I know the long way round would be to try and run it on a machine with just .NET 1.1 on, then if that doesnt work try it on a machine with 2.0 on, etc etc
View 3 RepliesI have two objects - one that contains some code with will fire an event, and one that contains the handler for that event. I can't "AddHandler" in the Load of the first object,because an instance of the second object doesn't exist yet. When I raise my event, I want to check to see if a copy of object2 has been instantiated (easy to do), and if a handler has been attached to the event yet (not sure how to do this).I'm also open to another recommendation about how to do this instead. If I do my AddHandler in Object1.Load, and Object2 doesn't exist yet, then it will never handle my event, even if I create it later.Right now, in the code that fires the event, I've just resorted to doing a RemoveHandler and then an AddHandler every single time the event is raised, and then I know I'll attach when the object finally exists, but I know this is a crappy method.

I have an MDI application that can either run in TABBED or WINDOWED mode. When a user selects something from the menu a form is shown. All menuItem clicks pretty much look the same:

Is it possible to have a sub that is triggered when any control of a specified type is clicked (or some other interaction), and then within the code of that sub, determine the sender and depending on the sender perform an action?For example, you create buttons dynamically, and assign them a name based on a counter that tells the number of buttons on the form. Now you click on a button, but there was no code written for 'button123.mouseclick' specifically. View 5 RepliesI need to be able to detect when an external program closes so that I can start another event within VB 2005. I have tried to do this by monitoring the processes on my computer. The problem is that this programs comes up as some weird sub-process. It has an Image Name, which is indented from the other Image Names, and it shows that the User Name is the Administrator. This is the only information you can get from the Processes tab. There is a Task Name under the Applications tab, however. I was wondering if there was some code to monitor the Applications tab instead of the Processes or if there is yet another way to do this.

how to center an external app on the screen, an example would be Adobe Reader, using either Process.Start or Shell. I've 'attempted' both but haven't found anything to control the position. App1: I have no control over anything in this application aside from standard user inteface options. (Enter text, apply, ok) Someone else has created this program and I have no direct access to the database or any code. I can not make any changes to this application.App2: This is the application that I am currently creating. All changes will need to be made here.I currently have a program set up to copy information from App2 to App1. A user clicks a button in App2 and then goes to App1 and hits F8. App2 is waiting to get F8 and when it does it proceeds to use a series of sendkeys to enter the information from App2 into App1.Question 1: Is there a better way to get info from App2 into App1?I am trying to "smarten" my program up a bit. I would like it to read fields from App1 and compare them to certain variables and then do an action. I have tried to use sendkeys to copy from App1. This sometimes works, and other times the clipboard says object not collected it is not a valid format. So this method is obviously not reliable enough for me.Question 2: How do I copy data from a text box in App1? Sendkeys seems to not work. Again, keep in mind that I don't know textbox names in App1 so as far as I know, I can't do anything like textbox1.copy.
