from text file but as i said i made it use mysql now..it works great locally but when i sent it to a friend to test the login he got this error. unhandled exception has occurred in the your application. if you click continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to conttinue. if the click quit, the application will close immediately could not load file and assembly 'MySql.Data. version=5.1.7.0 Culture=neutral, public key token=c5687fc88969c44d' or one of its dependencies. this system cannot find the file specified.not sure what to do i was thinking about having him install the MySQL Connector net but i thought i would come here first and ask..and can someone also help me on how can i retreive data from the login part? i can get it to keep the username but for some reason i can pull the rest of the data here is the login script.[code]
