View 1 Repliesi am using vb.net i just wanna ask if we can place a picture in a picture box in different places... for example, we place a picture in the center of a picture box then we place another picture on the left side of the picture box. is it possible?? and also can we use one picture box that can contain more pictures or images on it??? to make it clear, it is a drag and drop senario, first you have to drag a picture from a toolbar for example, then you are to drop it on the picutre box, the problem is, we have to drop more than one picture in the picturebox, so is it really possible?

How can I programmatically reset my form background from a picture to a solid color. I have no trouble changing it to a picture or even changing it to another picture, but when I try to change it back to a solid color, it won't work.

How do I reset it back to a color? It's stuck in a picture mode.
Like I imagine everyone, I often have problems navigating my code because the flow can jump from place to place. For example, if my code calls routine1, and I then want to go to routine1's code, I know that I can click in the dropdown menu and it will take me to that sub. But wouldn't it be easier if I could somehow right click on the call to routine way and select something like 'take me there' which would transport me from the function making the call to the code for the function being called? Then it would be easy to hop from place to place.

If the Group Name exists for the Current User, I want that group name to be displayed in a drop down list. I am learning Visual Basic 2010 and I am working on a space combat program for my own education and amusement (a simulation of the Honorverse space combat system). I have a routine to add ships to the enemy ship roster and then place them randomly on the viewscreen. When I step through the sub with the debugger, it works fine, but when I run it without stopping, it wants to place all the objects in the same place on the screen. It's actually assigning 2 random numbers pertaining to the size of the viewscreen and assigning those numbers to GameObjectScreenLocation through GameObjectWorldLocation.X and GameObjectWorldLocation.Y. The objects are fully initialized to 0 in their constructor, FYI. Code is below:

View 8 RepliesI have VS 2008 and use VB, not C#/C++ or whatever else. I'm trying to make a battleship game, and I've decided to use the only method I can think of to control the grid. A 2D boolean array for position marking. I have the array set up, and the grid set up in the design form, but I can't figure out with all my research how to link them together. I'm writing this program to shake off the rust before school starts again, and for fun. I took VB in school last year, a half year class, so I have a foundation, now I'm self-educating myself above and beyond the class. I've searched for a way to use a picture box array to use the coordinates of the ship to .Visible=True the picture boxes. I've been working on this for 2 days straight with no results. I just need a little nudge in the right direction. The exception I've been getting with my latest concoction of code is NullReferenceException was Unhandled. I think its referring to the fact that I have no idea how to link the picture boxes into the array. Here's my code, and I'll comment where the exception is thrown:
