Asp.net - DragDrop Event Not Firing On Object Inside Usercontrol (but DragEnter Does)

Feb 12, 2012

Well the title pretty well describes my problem. Here is a little bit more detailed description of my problem: I am building an application with a TabControl, which I populate at execution time with TabPages. In my first version of the code, these TabPages were filled with a children ListView. The ListView was also created in code, using AddHandlers to link it to the DragEnter and DragDrop routines. Everything worked very well... Now as I need some other controls on every TabPage, instead of creating every single control in code, I have created a UserControl containing a ListView and a few Buttons, which I instantiate for every new TabPage. The problem now is that the DragDrop event is not raised anymore

Use Raise Event To Raise A Programmatically Added Event

Jun 12, 2011

i guess the title pretty much states the question but i will give the senario to be more clear. i have a mousemove() event which i add in my program programmatically and i need a way for raising that event (again) programmatically too. raiseEvent control_mousemove() doesn't work as it says that "'control_MouseDown' is not an event of 'main'."

Raise Events From ClassLibrary / UserControl (ActiveX) To JavaScript?

I've created a VB.Net ClassLibrary with a UserControl in it. I can load it from an HTML page and call the methods that I created. This works as expected. I've tried several examples for how to raise an event from the VB code to the js caller, and none of them seem to work (I'm using IE7).

Handle Value Change Of Control Inside UserControl Inside FlowLayoutPanel?

Apr 30, 2012

I am making an invoicing application. I have a label (lblCost) inside of a UserControl (InvoiceEntry) inside of a FlowLayoutPanel (pnlEntries). InvoiceEntry represents a line item on the invoice, and pnlEntries is the "body" of the invoice. pnlEntries can hold several InvoiceEntry controls.

I am attempting to sum all of the lblCost values from each InvoiceEntry control to make a subtotal, and I want that subtotal to change automatically if costs are changed (e.g., a change in quantities being ordered). Is there a way to handle when the lblCost.Text property of any of the InvoiceEntry controls contained within pnlEntries changes?

Industrial App: Raise An Event For Something That Doesn't Have An Event?

Sep 15, 2010

I want to raise an event for an opto-input state change but not sure if I can. Basically I have 4 opto-inputs on a PCI control card - one of which changes pretty rapidly - that I currently poll with a timer. I'm looking at getting a proper hardware counter for that but the other 3 are production status indicators. I'd prefer it if they alerted the app to a state change though.

Depending on the state of one of the inputs I have to fire a relay which simulates a button push. Having been playing with serial ports and getting a very useful app built for logging production data into a SQL Server DB I want to re-visit a proof-of-concept system I built a few months ago.

Current code - which works fine - but I'd like to change is like this:

Private Sub tmrOptoInput_0_Tick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles tmrOptoInput_0.Tick
'Read OptoInput_1 to Monitor Track State...
Dim aType As Byte ' replace Byte with any other type

[code].....

Having 4 inputs so I need 4 timers, plus another one that polls the database and checks a status flag which triggers the app to start logging. I'd like it to be event driven rather than timer driven if at all possible but I don't know how and there's nothing in the control card docs. Also I can't seem to find anything relevant on the web.

UserControl MyBase.Paint - Works And Doesn't Work (Value Changed Via BackgroundWorker.ProgressChanged)

Mar 27, 2012

I have a UserControl that has a ProgressBar on it. The purpose of the UserControl is to be able to show the progress % on the ProgressBar as text. To do this it uses the MyBase.Paint event. To make it work the ProgressBar is made invisible and the UserControl is 'painted' with an image of the ProgressBar and then the text is painted on top. The UserControl has a Value property that is passed through to the ProgressBar.Value property.

I use this UserControl in two places, on a Splash form (not a standard Splash Screen) and also on the main form of the application. It works on the Splash form but not on the main form - by work I mean that changes to the ProgressBar.Value property cause the ProgressBar to show its progress. The cause appears to be that in the Splash form case the MyBase.Paint event is called as a consequence of calling Me.Refresh in the Set procedure of the UserControl.Value property, in the main form case it isn't,
i.e. Me.Refresh isn't causing MyBase.Paint to run.

The main form has two BackgroundWorker components. The first gets called (RunWorkerAsync) from Form_Load after the Splash form has been shown. The BackgroundWorker.ProgressChanged event updates the Value property of the UserControl and it works exactly as intended. The second gets called as a result of a user starting an operation and again the BackgroundWorker.ProgressChanged event updates the Value property of the UserControl but MyBase.Paint doesn't run so the ProgressBar remains resolutely static.

Any ideas why it won't respond to Me.Refresh in one case but does in the other? Happy to make any of the code avaialble but didn't want to fllod the first post with reams of it. Here's what I think are the most relevant code sections. First the UserControl

Raise Event After All Others Done?

Apr 8, 2010

Is it possible to run a sub routine on my form after all other sub routines have finished? I am having a problem using a filewatcher that watches a certain path and runs an SQL job if a certain file is pasted. For some reason my procedure leaves a file behind sometimes and others it does not. I was wondering can I use a form event to run a different procedure after all other sub routines on the form are completed that would check this directory for remaining files again?

Raise Event From A Sql Database?

Nov 29, 2010

I have an MDI parent form and 2 child forms. Each child form has data bound controls bound to the same sql table; one from is for displaying data and the other is for editing data. After the editing form closes, I need to update the data in the display form (if it is displayed). I can think of a few ways to do this, but I would like the display form to simply respond to an event raised by the database. Is it possible to create (and raise) an event in the database proper? If not what is the best/acceptable way to update data on a data bound form?

New() Runs Twice Inside A UserControl?

Apr 6, 2010

I am putting together a simple multiple column listbox. I call it Gridbox. The intent is to make a lightweight grid control mainly for displaying lists with columns. Minimal cell access i supported.

I wrote it with an IntegralWidth as well as an IntegralHeight.Of course I cannot support the Integral Width if there isn't at least one column in the Columns collection when the control is initialized.

To this end I call a Column Add() method in the UserControl New() Event.
So that one Column will be present when the control is placed on a form.

For some reason the New() UserControl Event is firing twice. So I end up with two columns not one.

I was under the impression that New() only fired once when the control was intialized. Where would

I put the code that creates the desired column if not there?
