Multiple Page Form - Loading Another While Hiding Current One
Jun 9, 2011
I'm planning on a private software, that I wish that have multiple pages, like a installer. It will not be a installer or anything, and I don't want to use tabs on it (it doesn't fit to what I'm thinking.) How can I do it? I've tought on multiple forms, but I don't see how can I load another form while I hide the current 'on-the-fly'.
It is times like these that I miss the old VB6 language I wish I could hide the current forn and show another form which - this is the important thing - to be on the same level that the previous form was . You see , I used to use this code :
Me.Hide Form2.Show However , sometimes in VB .NET this does not work the way I want it to . You see , the current form does get hidden and Form2 is shown indeed ; however , Form2 is shown somewhere in the background . If there are other programs opened at that time , then Form2 is shown behind all those programs , that's what I mean by saying I want it to be shown in the same level as the previous form was the only way out , I found , was to reverse the code :
Form2.Show Me.Hide In this way Form2 is successfully shown right where the previous form was shown (above the other programs) but in some cases this also is not pleasant because it might take some time for Form2 to load while at the same time the previous form is still visible on the screen and therefore for a slight time both forms are shown one over the other , which is surely not nice . That's why I still want to first hide the first form and later show Form2 .
I feel like a complete noob for asking this because I know how to do this in VB6... But in VB.NET 2008, how would you load a new form and unload the current one? I know that in VB6 the code would be:
[code]...
The problem with that code is that it just ends my program completely without showing frmMain.
I've discovered a problem that's fairly huge in my work environment and unusual. I'd say that it's impossible for it to be happening except that it is happening.
You have a window (we'll call it window 1) open with a page in it, you enter some data on the form, push the button to submit the data...behind the scenes a decent amount of work is going on.While data is processing in window 1 , you open window 2 and try to load the same page that is processing data in window 1.Window 2 will not render the page until window 1 is done doing whatever it's doing behind the scenes and has re-rendered on the screen. This is happening for all .NET pages in our environment.
Private Sub wb_DocumentCompleted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs) Handles wb.DocumentCompleted
But I need to navigate to another page after Logging in to the website How can I wait the first page to be loaded fully then navigate to another page?
I have a form with multiple textboxes and I want the text from the text boxes to append to the current information I have in my dataGridView. How can I accomplish this? I have tried placing the text boxes information in a generic list but I can't achieve passing the list to my function...
Here's what I have tried: 'strPath is a .CSV file which I want to append to Public Function insertNew(ByVal strPath As String) Dim writer As StreamWriter = File.AppendText(strPath) [Code] .....
I know how to print a document from a file and a picture(Graphic) from a file but how do I print a current page of a Windows form I have developed. I.E. from my bank I get my statment by printing the page from a Print Page button. I tried codes I know but in my program it prints a blank Page.
I have a window application develpoed in vs 2008, framework 3.5, in which i have put a button.. Now where i click that button the other text boxes are filled up with the data from database thru web service.. what i want is while all text boxes are being filled i want to show an animated loading gif image till data loading is completed in all the text boxes.. i have tried to use image picture box but while data is loading gif image is displyes but in static mode.. cant see animation... i think this is because data loading and animation both are done thru one UI thread..
I have an web application of 200 web pages and all has a single master page. Most of the content pages use AJAX controls so most of content pages has its own ScriptManager. Now I have a requirement to add a link with HoverMenuExtender control and for that I need to put ScriptManager in the Master page, but it is working only in the content pages where there is not ScriptManager.
I am adding records to a database from a modal popup. After hiding the modal popup, the page has not been refreshed (even though I have Re-bound the controls). I have reviewed a few postings on the web about this but the solution still evades me. I have attached my code after removing some of the extra detail.
It seems I need to cause a postback, but I don't know what needs to be changed. Some posts have talked about the extender being misplaced.<asp:Content ID="Content1" ContentPlaceHolderID="Head" Runat="Server">
I'm working on a project. I want to be able to right click on a webpage and click on my custom context menu item (let's say 'screen'). What this should do is get all the page source from the current web page from where I righ clicked and save it on the disk. Basically, "right click -> view source -> file -> saveAs ", this is what i want to do programmatically.
I have three forms: A, B and C. Upon a button being clicked, A displays B. Similarly, B displays C. Both using the ShowDialog() method.
However when I use the Hide() method (inside a Button Click event) on form C to close it, form B also closes. Why would this be? As far as I can see, it shouldn't be doing this. I certainly didn't write any code to tell it to do that.

UPDATE: I am an idiot. DialogResult was set to Cancel on the button as I'd copy+pasted it from the existing Close button and not realised that property was set
I have a master page which contains everything that inherits it within a form. A page inheriting from it needs to run some javascript to act on a text field on a page. However, I can't seem to reference that text field through the javascript, since the form begins on the master page. The following line will come up bogus: document.form1.txtFindUser.value = blah.responseText; This is because form1 is defined on the master page, while txtFindUser is on the current page.
Dim xmlDoc As New XmlDocument() xmlDoc.Load(Server.MapPath("index.htm")) Or Dim xmldoc As XDocument xmldoc = XDocument.Load(Server.MapPath("index.htm"))
but i got some errors like :
Expecting an internal subset or the end of the DOCTYPE declaration. Line 2, position 14.'>' is an unexpected token. The expected token is '"' or '''. Line 1, position 62.Expecting an internal subset or the end of the DOCTYPE declaration. Line 5, position 20.
all these errors came to me when i solve one another one show up.
i'm asking do i use the perfect way to load this file or is there another way for that?
CType(TabControl1.SelectedTab.Controls.Item(0), WebBrowser).Stop() instead of WebBrowser1.Stop() for navigating.
but I want to know when a web page has finished loading?
Normally the following works, but not with tabs
Private Sub WebBrowser1_DocumentCompleted(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowserDocumentCompletedEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser1.DocumentCompleted End Sub
I am working on a project in VB.net 2008. I have a problem arising while opening a form as modal from a modeless form. I have attached a project to demonstrate the problem. This demonstration contains three forms with following characteristics. [code]...
I have a session variable that changes some things about how a page looks. I have a button that changes the value of this session variable. But ... the onClick event happens after page load, so by the time I update the session variable based on the button click, it's too late, the page has already been loaded.
Theoretically I could put all the logic about changing the display into a function and call it from page load, and then call it again from the onclick after the variable as been updated. But this is impractical: there are many user controls that check the value, used on many different pages in different combinations. I would have to hard-code the list of user controls on each page, and if someone added a new user control to a particular page, they'd have to remember to update this function, which is lame.
Is there a way to force a page reload? (I can use response.redirect back to myself and it works. If all else fails I guess this is what I'll do. But it means an extra round trip to the server, which is clumsy.)
Is there a way to process the onclick before the page load?
Why would this not work? I get the new window to open yet it does not load. When I right click to veiw source it is empty. It will load without this in IE. The Address looks normal[URL]..Private Sub WebBrowser2_NewWindow(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.ComponentModel.CancelEventArgs) Handles WebBrowser2.NewWindow
my progressbar is retarded when i try to show progress of page loading

im using my logic in the page load fn. i have an variable id. while loading page the variable id want to increment by 1 and value remain same... initially the id have 0 while calling the page load 4 times this value have to be 4.
When I right click on the ToolBox and click on Choose Items Error while loading property page comes up, and my toolbox is disabled, Also in the output this text appears:The Windows Forms Designer Package ({7494682B-37A0-11D2-A273-00C04F8EF4FF}) did not load because of previous errors. For assistance, contact the package vendor. To attempt to load this package again, type 'VBExpress /resetskippkgs' at the command prompt.
