DB/Reporting :: Database Can Only Add Stuff, Not Replace Or Clear?

I'm quite new to databases so this might be a very basic question: How does one replace a table in a local MS Access database with a new dataset?
I'm able to read the contents from the database into the dataset DatabaseDataset, change it so it looks perfect, but when I update the Access database, it only adds the dataset instead of replacing the existing contents. I tried to clear the contents of the database, but that doesn't work either.

In a TabControl (with ownerDrawFixed) I used e.Graphics.DrawString in ItemDraw for drawing a string (the title of an webBrowser), but when it's changing, it's add a new string, it don't change the allready one, so... Is there an option to clear all stuff drew on the Tab? (Just wan't the command, e.Graphics.Command)Note: Clear did just change the background color

So Im making a program with 2 different data tables where different columns from those tables are used in different tabs in the same form. This all works good and well so far, but I have one issue which just drives me mad, and a couple minor ones.
1. I have an ID column in each data table marked as Primary Key, Unique and Identity. Problem is that even if I choose to hide this column it just randomly decides if it actually is visible or not. Most often its visible. I dont get it, doesnt this function work? Do I use it wrong? Im not using any code for this, just right click on the data grid, press Edit Columns... And change the Visible to False. It works for all other columns all the time as far as I can tell, but for my ID column its just random.
2. Im wondering if its possible to align the text in some of the columns of my data table to the right, note I only want some of them, not all of them.
3. Is it possible to do maths with the values from the columns in a table on the same row? Like for example having column 3 = column1 + column2?

I seem to have a major problem. when I add a typed dataset to my project and go back to my sql server and click on the databse I use it doesn't open. the tables and stuff just vanish. using the wizard, it creates this connectionstring:

It connects fine. but after I try opening it in sql server i get an error. It doesnt let me restore or anything. i tried restarting my pc incase the db was locked but it is still gone. now my app cant connect. Just for clarity, is user instance supposed to be set to true. and what is the purpose of it. also when the wizard asks to make a copy of the file that will be copied accross each time I run my project I select No.

I have finally got my code all working, but there is just a quick query really. At the moment I have all the database stuff in each form seperatly. When I place it in a global module, it looks like the dataset is being duplicated I was wondering why this happens when I place it in a global module?

i'm trying to come up with some code that can clear a database.
I've tried to loop the "delete" code that i have, tought each row in that database, but i get error at last row saying somethink like "row do not exist" and when i got back and look, there is still one record left in the database. Here is the code i used.

We are writing a program that pulls a Teacher from a database, then you select the "period" 1 - 7. What is happening is if we pick period 1 on teacher john doe. Then when you pick another teacher it doesn't clear the period that we selected before. How do we clear this information every time we select a different teacher?

I want to move my programs and the database to another computer and hard-disks. It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?

I am trying to copy a table from a network database to a local database. I used DAO and could check if the network table existed using a function that tried to assign a TableDef object to the table in question. If there was no error then I assumed that the table existed and the function returned true...Or it would error out and return false.I could then proceed with the copy or not as the case may be.I am converting the code to ADO.net and need to know how to check for a table. Recently working in vb 2010 express. I'm using service-based database which is based on SQL Server. This database will be deployed at the server. Is it possible that multiple vb.net programs, which are installed in remote computers or client computers in the same network, connect to this database simultaneously? Does the service-based database support multiple connections?

When .Clear() is invoked, is the memory freed up that was allocated when all of the items were added? I need to load several lists of codes from a database depending on the import selected by the user. Each list of codes will be a List(Of String). My idea is that I will load only small strings into a List(Of String) along with a List(Of <class>) for the data I will be validating and manipulating. When I am done, I want all of the data from the Lists to be purged from memory. Will .Clear() take care of that or does the memory still remain allocated and have to be dumped by the OS once memory gets full? (And, incidentally, what causes the OS to decide which memory blocks to dump? FIFO concept?)
There are so many lists, I'm not sure if I just want them sitting in memory or not. Granted, the lists will just consist of a single string value for each code pulled from the database. So there won't be a ton of data, so maybe I could just load all the validation lists at the beginning of runtime and only worry about purging the data List since it will contain between 35-50 "fields" per record and there will be a couple thousand records each import that is run. I don't want my program to actually cause a hit in performance in the long run. I ultimately don't see a problem because I won't be running millions or even hundreds of thousands of records at once, but I just want to be sure.

I don't actually know if I can use any XML file as a database that I can edit and make some changes to it using vb.net 2008 and save them. Because I'm working aboard a war ship and we have a central automatic system to control all the internal communication using standard telephones. to reprogram the extinctions we used to have a MS DOS program and it's so old and now it's totally lost and not found and after a long searching I have found a file that could maintain the extensions and reprogram the system but it's an XML file.
