NumericUpDown Defaulting To 'Minimum' Value

Oct 4, 2011

I'm using a NumericUpDown control with a Minimum set to 10 (using for font size setting). When it is changed, it is bound to an Application setting and saved. On Form Load, I am attempting to set the value of the NumericUpDown control to the value stored in that setting (14 for example). No matter what though, it doesn't use the setting's value, it uses the value of the "Minimum" property of the NumericUpDown control.

SQL : Get Minimum Value From List Of 3, 4, 5 Digit Numbers But Want Minimum 4 Digit Number?

May 4, 2012

I'm using Visual Studio and table adapters using an Access DB as the backend. I need the minimum 4 digit value. I want to get next available 4 or 5 digit number. And this will change depending upon the users request. Currently I use a table adabpter query. But how would I write a query. I suppose I could do a long iterative loop through all values until I see a 4 digit.But I'm trying to think of something more efficient.

Function GetNextAvailableNumber(NumofDigits) as Long

.net - Array Defaulting To 'nothing' Rather Than '0' In Structure?

Mar 29, 2012

I'm currently stuck on an issue regarding declaring an array of type short in a structure and having it default to 'nothing' rather than '0' after ReDim.'Declaring array and setting it's initial size

Private Structure Totals_T
Dim sTot_Desc As String
<VBFixedArray(10)> Dim iTot_Cnt() As Short
Public Sub Initialize()
ReDim iTot_Cnt(10)
End Sub

[Code]...

When calling m_Totals(0) the arrays returned have 10 records in the arry with sTot_Desc and iTot_Cnt having values of nothing in all records. When I ReDim m_Totals both the variables I declared in the structure(sTot_Desc and iTot_Cnt) are declared as nothing, it's fine for the String but I need the Short I declared to be declared as '0', which is what I thought happens when you ReDim. Can anyone see what's going on here and why it's declaring my variables as 'nothing' rather than defaulting to '0' for the short and ""/nothing for the string?

MS Access Primary Key Keeps Defaulting To 0 Regardless Of The Specified Number In VB?

Apr 29, 2009

I am in the process of creating a system using VB in Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. The system which I am creating is connected to an Access database via a tableadapter.Currently, I am coding a form for a table called Employee and this form allows the user to create a new employee, edit or delete an existing employee. Editing and deleting an existing employee works fine but adding a new employee is causing me trouble. When I specify an employeeID (this is the primary key), the declared value is stored appropriately in memory and it also displays in the form, however once I save the new employee to the database, the employeeID always defaults to 0 for some unknown reason. So, the record which I've just entered has a primary key of 0 regardless of what the the primary key should be.

The employeeID is declared as an integer and the value is obtained by getting the employeeID of the last record in the table and adding 1 onto it. I've also tried hard coding the employeeID and a specific number, but this does not make any diffence. I've reused the code from another part of the system which works fine before, but why it suddenly doesn't work is baffling me. The employeeID field in Access is a long integer.

Defaulting A Reference's Copy Local To False?

Jan 11, 2010

Is there a way to default the Copy Local property of references that I add to my projects? I figure there has to be some sort of method since adding a reference to a VB componentdefaults to False. (for example, start a project as a class library and then adda reference to System.Windows.Forms, it will default Copy Local False.) Is that somethingin the DLL's settings or configuration that I could replicate in my DLLs to force that

Forms :: [2005] Form-To-Form ComboBox Item Defaulting?

Jan 18, 2011

I have been creating a call management application and I am having a problem with something that I have spent weeks on trying to get working and nothing I try is working for me. My application is an MDI application written in VB.NET 2005 Professional, using .NET Framework 2.0. It uses a back end database using Microsoft SQL Server 2005.When the MDI application launches, a form is displayed to the end user asking for phone number (MaskedTextBox) and a partner name. The partner names are within a ComboBox.

When the end user types in the phone number and selects a value from within the ComboBox, s/he clicks on the start button. This then opens a second form. The phone number from the MaskedTextBox is to default in a second MaskedTextBox (this I am able to get working without issue.) The partner name selected from the ComboBox is to default on the second ComboBox. This is the part where I have been working on it for weeks and not able to get it to function.

The second form has many ComboBoxes, all of which pull down items from a particular table within the database. Some of them are editable and some are not. The ones that are editable are also auto complete Suggest/Append on the ListItems.I wrote a sub to handle the population of these ComboBoxes and also to handle if they are editable or not. All of this is working. However, my main issue is that I can't get the value on the second form to default to what ever was selected on the first form. I do not get any errors but regardless of what I do, the second form always stays as the first item in the list regardless.

The code I am using is as follows:

<CLSCompliant(True)> Public Sub PopulateDropDownListFromDB(ByVal cboName As Elegant.Ui.ComboBox, _
ByVal TableName As String, ByVal ColumnName As String, _
ByVal UseAutoComplete As Boolean, _
ByVal UseSQLDistinct As Boolean)

Printing With Minimum Margins Specified By The Printer?

Nov 1, 2009

I want to utilize the maximum paper area (A4 size sheet). Therefore I must get the minimum margins that specific printer can handle. I have more printers attached to th pc, so I can not hardcode these values. I have tried to set margins to zero, but that results in printing outside the page at right side and bottom:

PrintDocument1.DefaultPageSettings.Margins.Left = 0
PrintDocument1.DefaultPageSettings.Margins.Top = 0
PrintDocument1.DefaultPageSettings.Margins.Right = 0
PrintDocument1.DefaultPageSettings.Margins.Bottom = 0

So my question is: is it possible to read the selected printers minimum margins without have to open a PageSetupDialog, and therefore make it possible to utilize maximum printing area with code only?

VS 2010 - Vertical Trackbar (Minimum Value On Top)

Aug 29, 2011

I'm using a vertical trackbar. I got it all set: minimum and maximum values, tickfrequency etc... and so on... everything works great. The only problem is that I would like to have the minimum value of the trackbar on the top. In horizontal trackabar you can choose the RightToLeft property to put the minimum value to the left or to the right, but how do I make it to put the minimum value on the top if I have it in vertical orientation? There has to be a way to somehow "flip" it... but how?
Here is a link to video on youtube, which show my problem. I want it to be the other way round - from top to bottom: [URL]

At the moment I've seen things like:
