2. then am suppose to type "me" in text box 2---and
3. click the find button and it suppose to find the text in textbox1

5. click the replace button and it replaces "me" with "us"

Dec 19, 2008I've been looking through the FCL for a method that will allow me to erase a line of text from a text file and replace it with another line of text. Neither the StreamReader nor StreamWriter have a method for replacing or removing Text from a text file, as does the string object. Are there any available methods for erasing just certain lines of text from a file, and then replacing them with others?
In my code, I'd like to locate a certain line in the text file, and then at that point in the text file, use a For...Next Loop to replace each successive line of the text file with new text:

edit_input = New StreamReader(user_data_file)
Dim edit_line As String = edit_input.ReadLine

May 29, 2010I'm quite new to databases so this might be a very basic question: How does one replace a table in a local MS Access database with a new dataset?
I'm able to read the contents from the database into the dataset DatabaseDataset, change it so it looks perfect, but when I update the Access database, it only adds the dataset instead of replacing the existing contents. I tried to clear the contents of the database, but that doesn't work either.

Dataset.clear Method - What Does It Actually Means
May 13, 2009I think I've misused this method and would like to know what it actually does.I 've looked it up on msdn forum and found this

What does it mean by removing all the rows in all tables? Is it the datagridview table? When it says "removing", does it mean that it deletes everything?
The reason I misused it is because I thought dataset.clear means it flushes the record held in dataset.
When I click on the add new icon on bindingnavigator, a new form will appear, which allows me to insert data

when I close the insert form, the parent form will be activated and datagridview will display the new record I just inserted. I thought the dataset.clear method helped display the new added record but then I realised I could do without the dataset.clear method.

I know I can use the old way, but I'd like to use the new Replace method. I just need a choice of comparing case or not?

How To Clear Drawn Text Before Drawing A New Text
Dec 1, 2010I'm looking to see if a little more control is possible though. cpustring = string and fontstring = font, both defined earlier in the program.I'm not sure how to clear the drawn text before drawing a new text. I tried with g.clear(color.transparent), but that creates an ugly flickering background for the picturebox (the picturebox is already set to transparent background).I'd also like to be able to fit the text in the picturebox area, max width/height as defined by picturebox, not by fontsize. Font can stretch either way as long as it fills in the picturebox.

So far this is what I've come up with:

Oct 12, 2011I am trying to do some extra credit stuff for school and was curious if there is a way to clear a text box after you would click ok in a MessageBox that pops up after an exception and/or an error. I have used a try/catch and would like the text the user entered text to disappear after they click OK in the message box that pops up.
