Operation Could Not Be Completed And Weird Crashes Yet Builds Fine
Feb 2, 2011
Got Visual Studio 2010 Express Edition and have been building an app on Windows 7 64bit, then bought that app into work to continue work on Windows XP 32bit.When I load it, it will run first time happily but when I try and run it again it either says The Operation could not be completed or just freezes, crashes or does not responding, yes if I build the app to an exe file it works fine everytime?Due to the fact of odd errors etc I am really baffled and frustrated why it's so random?
Problem: The excutable of the vb program crashes when trying to run but when I step through the program inside of visual studio it runs successfully.
Details: The program performs a winscp.com transfer from a ftp server and then takes the downloaded file and extracts the data from it before sending it to a webpage. The program also decrypts a des3 encrypted file which holds the login details for the sftp server and the webpage.
My Thoughts: I was thinking this could be something to do with the excutable jumping ahead of the slower transfer and decrypt functions thus causing a "file not found" exception to be produced and the program to exit. Lending to this if I slowly (aka spend 10+ seconds stepping through the code) move through the code it works just fine.
As requested Crash Messages:(I capture everything in exceptions and exit properly so no "crash" is reported but the error I get in my logs is as follows:)
1st run with standard test case:Could not find file 'C:UsersAdministratorDesktop..ILC2INFOENC.txt'
2nd run standard case (the file above was not deleted by my cleanup function either as it could not be found)Could not find file 'C:UsersAdministratorDesktop..ILCNETSL10663.csv'
Background:The first file that is found missing is the encrypted login information file while the second file is the winscp.com downloaded csv file.
I have installed vb.net 2010 express , but when I run It I get : "Error , the operation could not be completed".And I cannot do nothing with visual studio 2010.
I made an icon for my program and tried to implement it.Funniest thing though, I get a message with the error icon saying the operation completed successfully. But the icon doesn't change, nor is it my icon drop down box when I click the arrow. Ergo, it didn't complete successfully....I am using ASP.NET 2.0 and have read some about this error but I don't see any fixes I can do, aside from what I've tried already.
I am running on the VB8 and expirienced an error during debugging after some changes in "My project" area. I have noticed (on two different machine) that after change for example Startup Form or Security Area, I am not able to debug program any longer. An error appears, telling me that:
The Operation Could not be completed.
After clicking OK (nothing else is available) and next try of debugging, another error message appear:
Visual Studio could not copy a support file to this location: "path". Please verify the path exists and is writeable. After that, I have to close Visual Basic and restart it. Than everything works fine...till next change of "My project"
I am working on win32 application using Visual studio 2010 and Windows 7. Whenever I Click to "ADD" a "resource" to the project, I come across a messagebox with an error.. "Operation could not be completed. Access is denied".
when i double click my dbml file at the solution explorer, I get this error: the operation could not be completed. unspecified error I'm working on a VB.Net project, using visual studio 2008, mssql 2008.
I am running a simple test app that opens an OLEDB connection, retrieves a single value, then closes. The compiled (console) app works fine, but running it from the IDE causes either a silent close (if it's a winforms app) or a crash of vshost32.exe if it's a console app.
The devenv is VB 2010 Express on Windows x64, but I have the configuration manager on the solution set to "Debug" - "x86".
Imports System.Data.OleDb Module Module1 Sub Main() Dim server As String = "xxxxx"
Time ago, I migrated to windows 7, and to get my old code running, I was forced to run Visual studio as administrator. Now I want to recode, so Visual Studio, and the program do not need to run as administrator. The first problem I get is that Visual Studio 2008 does not save the modified files without administrator rights.
Each time I try to save a file (or even run the code, which saves the files before running), I get the error message "The operation could not be completed".
it seems that I don't have rights to overwrite those files. Also, when my code crash (because I don't have administrator rights), I cannot debug. I am asked to open another instance of visual studio, but it refuses to debug, because the code is already opened.
I am using Visual Studio 2008. While opening some of the .resx file, it is giving me error that "The operation cannot be completed. Invalid Pointer". What can be the possible problem and solution?
I have an SBS 2003 server with a mapped drive. I open a VB program from the *.sln file. I can immediately hit F5 to run it. Then if I edit properties to a control (in this case the Crystal Viewer control or a text box), I cannot run the program again. It gives me the error above. It did not happen with VS 2008 with other projects but this project was started from scratch in VB 2010 (I don't currently have any others in VB2010 to test). The build does succeed. After I get the error message, I try F5 (or F8) again and it does nothing, no errors, nothing. I can then exit the program, go back in and then run without problems, until I do some editing on the controls again. Small edits to just code do not seem to be a problem. Not sure if this was the correct forum for this question, but hopefully someone has seen this before and knows a solution.
I have a problem with some programs that when code is altered then run I get "The operation could not be completed" message and have to restart Visual Studio to allow me to run it
When i click on the visual basic shortcut on my desktop, it shows the splash screen at the exact time as it shows that error message:
"The operation could not be completed"
I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling 5 times I have googled the program and looked on the support site but no one else has this problem I am running windows 7 without service packs
At college we run 32 bit computers and at home i build my programs to bring in but i have a 64 bit computer, i need to know if theres a way so it builds and saves the program as a 32 bit on a 64 bit computer.
I am totally new to Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 and the programming language itself. how to make a browser. The browser works in debug mode, and I clicked build under build at the top. At the bottom it says build succeeded, but I have no idea where the program was actually saved to. I have Windows XP SP3.
I have a setup project in my solution. There are interop dependencies on msADOX and oledb32. On my Vista build machine these dependencies don't show up in the "Detected Dependencies" list (only the two interop assemblies), and my solution builds just fine.
On the production build machine (XP), the build fails with two errors: ERROR: 'oledb32.dll' should be excluded because its source file 'C:Program FilesCommon Filessystemole dboledb32.dll' is under Windows System File Protection.
I need to check the current date and month to see if they are only 1 character long (1 - 9 - January to September) and if so I need to insert a 0 before the value in a string. Now the code I have been using is Len(Now.Month) which for some reason is returning 4 even though the current Month is February (thought this would return 1).I I use Len(Now.Month.ToString) it comes through as 1, which is what I want.
I have code that adds 0.25 to textboxes each time + is pressed, and subtracts it when - is pressed. This is the
[Code]...
I don't know of any better way to have it handle each textbox, hence the long string.Anyway, these boxes are populated from a database and this code seems to work fine if there is already a number in the box. If the box is empty and I try incrementing it, I only get the actual "+" or "-" in the box and it locks my whole form out. Clicking other textboxes doesn't activate them, and my buttons press but do nothing. I can't even exit the program with the "X" in the upper right. As far as I can tell that's how to replicate it anyway.
I just finished putting the first 6 datagrid controls on my form and i went to go test it and got this build error: Error 4 Value of type 'String' cannot be converted to 'System. Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn'.C:SoftwareForm1.vb 1425 19..When the line generating the error is this Me.Name = "Form1".where it has the "Form1" portion underlined in blue. This is a weird error because that line was made by the IDE to say the name of the form and has nothing to do with 'System.Windows.Forms.DataGridViewTextBoxColumn'.I tried saving my progress and restarting the IDE with no luck..Now I cannot even access the form in designer mode,One or more errors encountered while loading the designer. The errors are listed below. Some errors can be fixed by rebuilding your project, while others may require code changes. The designer cannot process the code at line 1424: Me.Name = "Form1" The code within the method 'InitializeComponent' is generated by the designer and should not be manually modified.
I had a lengthy subroutine with handler routines, like this, before:
Private Sub CompMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles _ ToolStripMenuItem3.Click, ToolStripMenuItem4.Click, ToolStripMenuItem5.Click,
I'm trying to download this website: url...And filter out the data in order to get the "Original Telephone Company", and etc, but it's showing this data, instead of what it should be showing:[code]Is there any way to fix that / convert it in .NET?
I was getting weird results when doing multiple splits on a string, so I decided to make a simple test to figure out what was going ontestString "1234567891011121314151617181920"If I wanted to get whats between 10 to 20 in Javascript I would do this:var results = testString.split("10")[1].split("20")[0]Which would return 111213141516171819However when I do this in VB I get 111Split(testString,"10")(1).Split("20")(0)It seems the 2nd split is only recognizing the first character no matter what I put.
I want to create a regex to find words which have capital words in between them. Can anyone please tell me how to find it?For example: I went to a school forEducation and then didn't study.I want words like forEducation. I think we use [a-z][A-Z] to find all alphabets but can't really find it. I am thinking along the lines of merging the above two options, but then how is it going to check for capital alphabets? Also I wouldn't want to select any words which have capital letters in the start, because they are valid.Reason : This is occurring because of scraping text from online websites and they have no proper formatting. I get these words as text and want to replace them.
i made a program in which you put in a number like 10, and there are 10 cards. If you put in a number like 23, here is a possible output -
Card #1 - 3 Card #2 - 20 the rest 0
etc, where all the cards values adds up to the number you submit (the values displayed will be random)
The thing is, when i do a number below 10,000, it will come up as one card equaling that number and the rest equaling zero. If i do it a number 10,000 or larger, it will split it like it is supposed to.
[Code]...
interestingly, if you put in a break point, it works like it is supposed to!
What is going on? And why does it matter the size of the number for it to matter?
