Controlling External Application Using Windows Handles
Dec 22, 2009I am trying to control an external application using visual basic. I have spy++ in order to get the windows handles of all the tool bars/buttons etc. Can someone refer me to some code/ tutorials on how i can control the application. I will need to perform mouse clicks (ex clicking file>open) and sending key strokes in that application.

Jul 1, 2009If I have two instances of the same form open, and one is on top of the other and I want to go to the one on the bottom, I have to click the form to bring it to the front.. I changed this so that if i click the panel(which represents the forms background) I have it bring it to the front.. But now I am having the issue where I click a control in that panel it wont bring it to the front.. So i know how to do this.. I can make a procedure handle all the controls onclick events by typing each controls name.click event

May 23, 2010What i want to do is grab the handle of a webbroswer control and only read the co-ordinates within those bounds. I have successfully manager to do this but the problem i am now having is moving the mouse to those co-ordinates, for some reason after getting the handle and moving the mouse:
Windows.Forms.Cursor.Position = WebBrowser1.PointToClient(New Point(x, y))
It still reads full screen co-ordinates.

Aug 24, 2010I have an application and Spy++ reports that the parent window has many controls that are hidden. When I do a mouse click on the application's window, a number appears and I suppose it's the hidden controls that change their text/picture.So, is there a way to iterate the parents hidden controls names, get their handles and then activate them one by one (with sendmessage/postmessage wm_buttonclick) to see what changes?Right now I get the windows handle with FindWindow and the window's process id.

I wish to query information from an Active Directory server using a Visual Basic 2008 console application. I have .NET Framwork 3.5 installed and VB 2008 Express installed. Do I need to install anything else (any additional libraries or components)? Is VB 2008 Express capable of accessing information from Active Directory? Where can I find information about the classes and methods I should use query information from Active Directory?

I've 'attempted' both but haven't found anything to control the position. I've also found some code using Api32 functions, FindWindow, MoveWindow, etc, but have not been successful at those either.

Mar 17, 2009I have looked all over for an answer to this question and have failed to find one. I have two applications. App1: I have no control over anything in this application aside from standard user inteface options. (Enter text, apply, ok) Someone else has created this program and I have no direct access to the database or any code. I can not make any changes to this application.App2: This is the application that I am currently creating. All changes will need to be made here.I currently have a program set up to copy information from App2 to App1. A user clicks a button in App2 and then goes to App1 and hits F8. App2 is waiting to get F8 and when it does it proceeds to use a series of sendkeys to enter the information from App2 into App1.Question 1: Is there a better way to get info from App2 into App1?I am trying to "smarten" my program up a bit. I would like it to read fields from App1 and compare them to certain variables and then do an action. I have tried to use sendkeys to copy from App1. This sometimes works, and other times the clipboard says object not collected it is not a valid format. So this method is obviously not reliable enough for me.Question 2: How do I copy data from a text box in App1? Sendkeys seems to not work. Again, keep in mind that I don't know textbox names in App1 so as far as I know, I can't do anything like textbox1.copy.
