Read DataReader Null Value In To Textbox?

What i want to do is to read a value either null or not null from my oracle database using DataReader and store in a textbox. But i have an error.InvalidOperationExcepionHow can i avoid this error.Or is it possible to catch the exception to ignore null values read by the datareader?If the option is to catch the exception how may i do it?

i have a form with one combobox and textbox now on other hand i have a sql database named balance with two column one as customername and and another as obbalance now i had binded all the customer name to the combobox now what i have to do is wen user selects a customername from the combobox the textbox should show the obbalance of the selected?

I have run into this problem a few times and have never come up with a good answer. I figure others must have dealt with this already.I have a datareader returned from the database and I want to use the values therein however values may or may not contain NULL. I would like to have a unction that takes in the value from the datareader and returns the value if it is not NULL and blank space if it is NULL.The problem I have is that the data-type of the variable I am testing is variable. It can be a String, and Integer or a DateTime. Can anyone suggest a simple way to test the value and then return the original value (as same data-type if possible) or something else if it is NULL

I am trying to check the value of a field before decided what to input into a drop down list in ASP.net.
I am using datareader.Read() in order to read the recordset so I can do this. However this then skips the first row of data . . The drop down box is basically a list of sizes and colours . . . So currently I am missing the first size.
Here is the code:

I have a datareader pulling data from Oracle. It all works fine but I have one issue. When I issue the read() command ala;
While dr.Read
Column1List.Add(dr.GetValue(0).ToString().Replace(vbCrLf, ""))
Column2List.Add(dr.GetValue(1).ToString().Replace(vbCrLf, ""))

When the code hits that " While dr.Read" line it will hang there for up to 30 minutes which is just a ridiculous amount of time to advance to the next record, which is what the documentation says is all that is happening here. It only occurs the first time it hits that line...once it gets past it once, it does not hang again as it goes through it's while loop.

Using VB.Net, I am reading an Excel spreadsheet does anyone know what might cause a cell to be read as VBNull when it contains data?the cell clearly contains data. and what is extra weird is all the same cells in the rows before and after the bad one have the little green triangle in the upper left corner, indicating an error - but they all read fine the cell that reads as NULL is the cell in row 4 above

I know how to read user input using textbox but it only can read character and numbers. Is it possible that I want to read user input equation?
Example:
User type A+B
User put range of A and B.
1.25<A< 3.56
2.45<B< 9.87
I failed to read the equation using textbox. Is it there are other ways that can use to read equation input A+B?I am using VS2005 and VB.Net. I really new in this programming using VB.Net.

Is it possible to have a Textbox on a form that when the user inputs data, ( during Runtime )that data remains in the Textbox for good and the Textbox then becomes read only ? Is it also possible to make it so that the CD with the programme on, is in the PC when the programme is being used. Perhaps writing the Textbox data back onto the CD ?

i am retrieving data using data reader. Whenever a null value fetches from the column, the compiler encountering an error. The error occurs when column value contains NULL. I am using Visual Basic 2005.
Please look at the following error which is in red color:

I have a couple of textboxes whose databinding's text is set and also readonly is true and visible is false. but when I try to read their values they are all null unless I turn their visibilty to true. The same method is also needed to add a new row to the table (when using bindingsource1.addnew()).

Im sure this is a very simple and easy to answer question but I've been looking at this too long and being new to ASP I cant seem to find a solution that works.
I have an ASP calendar extender, I click it and the calendar displays as expected, the selected date appears in the textbox, but when the page then posts back I cant get the selected date value from either the textbox.text or the calendarextender.selecteddate properties, I tested this by trying to assign these values to a string variable in the page_load event.

Which is inside a class which overrides a custom list base. The code is occassionaly throwing an unhandled exception, System.NullReferenceException, on this line when used in production:
If _PurchaseDelivery IsNot Nothing AndAlso _PurchaseDelivery.DefaultSKUBinID.HasValue Then
DeafultSKUBinID is declared as an Integer? (Nullable Int) in the PurchaseDelivery class. I cannot see what might be causing this error, why would this be returning an error?
