I have a program that runs a command line and retrieves the output, but the output I receive is unorganized and run-on. Since 3 processes are being run, I'd like each process results to be listed on a different line.
Here is the code:
Dim viewteam = Page.Request.Form("viewteam")
Dim arg As String = "/c net localgroup hglocal-" & viewteam & "-gold"
Dim arg2 As String = "/c net localgroup hglocal-" & viewteam & "-rw"
I have 2 VB programs that I would like to communicate with each other, but I want them to be separate EXEs. Anyway, the easiest way I figured would be for me to call the one program from the other and then return a result. How do I get this result into another program?
Here is how I want it to work:
1. Start System Information Program (easy)
2. Call a video test program, and send a couple arguments (see below)
3. Receive arguments from the video test (I do not know how to do this, I do not know how to send from the video test or receive from the system information)
I am using this to capture output from the command line: url...Is there a way to modify that, so I can get the results as they are updated? [code]Is there a way to capture that output every time it is updated so I can change a text box as it get updated?
I have beginner skills using VB (am using the Express edition to learn). I would like to know how to set up a conditional statement in a Windows Form (WF) app that would check if a specific command line has been passed by another separate app that launchesthe Windows Form app using command lines, and if not passed, then the Windows Form app would shut down (exit, close). So far, I can use:
For Each s As String In My.Application.CommandLineArgs If s <> "xyz" Then Me.Close()
First let me say that I am not sure whether or not this should go in this section or the API section, and if it needs to be moved I apologize. My issue is fairly straight forward, but for some reason I cannot get it to work.
I am trying to send a command to a command line and then submit the command. I have been trying without success to get this to work in v2008 Express and v2010 Express, Here is the code I am trying to us:
Private Declare Function FindWindow Lib "user32" Alias "FindWindowA" ( _ ByVal lpClassName As String, _ ByVal lpWindowName As String _
I am using a CheckedListBox that is populated with Filenames (full path, i.e. C:TestTest.jpg)When I have the files that I want in the CheckedListBox I wish to click a Start Button which will process the list one at a time using an exe program that runs on the Command Line. There are arguments that need to pass to the command line as well as the file location in order for the program to process.I currently have it working but the issue is the loop finishes quickly and it is left up to the CMD.exe to finish the process. What I would like is for the LOOP to wait until each file completes processing before passing the command for the next file in the CheckedListBox.There some reasons I wish for it to work this way.
1) I would like to have a button that can Pause/Restart the Loop.
2) I would like to have a button that can Stop the Loop so the whole process can end.
3) I would like to have the Loop remove each file one by one from the CheckedListBox after it has been processed.
4) I would like to display a Message once all the files have been processed.
5) And if it were possible I would like to report the status either by text or a progress bar showing where it is at in the process.
6) And the ability to add some error handling if possible.
Since the Loop finishes so quickly as it just passes the command to the command line using the & as a seperator it is the command line that is handling the rest of the process. Because of this there is not control over it in the GUI.The code I am using allows the Command Line text to display in the Form so it won't open up a seperate window to run CMD.exe. This is the desired affect as I would like everything to appear to run from within the Form itself.
I have a VB.net program in which I call the Shell function. I would like to get the text output that is produced from this code in a file. However, this is not the return value of the executed code so I don't really know how to.
This program is a service but has access to the disk no problem as I already log other information. The whole service have multiple thread so I must also make sure that when the file is written it's not already accessed.
I am building a quiz application which has 5 categories. I am saving details like name, category and score to DB. Table where all data is saved looks like :
Name Category Score John Windows 10 Tom Mac 5
On the start page i want to disable/enable categories if user has/has not took quiz yet (ie. if John has already completed Windows quiz but hasn't Mac then enable Mac Quiz, disable Windows and show Windows score).Whats the most elegant way of retrieving these values from database and then passing them to variable or boolean? What if search returns NULL (if quiz was not taken by John) and manipulating output from SQL Database? I am using vb.net 2.0 and SQL server 2005 and its an asp.net application.
I am struggling to pass a parameter to a VB.NET application via a Windows scheduled task. It works perfectly in Visual Studio (passing a command line arguement via project properties). If I am calling a VB6 application, then I will supply the following parameters and it works:
Run: c:progra~1TestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: c:progra~1Test However, if I supply the same parameters in VB.NET, the program throws an exception when it tries to create an instance of a class in the Form.Load: System.NullReferenceException cannot create instance of object.
I have also tried the following:Run: c:program filesTestTest.exe TestParameter Start In: "c:program filesTest" This time the status of the scheduled task changes to "cannot start".What is the correct way to specify command line parameters in a scheduled task for a VB.NET program?UPDATE I found the solution on this web page:[URL}.. I am still confused as to why the program would not create an instance of an object when I used the 8 bit paths (i.e. progra~1)
I'm trying to find a simple way of checking user stats via FTP, wininet seems to be the best option. How do I get the output from the command though? [code]
I'd like to have a macro in Visual Studio 2005 that calls a DOS command and redirects the output (stdout and stderr) to a file. Just calling the command and ">" redirecting it will not capture stderr, so there are two parts to this:
calling a DOS command capturing both stderr and stdout to a file during that call
I'd then like to open this file in Visual Studio after the command completes.
I am trying to get the output of a CMD command attached to a RichTextBox control. For this sample, I am using the PING command. It works but unfortunately not the way I want it to. Instead of 'appearing' in my RichTextBox line by line, it waits until the entire process is completed and then it attachs it to my RTB.
Getting command parser to work. I've made a new topic for this, because the old one isn't getting much attention, but also, I wanted to refine my questions, so that they would be easier to work with..
Here's how I have this code set up in my project..
I have a function module with public functions like so..
Code:
in my public class GameWindow I have the sub for the first rooms look command..
Code:
Now everything is going to be fed through a button click. User imputs MyString, and presses button. Here's the button code.
Code:
This isn't generating any output.. not sure how to go about getting it working. ha, I'm learning though...slowly, but surely. I like the hands on approach of implementing things into my project, and working with them. I learn better that way, plus the project'll get completed eventually.
I want to run a dos command with a button and the output need to come in the outpud textbox.the only problem is that i need to give another option in the dos command, how can i do this? This is what i use. but how can i give the second command in that command that is already running?
Private Sub CMDAutomate2() Dim myprocess As New Process Dim StartInfo As New System.Diagnostics.ProcessStartInfo StartInfo.FileName = "cmd" 'starts cmd window
Based on the title I'm sure you all understand what I want... So, I need to work with CMD through my app. and I searched google and vbforums and I found some solutions but none of them helped me because all I found was either older version like VB.net 2005 like this topic HERE (and this is exactly what I want) and found some in other languages like c# or c++ that I really don't now them..
I am running a command on all computers from a list. I am trying to get back a text file that says PASS or FAIL for each computer. I am using the below StreamWriter and function process. The process runs correctly and it rights to both a data file and an error log. The error log however always says PASS for everything. do I know what to set the if consoleOutput = "????" to?
Using swrr As New StreamWriter(ErrorLog, True) For Each strUserName As String In strLines Dim ConsoleOutput As String = GetCMDOutput(strUserName, saveFileDialog3.FileName & ".txt",
I want to run some dos commands (eg: a ROBOCOPY) and show the output from this realtime in a text window to show the user something is happening. The command may take a number of minutes so it's important the output is showing in the VB application realtime, and not just all at the end. Obviously the user will wonder what is happening during this time.
Every time I try and redirect input and output of command prompt I have a problem. The debugger itself crashes! Something must really be wrong. What is a good way to launch CMD and send commands to it, receive output.
I am creating a class that represents a vehicle of some kind, called "Transporter". The number of wheels the vehicle has is variable, and is stored in a property. I want the wheels themselves to have their own properties, individually. How do I properly set up a class that is nested within another class? Right now I have two separate classes, where one of the vehicles' properties is a collection(of WheelModule). I just want an outsider opinion, as I have never done this before.
VB.net Private ModuleCountVal As Integer <Description("Number of Wheel Modules")> _ Property ModuleCount() As Integer
I am having an issue with naming buttons based on the line output. I can a message box to pop up with each line, however I would like to have each button named different lines of the output.
vb.net Private Function nview_run() As Boolean Dim nview_runProcess As New Process() Dim nview_runStartInfo As New ProcessStartInfo()
I've been working on a calculation program and it needs to access both a list of constants and a list of variables. So far during development I've used local .txt files and read from them using a StreamReader that accesses them directly using the full path.Obviously that won't work for a published version as there's no guarantee that the files will ever be put in the same place so I'm looking for a way around that.
I've managed to get the constants file converted into a .resources file but the conversion seems to have changed the order of the constants, ie: Pi was first in the original file but is now second. The rearrangement doesn't seem to be alphabetical either as the next pair of entries start with s before we move back to p. Is there any way to force resgen to preserve the order of the elements? Is there a different method I should use?
I am refactoring a large and complicated code base in .NET that makes heavy use of P/Invoke to Win32 APIs. The structure of the project is not the greatest and I am finding DllImport statements all over the place, very often duplicated for the same function, and also declared in a variety of ways:The import directives and methods are sometimes declared as public, sometimes private, sometimes as static and sometimes as instance methods. My worry is that refactoring may have unintended consequences but this might be unavoidable.
My instict is to organize a static/shared Win32 P/Invoke API class that lists all of these methods and associated constants in one file... EDIT There are over 70 imports to the user32 DLL.(The code base is made up of over 20 projects with a lot of windows message passing and cross-thread calls. It's also a VB.NET project upgraded from VB6 if that makes a difference.)
My program utilizes various images of different sizes. I want to organize these images so that they all fit into a predetermined space without resizing any of them. They need to be organized in such a way to use as much of the predetermined space as possible. I guess it would be like organizing photos in one of those old photo albums (with the translucent, mildly adhesive, peel-back plastic sheet that held the photos in place) so that you could get as many photos on a page as possible. Or you could think of it sort of like Tetris? Except all the pieces are rectangles.
I assume I would use a recursive function to loop through all the images to find out if they fit or not, then returning the best outcome? I tried searching for code samples but searching for Organizing Images or Organizing Shapes gives less than desirable results.
This isnt the first time i have posted about a graph, last time i was posting about which way i should do it, now that i have created the graph (by drawing individual lines) i was wondering what the easiest way to actually get data from a SQL database and output it as a line on a graph. here is a picture of what the graph looks like (bottom of the page) [URL]
