My boss has given me an asp.net web application that was done by his former employee. Now my boss has no contact with that employee. He wants me to make some changes in that web application. I went through the application. There is no documentation present for that application . Its a huge application. It contains many directories. I think it was a team work. It has many asp pages, aspx pages, jsp pages, xml pages, css pages, etc... How to understand other person or team's website or web application that was written in asp or asp.net and vb or vb.net?
I have a form with a Tab Control that has 18 pages. When I click on a tab it opens the page and select a textbox on that page (txtTextbox1. Select() ). This works for the first 8 pages but not for the remaining 10 pages. Although on these pages I can mouse click on the textbox, enter info, save then click my Add button that clears the textboxes and has the code (txtTextbox1. Select() ). The textbox is selected just fine. The code for all my pages is the same except for the tab name and the control names. The tab key will move the selection to the next textbox in order on all pages and the Enter key is coded to do the same. The first 8 pages have a total of 256 labels, buttons, list boxes, textboxes and checkboxes on them.
Can someone tell me how to get the name of the child page being called in a Master page scenario. For example, if I have the following masterpage:
<%@ Master Language="VB" CodeFile="MasterPage.master.vb" Inherits="MasterPage" %> <!DOCTYPE html PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD XHTML 1.0 Transitional//EN" "http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml1-transitional.dtd"> <html xmlns="http://www.w3.org/1999/xhtml"> <head runat="server">
[Code]...
And I create a page called Test.aspx which inherits this masterpage, how can I, from the masterpage, know that Test.aspx has been requested (since this masterpage can be inherited by more then 1 aspx page)?
I have a master page with menu in it and i have to include that master page in all the pages i have . when i am trying to include it in my Default .aspx page i get several errors such as Parser Error Message: Only Content controls are allowed directly in a content page that contains Content controls.
I have 2 master pages with same (href) links on top of the page. Now these links load on the same master page when clicked on (by requirement). The problem is both these master pages have same links, so basically the same page shall be loaded in the master page. Now what i need is when the person is on Master Page 1 and clicks on the link it should load in the same page. Whereas if the user is on Master Page 2 and clicks on the same link, i should be able to change the master page from 1 to 2 and load that in Master Page 2.
I'm creating a barcode printing module, anyway when I generate the barcodes bitmap that contain all of the barcodes and print this bitmap using the PrintDocument control it's print the first page only
I have a very complex multi-page form I am developing in the Crystal Reports which is included in VS2008. There is always 1 Page A. There may be 1 or more page B. There may be 1 or more Page C. Page A has 7 subreports and a header from the main table. Pages B and C hold overflow records that won't fit on Page A. Page(s) B holds 1 subreport and a header from the main table. Page(s) C holds 3 subreports and a header from the main table.
My problem is the page header on pages B and C does not print except on the first page B or C and I need it to print at the top of each one. (There could be many) Pages B and C are currently subreports but evidently that doesn't work. I have to format the report this way, it's a gov't form. Does anyone know how to get a subreport (which is actually a working report) and which can grow past a single page, to display a page header at the top of each new page?
Currently I am using .NET to break apart multi-page tiffs into separate jpeg/pngs. The process on its own is perfectly fine. But after few weeks, I notice one big flaw in the page sizes. Each page I separate is the same (width/height NOT FILE SIZE) as the whole TIFF document combined. When the TIFF is displayed, this creates a massive black spot on the right/bottom of the image. This is a very big flaw as I can't determine the physical dimensions of each page as I am separating them. If I know ahead of time, I can at least write up some kind of cropping mechanism.

I have an ASP.NET page with a Wizard control containing several pages of form fields. The data is collected and inserted to a database from the code behind page. I need to set this form up so you can not only insert, but edit a record as well. Since the form is long and complex, I would rather use the existing one and not make a duplicate one for editing, especially since I want to keep both forms exactly the same and any edits would have to be made to both. But it looks like this is what I need to do if I'm going to databind it. But this would also involve putting the Wizard inside of a FormView, and then I'd have to use FindControl to access any of the fields which would mean altering all my already-existing code (which of course would be time-consuming). So should I manually enter all the values from the code behind instead of databinding it? Which is better, to use a FormView and have duplicate forms (plus have to go in and redo the way I access the fields), or to do everything from the code behind?
I am using a print preview dialog in my program (visual basic .net) and when there are multiple pages and you press the print button it only prints one page. How can I get it to print all pages when you press the print button?

I have a data-driven many-page print system that works well, each page containing logically what's next following the preceding page. To output a sub-set of pages, how can I avoid outputting pages before the first one that I actually want to send to the printer? To pick and assemble the data correctly my PrintDocument1 process has to run until I reach the 1st page to print, so it would be neat at the end of each unwanted page to 'waste' them - then from the 1st wanted page the usual e.HasMorePages will do the job.
I thought maybe PrintDocument1.Dispose() or PrintDocument1=Nothing might void the early pages I don't want (then looping back internally to construct the next page), but no. Is there another way to 'ditch' pages until the required one is reached? Or do I have to avoid using every e.Graphics.DrawString) statement until I get to the right start point? That would of course do the job, but is pretty clumsy
I have like 10 aspx pages (junior_class_students1.aspx-...10.aspx). They all have the same master page in the back (class_students.master). Everytime i load a page i want the master page background-color to change, to the one that i can specify per page. so
It is simply a "Y" in the road. If they are Company A, then I want to send the username and password over to that website and log them in as if they typed it in there. If they are Company B, then the same thing but with a different website. I do not know the term for this, so the google results are not very pretty.I can not do this with a query string (not that I'd want to anyway) as I do not want the username/pw to be visible. Here is the other weird thing. This can be done via a simple HTML <FORM> and Submit button as I have tested it. But I want to do it all in VB.NET code. How is it that it is possible with some simple HTML but not possible in VB.NET? I guess it could be a security thing, right? What do the good guys like us do when we legitimately just want our employees to go to one login page, enter their username/pw, and then (based on their username) send them to either pageA.aspx or PageB.aspx which receives their username/pw that they only entered once before on the first page?
I have some reports that I use with the MS ReportViewer and I need to get a count of the physical pages (as opposed to logical page count) to use with a print dialog. I've implemented a workaround so the ReportViewer control displays the correct number of physical pages, but is there a way to get that value from the ReportViewer control? The only publicly accessible property gives the logical page count.
I am using Stanav's PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages) for iTextSharp library (v5.1.3) and was not able to add the image to specific pages: e.g. to add to only page 1 and 3 of a five pages PDF
Dim Pages() As Integer Pages = New Integer() {1, 3} PdfManipulation2.AddImageToPage(..., Pages)
Calling AddImageToPage() with the the optional Pages parameter will add the image to all pages though.
I have a form on a .NET webserver using aspx pages with the vb code-behind pages. The form collects the entered data and then emails it, that part works fine.Right after it gets emailed, this code checks to see if the email was sent or not and then updates the landing page accordingly. I used to use just an IF THEN statement, but now that doesn't work in these new .NET pages. Here's the end of the code that I am having difficulties with:
I have heard of setting server specs to have HTML pages parsed as PHP pages by changing the .htaccess or httpd.conf files. Is there a similar solution to have HTML pages parsed as ASPX pages?
A website I am working on does not want their PageRank to lower since their HTML pages are already indexed and used on other websites but wants to use some dynamic features of aspx pages (like include the navigation file so that changes to the nav will only have to be done in that one file).
I can print and almost everything works. Basically I used KB 811401 to create a RichTextBoxPrintCtrl.dll and add it to my tool box. I have a Page Setup and a Page Print. I call Setup and change the margins. Then I call print. But I always get default margins. The margin settings I put in the Page Setup don't "take".
Here is my relavant application code. Private Sub btnPageSetup_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) [Code] .....
So, I'm adding a label programatically and I'm in need of altering the top margin a little bit to the value 8. I can't do that the obvious way, so what's wrong with my thinking?
Dim LabelAdapter As New Label LabelAdapter.text = "Adapter" LabelAdapter.Margin.Top = 8
This gives me the error "Expression is a value and therefore cannot be the target of an assignment".
I'm using a sunken label style and back color with a statusbar, no matter what settings I change, like hiding the grip and setting the grip margin to all 0, there's still a section on the right that won't go away. I want my status label to stretch all the way across the statusbar, is this possible?
I've built an app, that draws text to four rectangles on a pre-printed page with a design, I'm wondering what the margin refers to?
Also our printer doesn't print all the way to the edge, there's a white border, about the height of this little guy:If I printed from a printer that prints to the edge, will the text be in the same position as it would be if it was printed with the border around it, the text should be in the exact same position right?
1. How to get 0 padding/inner margin in the cells? I want just the border as a colored line at the next close pixel to the control in the cell. Or if border set to none, I want the controls with no gap.
2. How do I actually add/remove rows& columns? I thought this was by setting the .ColumnCount property, but if I set it to 3, and then try to access the third column, it gives exception, so it's obviously just two columns, although it also looks like 3 on the form. ? I created it in designer with 2 columns though. But I don't understand how this hangs together..
Dim z0, z1, z2 As New ZedGraphControl z0.Dock = DockStyle.Fill z1.Dock = DockStyle.Fill
I am trying to display a small icon in a combobox so I want to use EM_SETMARGINS to set a margin in it. I am using this
Private Sub SetLeftMargin(ByVal lhWnd As IntPtr, ByVal lMargin As Int32) Dim lLongValue As Int32 Dim Result As Int32 Result = SendMessageLong(lhWnd, EM_SETMARGINS, EC_LEFTMARGIN, lMargin) End Sub
It works OK with a ritchtextbox but not with the combobox text field.
I've used the following code, taken from here, to create my own custom column for datagridview, so that I can now have images and text in the same cell:
[Code]...
It works very well, except that the image that I use is right at the edges of the cell. I'd like to give it a small margin. How can I do this?
I'm using VB2008 Express. And I've been working on a "popup" to select a date range. The DateTimePicker isn't ideal because the purpose is to pick a date range, which will always be one full week, from Sunday through Saturday. The control works just fine and I'm pretty proud of it. My problem has to do with the border added when using ToolstripControlHost for this. I've included a screenshot and my code.
In the code below, assume there exists a button named "btnTimePeriod", below which I desire to show a panel, which contains a few custom items, and the panel's name is "pnlDateRangePicker".IT WORKS... but it doesn't look right. The panel itself is 147 x 326 pixels, but notice in the attached graphic that it's adding a border around the panel which I don't want. There's a border on the top, bottom, and left... but for some reason the border on the right one is especially large. Although my code doesn't expressly set it, AutoSize = true so I would have expected it to shrink around the panel.
As required, my code already does set ShowCheckMargin and ShowImageMargin false. I haven't included the code for the DrawDateCalander Sub because it's not relevant. I believe even a blank panel would yield the same result. I have no idea where this margin is coming from.
Private Sub btnTimePeriod_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnTimePeriod.Click Call DrawDateCalendar(DatePart(DateInterval.Month, FirstDisplayedSunday), DatePart(DateInterval.Year, FirstDisplayedSunday)) Call ShowControlBelow(btnTimePeriod, pnlDateRangePicker) End Sub
