i'm using VB Net 2008 and MS Access as my database.Its like this, form1 display the details for the TV Show and a button1 that loads form2 which contains the episode for that TV Show.I have 2 tables, both have the same field Movie_ID. able1 contains the details for all the TV Show, Movie_ID set as Primary key and table2 which contain the all the episode but categorize by Movie_ID.

I've changed this to use the Command's Parameters.AddWithValue method and all worked well. I'm now in the process of separating the data access code out into it's own class. I've got the Select code working using a DataSet in the form that I pass ByRef to my data class so it can populate or refresh it. My sticking point is in how to pass the parameters for the Insert/Update commands to the class since from the form I no longer have access to a Command object. Do I need to make the Command object in the data access class available to the form?

We are using VB 2005(Visual Basic.net) with SQL server as database and MS Access for the Reports. Right now we are passing the footer label from our VB app to MS Access for a selected report. If the user closes that report(not closing access) and opens another report the footer label is not being displayed. Is there any way I could send the footer label to all the reports in Access as soon as I open the database.Right now in below code we are sending the footer label just for the report selected. Is there a way to send the footer label to all the reports that are existing in the Access database.

I have written a class library that creates a dll to pass data back and forth within the same compiled instance exe. Is it possble to configure this Class Library in order to pass the data produced in the first instance of an .exe to other instances exe programs written in VB.NET?

This was done so by running a query through it and populating it with PUZ_ID values from a data set.On form two there is a tool strip and below is a search query.I need to be able to select the value i want in the combo box on form 1, and launch a button that opens form 2, which has loaded the data that i binded onto the form.Anyone have any ideas/code or need me to clear this up a bit more?So i need to run something through a query, or make something public or what?

I would like to have custom methods to pass data between function, or to keep it in memory throughout the program.
Example:

Could I run this function towards the beginning of the program and use it throughout until the form is disposed? I can't seem to get the information to stick once I get out of the function, I will need to use the same information multiple times throughout the application so I figured if I could make a function to keep the info rather than declaring the 5 lines in every option but anytime I call the method, it fills it correctly then when I get back to the main function the info goes back to 'nothing'. is it possible to pass data around between functions like you could in Java?

View 9 RepliesI am using VB 2010 express and am trying to make a program for a project that generates lottery numbers in a specific way. What I have is two forms. Form one has two text boxes and a button. Form two has a checkedlistbox that is pre-populated with numbers from 1-56. What I am trying to do is have the program open to form1, the user presses button1 ("Select Numbers") which opens form2. From there they will select numbers they want to pick from (narrowing their pool of lotto picks to only numbers they want to use). Then when they hit select, I want the numbers they have checked to return back to the textbox1 on form1. HOWEVER, I also only want 5 numbers, randomly selected, from the pool of checked numbers the user selected on form2 to return to the textbox1 on form1..... I may be in wayyy over my head, but I have all of the forms designed and I have been close to getting the forms to at least communicate, but still far from doing what I have described I am trying to do.

To run this you'll need a combo box, and an excel spreadsheet added to your desktop. Of course you'll need to change the path to the spreadsheet to whatever you choose. After doing so, I get an error that I don't really understand.

I have a form that has a button, when clicked it pops up a Dialog Form. Within this dialog form the user needs to select some data and when the user is finished they click the OK button. Once they click the OK button it needs to return an integer back to the previous form.I created a Dialog Form and tried calling it via the code below:

I have returned to a project I started a while ago. I have a small members database showing basic info (Title, Forename and Surname) in a data grid view with all data populated from a SQL database. I have the dataset populated with all this info as well as other data through the use of relationships/foreign keys (Addresses and Telephone Numbers, etc)I have tested the relationships using a simple form which shows the correct addresses, telephones, etc for each user as you navigate through it.
I now wish to show just the datagridview on form 1 which is read only with the row select set to full row (I have done all this so far). I have also set up a second form which displayes just the relationship data.I want to be able to load the second form (with the address and telephone number data, etc) when the row is double clicked by the user. ie - if row 15 is double clicked on, then the second form should load the address and telephone number data for record 15.
