I have a long string that I need to parse into an array of strings that do not exceed 40 characters in length. The tricky part of this for me is making sure that the regex finds the last whitespace before 40 characters to make a clean break between strings since I don't want words cut off.

Is there any way of using regular expressions (regex), substr or something similar to produce this output?

I must input a letter and a number in a text box.. say "A14", and them I want to cut the string into "A" and "14" and then use these, but I do not know how to code this as the next string could be "A1" or "C110" and these change... could I make an if for each one? like an if for when its 2 characters and just cut it in half and then an if when its 3 characters and cut between the 1st and second and so on?

If using the following in an if statement I get an error: If trg.Name.Substring(4, 6).ToUpper <> ("ABCDEF") Then I get the error: "Index and length must refer to a location within the string. Parameter name: length"
I assume this is because the string (trg.name) is too small for the 4, 6 substring. What would be the correct method of working around this problem? VB.net Studio 2008.

I have a field that I display via: String.Format({0:c},amount) This produces the string "$28.28" However, when I try to convert back to a decimal amount, I get an incorrect format exception: amount = Decimal.Parse(amount.Text, NumberStyles.Currency) I also tried it with NumberStyles.AllowCurrencySymbol with the same results. I verified that the value in amount.Text is "$28.28". Am I missing something? Shouldn't these two operations use the same currency symbol and formats?

I have written a program that uses an array of the english alphabet and Morse code. I also built a form with a input box for the alphabetic information and an output box with the Morse Code. What i am trying to do is basically type a word like "Hi" in the input box and produce the Morse Code equivalent in the Morse Code output box. [Code] This works but only one letter at a time. Do i need to Parse the string of characters one at a time, and then run it through a loop like i have created?

They can't edit the code on the MF to give me a delimited file, so I'm stuck dealing with it as fixed width. It's working okay now, but I need to get it more stable before I release it for testing. My problem is that in any given line of data, say it could have three columns of numbers, each five chars wide at positions 10, 16, and 22. If on this one particular row, there's no data for the last two cols, it won't be padded with spaces; rather, the length of the string will be only 14. So, I can't just blindly have

im working with a receipt layout and trying to divide up a products descriptiontext into 2 lines if its longer then 24 characters.my first solution was something like this:

Basically what I'm trying to achieve is to extract all the words within a piece of string and transfer that from one text box to another text box.
An example piece of the string would be

However the words within the string will never remain constant and the characters before and after will change. Is there anything that will read the string and take a word from the string without it being pre-programmed. The string it is reading from is uploaded from a text file.
