Menustrip Control Maximize / Minimize - Restoring On MDI Parent?
Feb 23, 2012
I have an MDI application that uses the menustrip control. When the MDI Child window is maximized, there is no way to restore its size. There's a restore on the MDI parent but that restores the entire application. However, when I use the Main menu, there are two sets of Maximize/Minimize controls, one for the MDI parent and one for the MDI Child. The Mainmenu control adds a band that is used to display the Maximize/Minimize controls but the band the menustrip creates is not used to do the same.
I have got Skype configured to launch minimized on windows starts. Now I need to bring Skype to front from a button from my full screen application button. I have got this code:
For Each p As Process In Process.GetProcessesByName("skype") ShowWindow(p.MainWindowHandle, SHOW_WINDOW.SW_NORMAL) Next p
I am drawing graphics on the screen and when the form resizes it needs to clear and redraw all the graphics b/c the form is a different size and the graphics are supposed to scale with the size of the form. Well that works, but not for maximize or restore. So I had to look on the internet for how to capture the maximize and restore event. I got it from here and it does capture it, but it does all the events (such as redrawing the graphics) first and then it maximizes, which totally defeats the purpose. I tried to do Application. DoEvents but it still doesn't do it. Any way to have the graphics redraw AFTER it maximizes?
Code: Private Const SC_RESTORE As Int32 = &HF120 'When a Form is Restored Private Const SC_MINIMIZE As System.Int32 = &HF020& 'When a Form is Minimized Private Const SC_MAXIMIZE As System.Int32 = &HF030& 'When a Form is Maximized Private Const WM_SYSCOMMAND As System.Int32 = &H112 'Minimized/Maximized/Restore comes when we have this msg Const WM_NCLBUTTONDBLCLK As Int32 = &HA3 'When User Clicks on the Title Bar Protected Overrides Sub WndProc(ByRef m As Message) [Code] .....
I have a form with formborderstyle = none. I already know how to move this form and resize it. But I want to maximize the form when you double click it.
I already know:
Private Sub Form1_MouseDoubleClick(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.MouseEventArgs) Handles Me.MouseDoubleClick WindowState = FormWindowState.Maximized End Sub
Now its maximized, but now I want it to go to the previous size, so when you double click again when maximized, the form goes back the the previous state.
I'm building a border-less form so I can customize the Minimize-Maximize-Close buttons. I've noticed now that I can't move the form. I docked a panel up at the top of the form to replace the regular window border. I put custom Min Max Close on it. How could I program the panel to move the window like the border does with a regular window?
I want to get status of an extarnal program for example notepad.is it minimize, maximize or active or in background? how can understand from my vb application?i think need to write api function. i found somethink from forums but they just control extarnal application not give a status.
How can I put the childform in the center of it parent while in a maximize state because If I maximize it then they the child will stack on the left side of the parent and will have long empty space on the right side.
If you have ever noticed in the Task Manager, when you right-click on the running task, you have many options which include 'Minimize' and 'Maximize'. Is there anyway to do achieve this in vb?
I have two forms, one called TTB_Main and the other TTB_BuildTasks. TTB_Main is the parent form and uses:[code]I am trying to get both forms to minimise when i click the minimise button on TTB_BuildTasks but at present, TTB_Main stays even though it is inaccessable.
I'm trying to accomplish something and not sure it can be done or rather if I'm approaching it correctly. Is there a way to access a MDI Parent's menustrip without merging the childform into it? I've done the merge before and that works fine. Reason I'm trying to figure this out is that I've started toying with a windows ribbon control and am wondering how the menu functions are performed with this control. In other words you wouldn't create one on each child form and have some how merge them so there must be a way to do this from the parent control.
Things I've tried thus far are to create a public sub in the childform that will save the data to a database. Once the save button is clicked in the mdi parent's menustrip and determines the activechild it will then call that sub procedure on the childform. However it doesn't persist the data, in other words passes a whole lot of nothing to the database even though the values don't dissappear on the child form.
When the parent form has a menu strip and the child form has a menu strip the program will add all of the child menu items to the right of the parent's items. I have two parent items "Help" and "Exit" that I want to always be at the right. Is there a way to add the child options into the middle?
I have created an ASP.NET class derived from the standard WebControls.TextBox, with the intention of adding extra properties that will persist between post-backs. However, I cannot figure how to get the values in these properties to persist. I have tried setting the value of the properties into the controls ViewState as part of the PreRender handler, but the value is then not accessible in the Init handler on the post-back, because the ViewState has not yet been setup.
I could look for the ViewState value in the Load handler of the control, but if the page/usercontrol that is using the control asks for the properties value during its Load handler, the control hasn't yet reached it's Load handler, and it therefore not there.
[Code]...
In the end, the way I managed to get it to work was to use a <asp:PlaceHolder> control within the repeater, create an instance of my control within the ItemDataBound handler of the repeater, and then add the control to the <asp:PlaceHolder>... all done within the Init section (which fortunately I'm able to do).
As Andrew found out in this previous question you can end up in a chicken/egg situation, where you need to create the controls in the Init, but you won't know what controls you need until the Load.
can't seem to figure out the solution to. I have a form within a form that works fine. However when I want to maximize the form the top of it goes behind the menu bar rather than just below it as I would expect. Also, when I minimize the form it simply minimizes and hides behind the status bar at the bottom. I've tried adjust the location coordinates, window state, start location.
I have a DataGridView in one of my form which at a certain point I resize an change it's position. I would like to be able to restore it to the designer's default position at runtime. I know I could save it before changing and then restoring it later, but I feel like there surely is a way in .NET to just restore a control position to it's default.
I would like to know if there is some simple code to release a child control from it's parent control, without having to name the parent control. In pseudocode, I'm looking for something like this:
I am still messing around with Cntrl/Copy and Paste from a menustrip. Paste is working fine. The copy is working to a certain extent. It will copy the complete text field from one control to another. how do I determine what is the selected text only. My code below:
Private Sub CopyToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As EventArgs) Handles CopyToolStripMenuItem.Click Dim activeChild As Form = Me.ActiveMdiChild ' Determine the active child form. Dim activeControl As Control = activeChild.ActiveControl
If I show a new non-modal child window using .Show(frmParent), and then the parent window is minimized, the child will get minimized automatically as well.
I have a child form is form1 and parent form is mainform. You can see form1 below at picture1. I want when i maximize form1 it like picture2. Normally, when i maximize form1 , it doesn't like i expect.
how to minimize child form inside of parent mdi form in vb.net? I change the property of "IsMdiContainer" to "True". but when i minimize parent mdi form, it is not minimize the child form.
Is there a easy way to maximize a window in VB when the maximize button is pressed so that everything that is contained in the Window (Forms, Panels) will also automatically resize to the screen size?
I want to maximize my form size when i maximize my window. means when i double click on window to maximize then my form also get maximize with window, i used dock property bt still not getting proper result.
I'm trying to figure out how to keep control locations relative on maximize. For example, if i have a button on the very right hand of my window, when i maximize it, i want the button to remain on the very right hand. Or when i grow my window, i want my controls to change location so its always relative to the size of the window. how can i achieve this?
EDIT: To provide a better example, if i have a window with a button in the center, when i maximize that window the button should remain in the center rather than in the same location as before and therefore being out of place.
I'm trying to use a menustrip to control the 'bookmarks' function of my webbrowser.
The idea being, when the user opens form2 to add a new bookmark, he enters the url and name they want associated with the bookmark and then when they click the "save" button, it will add a new toolmenustripitem to the menustrip in form1, that, when clicked, will take the webbrowser in the currently selected tab to the url they specified in form2 the adding of the toolstripmenuitem was simple under the save_click event:
Code: Dim bookmrk As New ToolStripMenuItem bookmrk.Text = TextBox1.Text bookmrk.Name = "bkmrk"
