I now have to update the project proposal with a storyboard or list of menu and screen items to delineate my proposed user screen and menus.aside from the calculator itself there will not be any menus.I also have to list any user data inputs and outputs my application will require and produce, which i assume i can put any numbers that the user inputs into the calculator and their results.

Jul 31, 2011I've got the bulk of a calculator up and working, however it doesn't like multiple operations. For example 3x5+2= brings up 10 (i.e. 3+5+2) and even doing it in two parts doesn't help, if I enter 3x5= I get 15 then +2= gives me 32 (i.e. 3x5=15 15x2=30 30+2=32). Also I am getting trialing zeros in my command line I can't debug.Note that lblcommandline displays the whole function and lbldisplay just displays the current imputted number.

Say I type in 6 and 6 I'm getting errors saying Example: Conversion from string "youranswer is 12" to type 'Integer' is not valid. I've tried many things, but it's not working. I want to know what I need to do to get it to print out how I want it. Do I need to do some conversions properly somehow?
Simple Calculator Multiplication And Division?
Jan 30, 2010Simple Calculator multiplication and division Trying to make a simple calculator. My program inputs numbers and arithmetic operations thru commandbuttons. The numbers, num(n-+1), are odd and the operations, op(n), are even. The code is based on the even op string. Every time a op occurs it is stored in numop(n) to be accessed later. I have all the other operations in sequential order: "*"," "/, "+" and "-". The other similar For-Next loop are the same just interchange the two * for /, +and -. The "+" and "-" work fine in this configuration.
My problem is the multiplication and division does not occur. The numbers and operations line up. The numop(m)=g*h should yield numop(m)=num(1)*num(3). Is there some sort of code to be inserted to accomplish these multiplication and division operations?

Make A Simple Resistance Calculator For Practice?
Nov 21, 2009I am trying to make a simple resistance calculator for practice. I use text boxes to let the user input the current and voltage, and then a combo box for the units and then a list box to display the results. For some reason no matter which units I select it doesn't convert at all. For example 1/2 will always show up as 0.5 in the list box no matter which units are selected from the combo box. Here is my code.....I know that there is more cases but I only put one to see if it works before I write all of the cases.

Mar 18, 2012I have a small project from my university they have asked us to make a calculator , well everything is easy so far except the 3 last functions that I need help with.
as we all know vb has already some math functions implemented in its libraries the problem here those functions giving me wrong results I am trying to get math.tan(lblnum.text) math.sin(lblnum.text) and math.cos(lblnum.text)
they don't output the correct numbers any idea why?

May 6, 2009Ok. I just took my final for VB and the last chapter we did was on procedures and functions. Functions was the only thing out of this whole semester that I was just completely lost. I'm trying to work on this cause I'm taking Advanced VB next so I wanna know what I'm doing. So I'm trying another tutorial in the book and I'm really lost. Here is what the it wants you to do.
Retail Price Calculator
Write an application that accepts from the user the wholesale cost of an item and its markup percentage. (For example, if an item's wholesale cost is $5 and its retail price is $10, then the markup is 100%)
The program should contain a function named CalculateRetail that receives the wholesale cost and markup percentage as arguments, and returns the retail price of the item.
When the user clicks the Get Retail button, the program should do the following:Verify that the values entered by the user for the wholesale cost and the markup percent are numeric and not negative. Call the CalculateRetail function Display the retail cost as returned from the function.

Designing Software - Making A MPC Sampler - Drum Machine - Making A Sound Directory ?
May 16, 2012I'm a huge music person (got my own lil record thing going) but I'm wanting to design a program that would make music in my way. I have a decent amount of background knowlege of Visual Basic and Java I'm just wondering how could I execute this whole project. The Project is making a MPC Sampler. MPC is a drum machine; a machine with buttons that once you press it that it will play a sound from a drum (ex: snare, kick, tom, ect.) . So I would want to make some pads on my program that each have their own sound. Total of 16 pads. Which the design wouldn't be hard to make nor would the functionality of it having the play back sound (in my opinoin it wouldn't be hard atleast). But the thing is I wanna map out these pads to number keys on the number pad or keyboard. I'm not so sure how to do that. But that's all the easy stuff...
Also finding information is making a sound directory. What I mean by this is that I want to make a User Interface that will open up a file directory of sounds and the user can select what "kick" or "snare" sound he may want for the kick or snare pad. I don't know how to do that or even know what to search; neverless I don't know if this whole project idea is a good idea for Visual Basic or another programing language.
Also LATER ON I am wanting to add a record and export function that alows users to..well...record and export their beat or instrumental ha. That doesn't seem too too complex (mainly due to the fact that all it needs to do is record the users key strokes and then show them and play the sounds, but obviously it would get more complex than that.)
