Program For A Teacher That Automatically Determines Random Students He Can Call On?
Dec 10, 2010
I was trying to make a program for a teacher that automatically determines random students that he or she can call on.I'm trying to make a program that will allow the user to add student names to a listbox. Then, when a button is pressed the program will output a random name from the list. I keep getting a lot of errors and can't seem to figure out why. Finally, I need an exit button that should close the program. I need to assign access keys, have a proper tab order, and assign default and cancel buttons for the form. Also, if you know how to implement any extra 'bells and whistles' into the program,I've tried making this program but it comes up with either a lot of errors, or it just doesn't want to debug. Was wondering if I could either get some help with the coding or the "how-to" on doing this.
I wish to make a project where a teacher views a list box with a list of students of a class. When he selects a name from the first list box the second listbox would change its data to show the grades for that one student.
i want to know how i can make a random seating arrangement for 20 students in a class in which no student has the same seat number in vb.net.[code]i am having trouble with this part:Get the value for the set number at that location - that is where the student will sit.Remove the element from the list, using List.RemoveAt/Repeat while there are elements in the list.
I need to create a program that connects to a database and determines if what the user entered is in the database. Trying to do this in somewhat the same way that a translator might workchecking to find the word, and if found replace it with what is in the row beside it in the database)
Anyone have any idea on how i should go about doing this?
I know its gonna involve looping but as to how i am completely lost
I am developing a program that will manage students details. I have bound the program to an access database but i want the program to be able to retrieve a students first name and address when i enter the students first name in a text box and clicking a button.
I tried this code below but it didnt work.
Private Sub btnGetData_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnGetData.Click
im wanting to add a new feature but am unable to even get started. I'm in a windows form in visual basic .net and basically, I have a combobox with 3 items in the drop down menu. I would like to make it to where the moment one of the items in the combo box are selected, the program recognizes the change of index and automatically calls to the function of my choice.
just had a walkthrough in class and the example code our teacher gave us does not return a value. I am having alot of trouble with my current assignment because I do not see whats wrong with it. It is supposed to take two numbers entered by the user and add them together for a total with a tax rate, but it continues to return all 0's heres what the code looks like:
Public Class Form1 Private Sub BtnCalc_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, _ ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles BtnCalc.Click
I have a function called DieRoll. In the function I have the following setup.
Dim objRandom as New Random Dim intRoll as Integer intRoll = objRandom.Next(1,7) Return intRoll
Everything works as expected as far as generating a random number (1 - 6) is concerned, except for one problem. If I have a series of calls to the function one after another, the numbers come up the same. Is there a way to make sure that each call to the function is much more random?
I am making a basic form that has 1 button and a rich text box.I need to click on the button and have it call a random line from 3 text documents (so 3 lines total) and place them in the rich text box, each on a different line.
"Quick example"
3 Text files Firstname.txt Lastname.txt Number.txt
Click on button named generate and in the text box below it places
Suddenly whenever I build my applications, although I get a "build succeeded" result - the executables are either not updated or updated in the "wrong" place. So for example if after succesfully building I press <F8> to step through the code I get a message saying the "source is different from when the module was built"I have no idea how to begin tracking this down - how .net determines the placement of files and so forth.
i made a program in which you put in a number like 10, and there are 10 cards. If you put in a number like 23, here is a possible output -
Card #1 - 3 Card #2 - 20 the rest 0
etc, where all the cards values adds up to the number you submit (the values displayed will be random)
The thing is, when i do a number below 10,000, it will come up as one card equaling that number and the rest equaling zero. If i do it a number 10,000 or larger, it will split it like it is supposed to.
[Code]...
interestingly, if you put in a break point, it works like it is supposed to!
What is going on? And why does it matter the size of the number for it to matter?
I'm having some issues with the suppression of the typical javascript and other scripting errors that show in the webbrowser.I have three webbrowsers. The third webbrowser goes out and determines some action based upon location. The one thing I'm having trouble with is this example. It states that it should work but the errors keep on coming.I attached some of the code below. Am I doing something wrong?
The company has a Visual Studio 2010 Ultimate project that is written in Visual Basic. The project has several strings in the resources file (Resources.resx). One of those strings (VersionSuffix) contains "" when we are distributing a normal version of our product and "BETA" when we are distributing a beta version of our product. Most of the time we distribute a normal version of our product. Therefore, most of the time the resource string VersionSuffix contains "".
Recently, we attempted to distribute a beta version of our product. Therefore, we changed resource string VersionSuffix from "" to "BETA". However, it quickly became apparent that the resource string VersionSuffix was being used as the default value for several control properties in the form designer. For example, if I draw a rich textbox on a form then file FORMNAME.Designer.vb will contain the following.
Me.RichTextBox1.Location = New System.Drawing.Point(286, 306)
Me.RichTextBox1.Name = "RichTextBox1"
Me.RichTextBox1.Size = New System.Drawing.Size(134, 33)
We are unable to find anything anywhere that indicates that this resource string should be used as the default value for control properties. Therefore, we have no idea why this resource string is being used for this purpose. We would like to change the control property assignments in the designer from Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix
Me.RichTextBox1.Text = "" However, we don't know why these strange assignments are being made. Therefore, as soon as someone adds another control the problem will most likely return. Does anyone know why this is happening and how to prevent it from happening again?
I am making a program which generates a random number between 1 and 10 and when 7 appears it is suppose to tell you how many tries it took to get the number 7 and then end the application. This is the code I have used:
CODE:
This code only generates the number 7 and exits the application, each time i click the random button but i want it to show the other number it randomizes too for example 1 2 3 4 .. etc, if u dont understand, please try it, but im trying to say, when i clikc random it just says number 7 (does randomizing in background) and tells you how much tries it took but i want it to show the other number it randomized also and when 7 appears, then exit the program
I would like to ask for a recommendation for my project. Basically, it's a scheduled program that shall run at a given period of time, for example, 6:00 pm daily, it includes importing an excel file and inserting it in a sql table. I have my codes with me, but I dont know how to execute this program automatically.
I am developing a VB.NET based application which requires administrative privileges in order to run properly. However I went through several tutorials online and it all mentioned how to do this using a mainifest file. The problem with this technique is that whenever the program is opened I need to type in the Administrator password, however I want this to happen automatically. (The user should not type the Admin password, the password must be entered from the code level)[code]...
For the assignment that I'm doing, there's certain skills I must demonstrate in my assignment. There are some standard ones, and some optional ones. The more optional ones I have, the better chance I have at achieving an A.Problem is, some of the things on the list are a bit wierd, and after Googling them, I still have no idea what they are. I will list them, if you could perhaps tell me what they are and how they work anInput Mask (Actually, I know what this is - when people input information, it's a method that inserts in the information in the correct frormat (eg. dd/mm/yyyy) but how do you do use this in Visual Basic?Use of procedures or modules
Optional Validation rule andappropriate validation text message Validating data input entry (eg data type, appropriate value, required)
Ok i cant seem to trace why this happens, i have a button which simply opens a folder (from a list of folders shown in a listbox) in windows, using this Dim folder12 As String = ListBox1.SelectedValueCall Shell("explorer.exe " & folder12, vbNormalFocus)The problem is it keeps working then failing, ive managed to trace it down to the size of the folder thats making it fail, it works fine if the selected folders size is sub 300mb, but anything above and it fails ad opens the 'my documents' folder instead.
I want to set resolution automatically when my program will run. I want to make it (resolution) 1280*1024. What should I write there in my vb.net program to set resolution when my program will run? When user will stop using my program it will get default resolution.
I need to be able to have my program run once a week or daily automatically and not on startup since my workstation is on sometimes and sometimes logged off.
I´m trying to update my Students table record using LINQ to SQL. The problem is when one of the Properties of the object changed and 'PropertyChanging' Event is fired using 'SendPropertyChanging()' method.
student_id is a PK data types are matched
Here is the full ArgumentException:
GenericArguments[2], 'System.String', on 'System.Data.Linq.Mapping.PropertyAccessor+Accessor`3[T,V,V2]' violates the constraint of type 'V2'.
I want to build an application that checks every second for certain windows and then react according to that.
My Goal:I'm building the application for a pc in a Students Home with about 10 users. To create 10 different user accounts for windows will be annoying and crowded, because new people come in every year(or couple of months) and then old accounts have to be deleted and new ones created.
I want to build an application that accepts folderPaths or window names.Lets say user1 creates a folder with the name "Susan" that she wants to protect (her personal files/picture/work will be stored there. She opens the application, selects the folder. The application saves the folder path and her password that she enters.
If the application detects that a user is trying to open/move/delete/copy/whatever that folder, the app must pop up a password box. Correct password gives her the freedom she wants, wrong password just ignores the open/move/delete/copy/whatever command.
I'm working on the VB.NET VS 2010. We are creating a software distribution list. Currently a user needs to go to the Add New Programs wizard to view their available programs and then click install. We'd like to automate the clicking of the "Add" button to and kickoff the installation via a script.
I have a web browser on my form and it is definitely big enough to warrant a tab control, with the web browser being on the second tab. I have a button on the first tab that should have the browser navigate, but how do I make the program automatically switch to tab 2? i.e., this is what happens:
1 - user is on tab 1,
2 - user clicks a button on tab 1,
3 - the program does what it needs to do and automatically switches to tab 2
For instance, here is the button that will be clicked:
Private Sub swap_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles swap.Click If video = False Then
[Code].....
So the button will make the web browser go somewhere, I just want to have the form switch to the other tab automatically so that the user doesn't have to do it. I tried using webbrowser1.focus() to no avail. Is there a tab switch?
i am trying to make my own user authentication system after i log on with the windows authentication. I want the program to automatically start on startup and i want to enable:
NoDeletePrinter : Disables printer deletion NoAddPrinter : Disables printer adding NoRun : Removes run from the start menu NoSetFolders : Removes folders from the Settings option on Start Menu NoSetTaskbar : Removes taskbar settings
[Code]..
Because i dont want someone else to just delete or tamper with the files that my program made to authenticate me. After i enter my credentials in my program and they are correct i want to disable these. I am using Visual Basic 2010 Express and my computer is Windows 7 64 Bit Home Premium.
