Within my project I have created an Entity Data Model, complete with relationship links between the various tables. I notice when I do so, Visual Studio automatically creates a property named after this link.
I have then generated a Domain Service Class based on this data model, and once again within this a property is generated representing the link, ie within my ChemicalApplication class there is a Chemical property of type Chemical.
The trouble is, within the silverlight client, I can access the ChemicalApplication data object no bother, and can see the ChemicalApplication.Chemical property, but as soon as I try to access it, I recieve an error that the property is not initialised.
Do these auto-generated child properties not automatically initialise? If not, how do i manually assign a value to them within the RIA Domain Service?
Using Visual Studio .NET 2008 or 2005, is there a way to automatically generate properties for each column in an SQL Server database table? I am assuming other code-generation software exists that will do this. I know with Visio I can connect to my database and it will generate diagrams by table, this would be similar to that.
View 6 RepliesI've got a groupbox on my form. I changed its font and fore color. The problem is that when I add a button or any other controls like a label, checkbox etc to the groupbox, the controls are automatically changing their fore color and font to that of the groupbox. How to prevent this?
View 5 RepliesNeed to get this done: To have just ONE cell that is defined in a dropdown list with several (various) countries� currencies, and each time when I choose a currency on this dropdown, EVERY cell in my worksheet which has a figure formatted with CURRENCY will automatically turn into that currency selected only in that dropdown cell. I have imagined whether if there was a solution, that the monetary cells do not necessarily have to be first in CURRENCY format, or do they have to? Anyway, I do nt know how to accomplish this, Without the solution, I have still at this time just set all the cells with monetary amounts in simple NUMBER format, ie. no CURRENCY SYMBOL at all, till I find a solution ..

One of those strings (VersionSuffix) contains "" when we are distributing a normal version of our product and "BETA" when we are distributing a beta version of our product. Most of the time we distribute a normal version of our product. Therefore, most of the time the resource string VersionSuffix contains "".
Recently, we attempted to distribute a beta version of our product. Therefore, we changed resource string VersionSuffix from "" to "BETA". However, it quickly became apparent that the resource string VersionSuffix was being used as the default value for several control properties in the form designer. For example, if I draw a rich textbox on a form then file FORMNAME.Designer.vb will contain the following.

We are unable to find anything anywhere that indicates that this resource string should be used as the default value for control properties. Therefore, we have no idea why this resource string is being used for this purpose. We would like to change the control property assignments in the designer from Me.RichTextBox1.Text = Global.PROJECTNAME.My.Resources.Resources.VersionSuffix

I am developing a VB.NET based application which requires administrative privileges in order to run properly. However I went through several tutorials online and it all mentioned how to do this using a mainifest file. View 1 RepliesI have a web browser on my form and it is definitely big enough to warrant a tab control, with the web browser being on the second tab. I have a button on the first tab that should have the browser navigate, but how do I make the program automatically switch to tab 2? i.e., this is what happens:
1 - user is on tab 1,
2 - user clicks a button on tab 1,
3 - the program does what it needs to do and automatically switches to tab 2
For instance, here is the button that will be clicked:

So the button will make the web browser go somewhere, I just want to have the form switch to the other tab automatically so that the user doesn't have to do it. I tried using webbrowser1.focus() to no avail. Is there a tab switch?

I've heard that I shouldn't make it a windows service (and would personally rather have a dialog app so I can see progress, etc) so I'm trying to use task scheduler. I have multilingual application that was done in VB2005.We recently had a request to translate the application to Arabic (Egypt), so I have been happily running through all of the forms and changing the layout for Right to Left format.I have 2 forms that are problematic though.On one form, whenever I select Arabic (Egypt), it will automatically switch the selection to Arabic (Saudi Arabia) and try to add an ar-SA resx file.On the other problematic form, if I choose Arabic (Egypt), the IDE will automatically select Chinese (People's Republic of China), then copy the contents of my ar-EG resx file into the zh-CN file, overwriting all of our Chinese translations and layout changes with the Arabic ones.

How can I click this hyper link in vb.net automatically without me clicking on it with the mouse, and how do I open the window in a second web browser ?
We can assume that the first browser is called (WebBroswer1 ) and the second one is called (WebBrower2).
I know how to perform buttons clicks and do raise the 'OnClick' Events, but I don't know how to do it with a hyper links.

One way of doing it that I can think of is to scan through the available port and do a write and read to identified the port. But that would take up a lot of time if I were to scan through say 5 available port.

I am trying to develop a program that will allow a user to automatically log into a website with a username and password and click login, which works fine, However after clicking login i am trying to have the pragram click another button to submit a file. This is where the program bombs. This secondclick will work in a separate event but not in the same event as the login.
View 9 RepliesI was trying to make a program for a teacher that automatically determines random students that he or she can call on.I'm trying to make a program that will allow the user to add student names to a listbox. Then, when a button is pressed the program will output a random name from the list. I keep getting a lot of errors and can't seem to figure out why. Finally, I need an exit button that should close the program. I need to assign access keys, have a proper tab order, and assign default and cancel buttons for the form. Also, if you know how to implement any extra 'bells and whistles' into the program,I've tried making this program but it comes up with either a lot of errors, or it just doesn't want to debug. Was wondering if I could either get some help with the coding or the "how-to" on doing this.
