how to display picture using the Application.startup path? i want to locate the picture in my bin folder inside my debug folder as i selected the name of the candidate in the combo box.
View 2 RepliesIn my project, I am trying to store the collection of Hatch styles in an array list and display rectangles with each of these styles at different locations in a picture box. I used this same approach with built in colors using code suggested from frorum members and it worked great.
When I run the following code I get an 'invalid cast exception' error on HB = ((CType(HatchList(j), HatchBrush))). When doing colors the the same code, SB = New SolidBrush((CType(ColorList(i), Color))) works fine so I think there is a problem with the format of the conversion. I left the NEW out since I got an immediate error stating no accessable new accepts this many arguments.

I'm a Visual Basic beginner. I want to replicate an existing Mac application that I have with Visual Studio 2010. As you see below, this application (Mac version)'s form has a folder picture at the center. That's a drop box onto which the user can drag and drop a folder, and the application will get its path and write it to a database when the user clicks on Add. Now, according to Microsoft's web site, the PictureBox control has a property called AllowDrop, which is what I need, except that I don't see it as you see below. If PictureBox doesn't have AllowDrop, then what will be my next best alternative to accept a file/folder while displaying a picture?

Either a combibox, text boxes or pictureboxes are linked to a column form the database. The first row entries are all displayed correctly in the relavant boxes (except for the images, which for some reason aren't displayed). If another value in the comibox is selected, the other box values don't change and there is still no images visible...

A 2D boolean array for position marking. I have the array set up, and the grid set up in the design form, but I can't figure out with all my research how to link them together. I'm writing this program to shake off the rust before school starts again, and for fun. I took VB in school last year, a half year class, so I have a foundation, now I'm self-educating myself above and beyond the class. I've searched for a way to use a picture box array to use the coordinates of the ship to .Visible=True the picture boxes. I've been working on this for 2 days straight with no results. I just need a little nudge in the right direction. The exception I've been getting with my latest concoction of code is NullReferenceException was Unhandled. I think its referring to the fact that I have no idea how to link the picture boxes into the array. Here's my code, and I'll comment where the exception is thrown:

I sent the application exe to a user to test and they get an unhandled exception error and the details show my personal My Documents Folder/DEBUG path from the project. So I tried to use Application.ExecutablePath but when I release that it points to "My Documents" Folder (not the debug) folder. The file to open is in the same folder as the exe is in but for some reason the error occurs because the application is not looking for the file using the path where the EXE was launched from. Here is my code that relates to the section giving my users a problem:

we are having a problem in drag and drop some pictures, so here it is.have pictures put in the tool strip about 10 pictures, then we are to drag and drop it in our workspace made up of a one picture box. when we drag a picture on it, yes it appears, but when we drag another picture, the first picture dropped in the work space is overwritten by the second picture, meaning it was gone.
how can we drag multiple picture in that picture box?and also. can we place the picture anywhere in the picture box?i mean the default i think is on the upper left corner ...can the picture be placed anywhere?
