Make Selection In CheckedListBox Exclusive?

In an application I build a list of CheckedListBox and display it to the user. I want to make the selection exclusive to only one. I noticed that you can check more that one item in the CheckedListBox. How can I stop that and as the user check the second box I uncheck his/her first selection.
SForm.ChkBoxPts.Items.Add("Paarsa")
SForm.ChkBoxPts.Items.Add("Jeff")
I.e. If I display the above two items or may be even more, I would like to force the user only select one and only one.

How can i make ONLY one selection possible from the checkedlistbox at a time? If i have already selected one and if i select another item the previous item should be deselected.

I know that sounds strange but I came across this website today that uses this ability and I've been going nuts trying to figure out how they do it.

There is a combolistbox that has a list of topics.
Depending on what topic you choose will determine what checklistbox option will appear in the check list box.
What are they doing there to create that option? I was thinking that maybe they created 20 checkedlistboxes and then if the selection of the combolistbox is "THIS" then they set the getfocus to that checkedlistbox but that didn't quite work for me.

I am creating a Windows Form exe using VB2008. The documentation for VB2008 says "Multi-selection is not supported on CheckedListBox". But it works very well in debug mode. I cannot change the properties of the control in the IDE but I can run the following statement (clbProj is a CheckedListBox control) in the load event and it implements the multi-selection on the control.
clbProj.SelectionMode = SelectionMode.MultiSimple
I run many tests in debug mode with this option and it works every time. The program processes every checked item in the list and works as expected.
However, when I compile the program and start the exe, it throws an error saying "Multi-selection is not supported on CheckedListBox".

I am new to the forum and to VB, and not great at coding in general.I am learning, and this site as well as others have helped me get farther than I ever imagined. Second, my project is purely for my benefit, so I can learn.There is no corporate or school related goal here, just trying to learn.So the title is a summary of what I want to do. I have a form with a combo box that has five different choices, and below it, a checked list box. What I want is the collection inside the checked list box to change depending on what I select in the combo box above it.For instance, I have room 1 - 5 in the combo box, and the the checked list box below it, I have the furniture associated with that room.The eventual goal is to have this form populate a database, that allows the checked furniture to be recorded in a record.
I assume I need to use a db, such as access, to list the "furniture" in each room, and have a different table for each room, where the combo box selection will populate the checkedlistbox from the appropriate tables contents.I need a step by step on this, because I am a bit of a brick. Most tutorials are also done in VB 6 or VB 2008, and there have been steps missing in association to VB 2010.

I have a little problem with a little VB.NET application that I am building. This is a winforms applications not WPF.I have a checkedlistbox with a few items and I want to allow user to select more than one using arrows keys or mouse clicks combined with shift and ctrl keys so I set selectionMode property to multiExtended. In design time it is not possible I get an error: It says value property is not valid.and if I set it in runtime by doing:
clbEmployees.SelectionMode = SelectionMode.MultiSimple
I get an error too: It says CheckedListBox is not compatible with multiple selection.

Ive got a CheckedListBox with 20 rows in it, each with checkbox's which are checked or not-checked. What I want to do is to check each checkbox, row by row to see if it is checked, and then to store this is a listofintegers (1 if its checked, and 0 if its not).So the output listofintegers should be something like "01011000010100010011".

My app has a nice menu strip, with two tool strips, one containing file options, and other contanining options options (oO)The bad part is... the options toolstip has two subitems that should be excluse. Like: I click one, other gets unclicked and become not functional.I've tried it, but with no sucess.

I developed an application I need to run exclusivly under DOS mode (no Windows), when I wrote the app I created it as a CONSOLE application, when I run this EXE under the DOS mode it says it can't RUN in DOS mode? Is there ANYWAY I can make this work?

I had made a program and didn't set a password for the database that used by that. after that I set a password by opening my database in exlusive mode. but when I want to open it in my program I Found out an error Cannot start your application. I'd like to open a text file and not allow any other processes to write to it. I understand I can do this with the following FileStream:Dim fs As New FileStream(_FilePath, FileMode.Open, FileAccess.ReadWrite, FileShare.Read)
Once I have access like this I need to read all of the lines (I will use a StreamReader(fs)) and then I will need to write to the file (I will use a StreamWriter(fs)).
The problem here is that the StreamWriter won't allow me to set the append mode to false (so I can overwrite all text in the file) when I use the filestream as a parameter instead of the file path. So all text written with the StreamWriter is appended onto the text which I don't want. If I use a StreamWriter with the file path (which will let me set append to false) as the parameter instead of the filestream it will be locked out because of the FileStream FileShare. How can I still have exclusive access to read and write to the file but still be able to overwrite the existing text (append mode false)?

When setting the selection of a RichTextBox, the selected text is highlighted even though I set the HideSelection property to True. Once the RTB loses focus then the selected text is no longer highlighted. Programatically setting the focus to another control doesn't hide the selection, only physically clicking another control will hide it. So is there a way I can make the RTB not show the selection right from the start?

I am looking to after the user selects from a drop down to give read only access to the form( textboxes, buttons, etc).Upon the second selection the user would have read-write access and upon the third selection full access.Does anyoen have an example of how this might go ? I have a combobox linked to a table Checklist (ID, Checklistname, and several multivalued fields). I want to have my subform display data from different tables based on my combobox selection "checklistname". All the tables are imported Excel files with the same fields and field types (ie. Discrepancy, reference, reference paragraph, category). How do I get my subform to requery based on the combobox selection? Or is there another method when working with "outside tables"? Import good/bad? Make new table? I have about 20 tables, if importing but only need particular data to save/store in my main table, and I need to know which table it came from.

I m making a "offline viewer" which uses saved webpages. I'm using a web browser and a tree-viewer. Is there a way to make the selected node in the tree viewer change if you click on a link in the web page (i.e if you select a link about The Gimp on tutorial 176, the selected node will change to The Gimp tree node)

If i wanted to crop an image in VB.net, how would I go about doing it? I am trying to let the user drag out the box they want (system.drawing.rectangle), and it will automatically remove the edges surrounding the box.
My first problem is primarily the fact that I cannot make the system.drawing.rectangle visible. It is not displaying at all, I am setting its location and height programmatically, but nothing is showing up. I know there is probably something fairly obvious I am missing...but I cannot seem to find it.
My larger issue, however, lies with the cropping itself. I cannot find any crop methods, at all. Is there a hidden one I am missing? Or must I code it myself? How would I go about doing this? It ought to be able to output to a bitmap image object.

I am having difficulties populating a checkedlistbox (CLB) based on the selection(s) made in another. It should also be noted that I have a "Select All" checkbox at the top that checks/unchecks all of the items in the first CLB. Here's the code:

The first CLB is populated with an arraylist of values on the button click event. Based on whatever is checked in the first CLB, corresponding values from an arraylist of structures should fill the second CLB.The following code partially works until the "Select All" checkbox is clicked at which point if other values have been selected before "Select All" is checked, the second CLB is filled with the correct number of corresponding values BUT only those of the most recently selected item of the first CLB instead of all of corresponding values of all of the items that were not already selected.

I have a calculate function that adds twenty text boxes together a+b, etc... 20 +20, B changes value when a selection in combobx is changed, how can i make the calculate funtion work up selection change in combobox ? You would think the selection change or index change , but that doesnt work because the tetbox doesnt actually get the new value till after the combo selection is made, so you actually have to go and make the selection twice I know i can put the code in the textbox value change , but i dont want to do that for 20 text boxes and i am assuming there must be a BETTER way?
