I have 2 databases that I am working with. One is a compant customer database and the other is my personal call log. Now I am creating a front end for the Call Log. I was updating my customer list by Importing 2 tables from the customer database, a series of queries would erase all of my info, take all the data from the imported tables and move it into mine then erase the imported tables.
Im trying to accomplish the same in my VB frontend. I can connect and fill datasets from the customer database. I can erase my tables. How do I take all of this data from the newly created dataset and move it over to my empty tables?

I am a total beginner to Visual Basic and have a project to conduct a survey for my company. The Answers of the users need to be populated to the database. So far, all I've managed to do is to define a string which will have the answer to be updated into the access table. How am I supposed to pass the value?
View 2 RepliesI am trying to insert a variable in Decimal type into an Access table. When I use "decimal" field with 0 digits after the decimal separator (,) my program works properly. However, when i use the field with 2 digits after the separator I get a "Data type mismatch in criteria expression." exception. This happens also when I try to update the table. The debugger shows me that my variables contain the right values but the update or insert command gives the error.

I have an input box that allows users to enter a date that when the user clicks "Ok" that it does two things, marks a field called "code" in my Exceptions SQL table as H and passes whatever date they have entered to that table as well.
View 1 RepliesI have got problem when using the SQLCommandBuilder class. For me it throws an error saying that the select statement does not return any primary columns.... Which is weird becouse i am sure it does since the select statement is "SELECT * FROM MyTable" I am prety sure that selects everything including the primary column which is set to primary , realy i checked and doublechecked.
Secondly i tried to manually set the column(0) as primary by setting it's property bu no such luck of making it work.

This Functtion fills the dataset and returns it to my main program where i do lovely stuff with it. (Just as a side note this is a SCADA system and i always need the entire DB which is never bigger then just a few ( 6 ) entries so i must go for "*" ^^). Good part is, this works like a charm, i love it. Now i need to reset a few status bits etc and i assume with the update command. And that is where my joy starts to get stomped on a bit.... The code:

Now this would have been a great and small sollution to updating datasets with the server but obviously it doesn't work. There is that pesky error about my table having no primary key and I know it's lying it just want to annoy me :P. But seriously I am puzzeld why that error wont go away and i have exhausted all the tutorials i can find on this.

It looks to me as though I nearly have to re-create the controls and rewrite some of the code to make it so the programs still work after the move. At least with ODBC all I would change was the DSN definitions external to the programs. Is there an easy way to move or rename a database without loads of work?

Well here I am again, could really use some expert eyes on this. I've got an update statement for access 2007 and when I run it it's giving me a "No value given for one or more required parameters." error. I've spent at least 2 hours on this now and searched all over the place and none of the suggestions I found are fixing it. I've got an insert statement to the same table that works fine, I took this same syntax for the update statement from another project where it was working perfectly. I've verified the spelling of the table and column names, As best as I can tell there are no reserved keywords being used and I've eliminated any spacing from the names. I've even tried updating a single row with no variables, just like for like data directly from the table and it still throws the error.

I have an Access XP database with two linked tables and a maketable query. I need to first run the Query through VB 2005 and then get the data from the resulting table created. But I get an error when I run the query as follows. I am getting the SQL Select statement from the SQL view in MS access after I create my Maketable query So it should be ok. I'm writing an asp.net page with a simple registration form that connects to my access database and inserts the values in the table. So I have my database, my registration page, everything looks fine in my code, but there's a syntax error I can't seem to figure out. When I go on my webpage and click submit, it says : Syntax error in INSERT INTO instruction.

In many of my forms I'm gonna use DataGridViews to show data from the database, not an entire table but data based on manually built queries. So, I have few questions without answers, by now. If I convert my Access Database to a MS SQL Database then can I

Upgrade Property - I need to use the Update Query for this. A PropertyName is selected from a list box and someone then clicks to upgrade a property.
Properties.HousesOwned should have it's value raised by 1 Where the player owns all 3 sets. The Houseprice should then be took off the Players Money.
Downgrade Property - I need to use the Update Query for this. A PropertyName is selected from a list box and someone then clicks to downgrade a property.
Properties.HousesOwned should have it's value lowered by 1 (until it gets to 0) Where the player owns all 3 sets. The Houseprice should then be added to the Players Money.
I'm trying to update an MS Access database, but that doesn't seem to work. I do NOT get an error, but nothing changes in the database.

I'm new to Visual Basic. I came across a random number generator tutorial. Got it working fine and then I thought, Is there a way to get it to access a database Here's the thing
1. Generate the random number.
2. looks at the database and finds the corresponding id number.
3. Takes the field for that number and enters it into a text field in the program.
So for example the number generated is 32. Then the program looks at the database and looks for id number 32. then takes the text in line 32 and enters it into a textbox in the program.Now I have my database and the program. But just can't seam to figure out how to get the two connected like I want. I have looked and searched but have found nothing like it I am using Visual Basic 2010 and Access 2007.
