How to make a vb.net application that allows me to play online games using web proxies?
I tried

But that only works for httpwebrequests.
I'm trying to setup sort of a LAN keep-alive proxy...Ex.: My Xbox 360 is connected strait to my computer via an ethernet cable. My computer is connected to the internet via a Wi-Fi adapter. Everything works fine and I can access the internet on the Xbox and computer.
Issue: Every time I start my Xbox I have to set up a "Home or Small Office Network" via the control panel to access the internet. What I would like to do is implement a proxy that when I shutdown the Xbox the LAN doesn't give the "Network Cable Unplugged" notification. I wasn't sure if there was a way to make the connection stay open for so long after it should say unplugged. Such as if I need to restart the system and don't want to have to re-setup the network on the computer.

I'm making a application to use in college to retrieve my calendar and other things in VB.NET. But my college uses a proxy so when I connect my laptop I need to change the internet settings in my web browser to view web pages. how I would send requests via a proxy server in VB.NET? Or is there a piece of software that I can download which tunnels all connections or is there a setting in win7 does this?

One of them is a MySQL server, one will have a vb.NET program wich will act as a "second server" and the rest will be different clients. I have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.

I am writing some code as part of a framework for opening a file.The file is of custom type and should not be opened by more than one instance of my application. To stop multiple file opening I use a filestream to create a lock file and then keep said filestream open. This seems to work in preventing another instance of my application from opening the file ( as it will fail in recreating the lock stream in the files open code ) but if the file is on a network share and the network drops then the original application also can not access the file any more.The code to get the lock stream is as follows:

In this I create the lock stream the first time round and then if another application tries to create it, it throws an exception and stops them from getting any further. This is kind of how it needs to work, unfortunately as I said, if this is done across a network and then the network connection is dropped for some reason then I can not delete the lock stream as I get an IOException telling me a process cannot access the file as it is open in another process ( which shouldn't be happening I don't think).
I have a problem I want to make a server and client where the server is password protected and will make the client display files/folders in a designated folder which will be in the server's current directory and the client will ask what IP and password to connect to and if the password is correct is allows the client to access the files/folders in that folder in C.D. of the server and the client can download any file within the folder by clicking a button, yet don't even know where to start.

View 2 RepliesI am using webclient to get and send various information through my vb.net application.All of the code works fine, except that whenever the webclient is used, it seems to lock-up the application (as if its going to crash) but then recovers after it has recieved/send the required data.I have googled around, and apparently i need to set the proxy to null (which is fine because i dont use a proxy anyway) but i dont know how do do this.Could anyone tell me how to set the proxy to null please?

I'd like to get around that by using a proxy. Unfortunately not all anonymous proxies can be trusted for secure information like credit card information, so I only want to proxy the webbrowser control and not proxy any other non-application browsers.There is a site that explains quite well how to change the proxy (link not included, not certain on whether link posting allowed) but it changes the global settings on all browsers.I've tried to use 3rd party components (ex IPWorks HTTP control) however that doesn't work well with script-heavy sites that load and update dynamically - it only gets the empty skeleton of the page before being populated from the server DB.

I've got a vb program that sends an email using SmtpClient. I can't seem to get the message to pass the Proxy server (ccproxy). When sending thru outlook, I set the SMTP server to the Proxy server address, and in the username field I add a #and the SMTP server name following the username. I have tried several differt things here, but to no avail. Here is a sample of how I am trying to send this:

I have the first 3 finished and working but i haven't found anything useful pertaining to checking the proxies, the only one that i found took like 6 seconds per proxy so it took a lot of time for a decent sized list.
So how could i make it that on the press of that button, it checks all of the proxies in the listbox and it deletes the slow ones and the ones that flat out do not work. and does this at a decent pace(so it would probably be multi threaded)
and since i can not figure this out i have no code pertaining to this except for the sub for the button click i do not feel there is a need to post code

I'm using VB.net. I need to create an application that sits in between the browser and the actual internet. Basically, I'm creating an online game that will edit some webpages that are incoming so that they contain parts of the game (it's a kind of scavenger hunt). How would I create this?
Does anybody have any ideas for this? I've found nothing online. If you do know something about this, I prefer code examples and not just subjects. I tend to need big pushes in a direction to learn something new.
