I'm developing video intercom system. i have push button to talk. when user press the push button, i need to increase the system microphone volume and mute the system speaker. While releasing the push button, i need increase the system speaker volume and mute the system microphone volume.
View 3 RepliesI have searched the web for code relating to changing the system volume, muting the system volume, and outputing the current level of the volume as an integer, using VB.NET.
All the code that I have found either doesn't work, or is very long.
I am trying to make an application that is able to turn master volume on and off (Mute unmute). And what I have done so far is increasing and decreasing volume, but if sound is turned on mute then it wont start anyway. And that was really a lot of code to do that, so is there an easy way to mute sound or is it equally alot to do.
I have tried
SendKeys.Send(Keys.VolumeMute)
But with no effect, and I have tried using
chr(173)
instead of keys.volumemute. (I have a variable that looks if the sound was mute or not from start so it can be default afterwards).
How can I make it so a command button or whatever you'd like to use can mute the computers volume, then unmute it?
View 2 RepliesI need help declaring and executing the necessary commands to mute the volume on my computer (globally, ie. will effect all programs using sound, not just the application itself).

The Start/Stop/Pause buttons work just fine, however I can not get the volume and mute to work.I can physicaly click on the mute button and move the volume bar,but I have no control over the music volume and mute function.

View 4 RepliesI have beginner skills using VB (am using the Express edition to learn). I would like to know how to set up a conditional statement in a Windows Form (WF) app that would check if a specific command line has been passed by another separate app that launchesthe Windows Form app using command lines, and if not passed, then the Windows Form app would shut down (exit, close).So far, I can use:
For Each s As String In My.Application.CommandLineArgs
If s <> "xyz" Then
Me.Close()

First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:

View 1 RepliesDoes anyone know how to get and set the system sound volume? I have tried every method I've found on the net and none of them work. I've tried the winmm.dll APIs with no luck. I've also tried waveOutGetVolume/waveOutSetVolume, which didn't work. I'm using Win 7, but need a solution that works on XP+.
Right now I use the VolumeUp keyboard event, but I need to be able to get the volume and set it to a specific level.
I have an application that plays wav and mp3 files using the Microsoft.DirectX.AudioVideoPlayback.Audio()function. It works fine, and I can easily set the volume level of the playback... within limits.
That limit is the system volume level. I can set the playback level for the mp3, but if the system volume is muted or set real low it may still play softly.
So how do I set the master volume level, including making sure it isn't muted?

View 1 RepliesI'm trying to make a utility that will fade out the system volume (for when I fall asleep listening to my music). In XP and prior, controlling the system audio was very simple, however, in Vista and 7, I can't figure out how to do it. Because in Windows 7 each application has it's own volume control, lowering the volume doesn't affect the system overall - only the current app. Can anyone point me to a resource how to do this? Every forum posting that I've found on this topic is about XP, and doesn't work under newer versions of Windows.
View 2 RepliesI have 2 trackbars (scrolling things) and i have a song playing in a media also but what i want is it to get the left speaker volume in 1 trackbar and the right speaker volume current in another, so when the song is playin it will adjust automatically and display the current left & right speaker volume (example: when the media goes louder the trackbar will probably increase) ive seen it in many programs.
View 6 RepliesI am using the following code to run defrag and to analyze if the C: drive requires defragmentation:
Dim analyze As Process = System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("C:WindowsSystem32defrag.exe", "C: /a /h /u /v")
This process runs through analyzing, runs it in normal mode & prints the progress to the command window.
My problem is that as soon as the process is complete the command window closes. I need it to stay open so that I can read the results.
I am trying to send a command to the external command line (cmd.exe) from the Windows form application that I'm writing in VB.NET (using VS2008).
I can only access the external program thru the command line (its not my program) and I must do so from a form app.
I am trying to use the following code. I am able to call a cmd.exe window, but I can't pass the command line my command.
Using mp As New Process
With mp.StartInfo
.FileName = "cmd.exe"

I am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.

I have a device (a few actually) that connects via USB to a PC. From here it acts like a basic storage device using FAT32 as the file system. The other thing is that it won't accept drive names (C:, E:, G: etc) to it so instead you need to use its Volume GUID to connect. I have retrieved this painlessley through MountVol.exe but thats where the difficulties ended.I am not trying to access the file system through VB.NET/C#.net (either will be fine - fluent in both ;) ). In Windows Explorer I can easily visit '\?Volume{71E4C2C7-E511-4B2A-BF5C-569B2B25784E}apic' to access the device and its files. I can also use CMD and the Dir command to go through the files. Just .NET cant seem to cope. I understand the GUID changes on each PC and I am OK with this as I can use MountVol to get the GUID and run the console app with command arguments as it will always be a human initiating the command.
I have tried manually entering the path via Console.ReadKeys but this also fails to even see the directory above and any of the files inside one being 'dev' without an extention. I can use System.IO operations without extensions on "normal" drives (ie those
with letters) so I know it's not the extension causing problems. I did a Try/Catch with a StreamReader pointing to the file to see what was spurted out:
System.ArgumentException: Illegal characters in path.

View 1 RepliesI am trying to write a countdown timer I finally succeeded with MSDN. I get to work whatever I wanted, but this drives me nuts: How can I read and set the volume control? I want, once my timer is run down to zero, read out the current system setting, then play a system sound using
Media.SystemSounds.Exclamation.Play()
Over time I like to ramp up the volume to 80% or until one clicks the Alarm off button (then stop the timer, no sound, and reset volume).
