OwnerDrawFixed Tabs Is Back - Clear All Stuff Draw On The Tab?
Jul 21, 2009
In a TabControl (with ownerDrawFixed) I used e.Graphics.DrawString in ItemDraw for drawing a string (the title of an webBrowser), but when it's changing, it's add a new string, it don't change the allready one, so... Is there an option to clear all stuff drew on the Tab? (Just wan't the command, e.Graphics.Command)Note: Clear did just change the background color
I'm quite new to databases so this might be a very basic question: How does one replace a table in a local MS Access database with a new dataset?
I'm able to read the contents from the database into the dataset DatabaseDataset, change it so it looks perfect, but when I update the Access database, it only adds the dataset instead of replacing the existing contents. I tried to clear the contents of the database, but that doesn't work either.
Iw ould like to know how to make it so every time you click on a button a different outcome can happen from the opens i gave the application.such as: when i click button 1.i will want it to either close the application or show a textbox but the outcome should be random out of the two.Like a dice if you get 1, 2, 3 the application will execute command "Me.close()" but if it rolls 4, 5, 6 it will execute the command "textbox1. show()"
I have an app with a TabControl that has 4 tabs on it. Each tab has probably 15 or so controls on it.This app is multilingual, so sometimes I need to resize things dynamically to make everything fit properly. For instance,I might need to resize a GroupBox to ensure a CheckBox can fit inside it properly if the language is changed. The language selection is on the tab with the GroupBoxes.
This dynamic resizing works flawlessly if I am already on the tab with the GroupBoxes when I make the language change, but when I start the app (on the first tab, not the language tab), my controls are being dynamically resized incorrectly (on the language tab).Further investigation showed me that only the first (currently selected) tab was the proper width, let's say 500, and the other tabs report 400 as their width, even though of course, they are indeed the same size.
I suspect this behavior is because unviewed tab pages are not... initialized? I'm not sure if that is the correct term. Even though I'm resizing controls on them? How can I bypass this behavior? Selecting each tab programmatically to "initialize" them does work, but is not a feasible option in this case, as the user can see it happening.
In Vb.Net 2005, how is it possible to make the TabPage.Text to appear when the DrawMode of a TabControl is set to OwnerDrawFixed. I have even tried to set the TabPage.Text in the Form_Load event but of no avail.
I was wondering if there was a solution to replacing the tab control's tabs with custom tabs made in Photoshop. I know there are plenty of super expensive programs that can do it, but I was wondering if there was a way to do it programmatically. I was thinking that maybe it could linked in some way with a .DLL?
My code is basically a file parser/editor and it handles most files fine as they hold a handful of records concerning family members. However there are a few files that crash when trying to deal with them. Here is the problem. Each family member record creates 3 tabs that hold an average of 3 group boxes each. Each group box holds an average of 3 text boxes. So each member record creates 3x3x3 = 27 text boxes and some files get up to 289 family members which = 7803 text boxes.
The problem is the rare file with 400+ member records = 10,800 text boxes which causes a crash due to using up all the window handles. Each member has a separate tab page (with 3 subpages) but really only a dozen or so member pages are visible in the GUI with scroll arrows to move through them so I was thinking of somehow making the GUI a scrollable window so the tabs get built, displayed and disposed as the user scrolls left and right through the member tabs.
The files are parsed into a 3d list DataList(x,y,z) where x is the page number, y is the group box number and z is the text box number. So all the data is available. The code then traverses MyList and builds GuiList(x,y) where x is the page number and y is the groupbox number with all the textbox.text linked to MyList(x,y,z) locations so all text changes are reflected in the MyList.
I already have a memberCount variable and I am thinking of building, say, the first 30 member tabs with the middle 10 being visible in the GUI. If the selected tab > 20, then dispose of the first 10 tabs and create tabs 30-40.I am thinking I will keep all the member tab pages so I don't have to deal with inserts and indexing problems but just dispose all the group boxes and text boxes for tab pages out of view. I already have a deep clone sub that clones members when the user wants to add a new family member and I am thinking I will have to add something similar when a tabpage is passed in for disposal, it traverses and disposes each text box, then disposes the group box for each group box on the tab page.Additionally, another routine will rebuild the group boxes from the data held in MyList(x,y,z) when a tabpage(x) is passed in.

I have a timer that runs every time by itself, and for the code the runs in it I would like to have it clear the dataset before it does anything, the timer runs every 10 seconds, so I tried to do dataset.clear but it would crash if the dataset had no values
I am making a custom ComboBox, inherited from Winforms' standard ComboBox. For my custom ComboBox, I set DrawMode to OwnerDrawFixed and DropDownStyle to DropDownList. Then I write my own OnDrawItem method. But I ended up like this:
How do I make my Custom ComboBox to look like the Standard one?
Update 1: ButtonRenderer After searching all around, I found the ButtonRenderer class. It provides a DrawButton static/shared method which -- as the name implies -- draws the proper 3D button. I'm experimenting with it now.
Update 2: What overwrites my control?I tried using the Graphics properties of various objects I can think of, but I always fail. Finally, I tried the Graphics of the form, and apparently something is overwriting my button.
Here's the code:
Protected Overrides Sub OnDrawItem(ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.DrawItemEventArgs) Dim TextToDraw As String = _DefaultText __Brush_Window.Color = Color.FromKnownColor(KnownColor.Window)
why the text produced in the following listboxes are not exactly the same?
The text produced by ListBox6 (DrawMode.OwnerDrawFixed) is not aligned with the text produced in ListBox5 (DrawMode.Normal) although the text and the font is the same for both listboxes.
Here's the code:
Private Sub Form1ToolStripMenuItem_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Form1ToolStripMenuItem.Click ' ' ListBox5 - DrawMode=DrawMode.Normal
in hyper teriminal when i press "ctrl+L" is to clear terminal screen how to write the code in vb.net? Hyperterminal is connecting to serial comport.when i try this it work and return line on debug

I need to get the DataGridView to perform the way it should perform. I'm new to the .NET environment, but I learn fairly quickly. However, I find it difficult to decipher themassive black box of the DataGridView control enough to make it do anything other than what it already does--Draw very slowly.
I am using an image button and on click of it i want to go to visited page. Now i am using - Response.Redirect(Request.UrlReferrer.ToString()),It is going to previous page, but when i am in a page of some user details where the link is looks like - users.aspx?userid=25 and i visit some other page and click back(image button) i want to see the same userdetail page. How to track that.
I have a search page with a couple of pulldowns. Dependig on the values of them I show a grid matching the searched criteria, basically a table with links the user can navigate to. My problem comes when the user wants to navigate back. At the moment I have a "Back" button which simply redirects the user to the initial search page. I think it would be a good improvement to have the values of the pulldowns filled in with the values the user selected, this way when he presses the "Back" button he would not have to restart the whole search process again.
way to clear textboxes in VB.Net and what is the difference between the two methods? I have also seen people be critical of folk using clear objects on their forms and i can see why but in this case, i am only learning.
We have a server application and a client application that communicates with each other using socket.
When the server application sends 2 messages about 16-31 ms apart, the 1st message is received by the client application with little delay (like 16-32 ms after it was sent). But the 2nd message is received by the client application a lot later (like 200 ms later) than when it was sent.
We already disabled Nagle algorithm (set NoDelay = True) in the socket in both the server and client application.
We are having problems with sending back to back emails on one of our web sites. The site is built with .net framework 2.0.We can send the first email without any problems on every try. But to send a second email you need to wait about 20-30 minutes.the problem. One thing we tried was changing the smtp email server. We tried a third party smtp server but the same problem persisted. So I think the problem is not with the smtp server but with our .net code.
Is there anything like STL in Visual Basic , e.g a binary tree , quick sort Do I have to implement those algorithms myself , does Microsoft provide any useful interface ?
I've been looking for some programming languages, and I've read about the basics of Python and C++, but I'm more interested in Visual Basic But! Everywhere I look, I only find tutorials about how to use MS's Visual Basic Express and stuff, not how to code, not tutorials about the code syntax, how to declare variables and these essential things.Does anyone here has a good tip about learning the basics of VB? And not how to use VB Express/Full edition I can insert a new button but I have no idea on how to make it work, what's the point of it?
EDIT: Oh and another thing.I was playing around VB, creating a simple user interface with buttons, and I've noticed that the code doesn't change when I update the button's or other objects' Name property in the Designer window... shouldn't the code update itself with the new objects names?
i have a hashtables working with a simple dictionary, my problem is i put the stuff into the hashtables but i cant extract the key... i need the key so i can remove stuff from it using the code..
I am creating an application that will be faced with multiple decisions to make and I want to know if it is possible to create around 20 if statements to excute or decide between before excuting?
The application will encounter multiple websites but each website will have the same elements but not neccessary in the same order so I was going to tell the app to loop through the IF statement and if the condition is met to run that sub routine where it starts over and loops through the IF statements until next condition is met.
Is this possible in VB.NET or is 20 or so IF statements to many to use at once?[code]...
I have a dBase file named PROBA, with two cells: "VNEV", "KNEV".I would like to see the records back-to-back in a Msgbox.
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.Odbc Public Class FormCount1 Public Sub Recordszm() Handles MyBase.Load 'TODO: This line of code loads data into the 'DataSet1.PROBA' table. You can move, or remove it, as needed.
