I want to write a regex to verify inputs. The inputs have the following format:
N. Crystal
O. J. Faucon
A. V. E. David
"^[A-Z. ]*+([a-zA-Z])*$" is not working. How can I match the above examples?
I have several text boxes which a user is supposed to input a numeric value and the program will use an array to verify whether the input in each text box falls within the numeric range allowed for that text box. So one text box will only accept number 3-7 and i'm supposed to create an array that will verify the input in that text box falls within that range. Personally, I would just do:
Dim intInput1 as Integer intInput1 = CInt(txtInput1.Text) If intInput1 >= 3 or <= 7 Then messagebox.show("Input Verified") Else messagebox.show("Input must be a numeric value between 3 and 7") End If
I'm looking for regex to verify a correct domain has been entered into a textbox, it must have http:// conditional www. also must verfiy it has a TLD but must except TLD in this format to: .com.au, co.uk etc etc
Example of the regex i would like to outcome is [URL] or [URL] no trailing text like index.php
I want to select a random space in a string and replace it with a word (%word%) but there is a problem. The position cannot be fixed as i want it to be inserted at a random break. Few things which iam considering :
1)break the string at a space and merge it with the word
2) find a random space and replace it with the word. I like this point and so far all i have is break the selectedtext into string array and then iterate over each line. But i don't know how to find a random string position? Any short and sweet code please?
If (rtfArticle.SelectedText.Length > 0) Then Dim strArray As String() = rtfArticle.SelectedText.Split(New Char() {ChrW(10)}) For Each str3 As String In strArray
How would i get a certain text inside a textbox to equal that text space to space or null to space?
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click If Textbox1.Text.StartsWith(Textbox2.Text + " ") And Not String.IsNullOrEmpty(Textbox2.Text) Then Textbox1.Text = Textbox1.Text.Remove(0, Textbox2.TextLength) Textbox3.AppendText("a") End If
Btw: after i finish this step my project will be finished!
I am having an issue where I am using regex.Replace to replace part of a string. The basic idea is that I want to capture the beginning of the string then replace the end of the string with a value from code. For an example pretend I have a string that says "Test Number " followed by number and I want to increment that number. I capture the "Test Number " but when I try to concatenate that capture with the new number it treats the capture ($1) as a literal and replaces the entire string with $1[new number].
[code]...
This will output "We are on Test Number 2", as expected. how I can use a variable in the replacement string portion of the Regex.Replace when including a captured group?
I am using a picture box. I want to be able to use the Space or Enter key to change the image in it. For that, I try to use the keydown function as follow:
Private Sub ChestWindow_KeyDown(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.Windows.Forms.KeyEventArgs) Handles Me.KeyDown Select Case e.KeyCode Case Keys.NumPad1[code]....
is the function which changes the image. It works well when I press '1' on my numeric part of the keyboard as a test. The issue is that when I press Space or Enter, the form containing the picturebox closes. (I've already put the keyPreview property to True)
I'm creating a program in VB.NET to output multiple images. Some images will have the same file name. If there is multiple files with the same name I want to add "_1_" to the end of the file name. If the "_1_" file already exists I want to increment the 1 to be "_2_". If this file already exists I want to continue incrementing the number ultil it doesn't exist. So for example "filename", filename_1_", "filename_2_", etc. Here is the code that I have tried
I've been working straight since yesterday trying to get this to work. I'm a noob to RegEx and I've tested out about 5 different RegEx "builders" but each of them require you to navigate through the options to build the Regex...each of them has failed when I try to use them.Is there an application out there free/paid where you select the line you want to grab and the RegEx is auto generated from that highlight rather than having to try to build the line of code? [code]
I am making a program that when it starts up you type in your name, lets say you type in "John" and then you click on a picture below your name, and a label below the picture says "Welcome John"
How do I make it say "Welcome John." Even if they do not type in a period when they type their name in the text box?
how to make the program insert a period at the end
I have to increase timeout period.Following is my code.
Private Function GetConnectionInstance() As SqlConnection Dim objConn As SqlConnection Dim strConnection As String strConnection = ConfigurationSettings.AppSettings("conn")
[code]....
What code i have to add in above to increase timeout period.
I've got a function that allows only numeric characters to be entered into a text box. My question is how to alter the code to also allow periods (charcode 46). [Code] but it does not seem to be working (still only numbers allows, periods still not).
So basically, my program is going around the world, and it has come to my realization that certain places use commas instead of periods for decimals points. So herein lies my problem. If the computer's local language is German, then the program will accept commas, but then errors are produced with periods, and vice versa with an American computer. So my question is, is it possible to make the program permanently use periods, and then have a function that can convert any commas to periods?
I'm working on an app and in the textbox field I would like to be able to convert anytime a user would type .36 it would actually change and display 0.36, mainly I want it on the key press of the period just add a zero before it, and I need this to happen on the keydown event.. anyone have any ideas for me on how to do this? This is all I know so far...[code] One last smidget of problem too, I only want this to happen when the user types . in the beginning not if he types 4.22 with the period being after a digit.
Probably another crazy question here, I have my rc car able to move by inputs I make to the keyboard of my laptop, is there a way for my vb code to record those inputs so that I can push a button and it will recreate my inputs?
I am developing an FTP program which: Watches a folder. If a new file is dropped there then upload it. Tells user if uploading and when complete. All the above works, however I wan to add the items to a listbox that are being uploaded. So if I dropped 3 items there it would look like :
Upload Listbox: cake.jpg myExcelFile.xls woot.docxAnd as each one is done, or new files are added it removes them or adds them.
I tried using que, but with no luck as the program just hangs whilst it uploads. So I had a search and looked into multithreading and I tried to implement it, but I can't get it to work as it gives me some 'delegate signature' related error message as you can't pass in values when trying to use 'AddressOf'.
Here is my code for the The .created sub: Public Sub FSystemWatcher_Created(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.IO.FileSystemEventArgs) Handles FSystemWatcher.Created 'if any file created add fullpath to the listbox ChangeLog.Items.Add("Created: " & e.Name) QueueListBox.Items.Add(e.Name) [Code] .....
I am stuck on a homework problem and was wondering if anyone could help out a beginner. The question reads:Calculate the amount of a server's tip given the amount of th bill and percentage obtained via input dialog boxes. The output should complete sentences that reiterates the inputs and gives the resulting tip.
here is what I have so far:
[Code]...
It works fine if I input the tip percentage as a decimal, but I need to be able to input a whole number for the percentage, and in turn, output the correct decimal. I'm sure this is a pretty easy fix,
I've got an ASP.Net application, which starts throwing NUllReferenceExceptions, after a long period of running. The code in question is used early on in each individual session, where we're trying to establish some kind of referrer information. The thing is, I can't fathom out what can throw this exception. The method in question (topmost in the stack trace) is:
I'm trying to put A Period After every 3 Characters In A Combobox. I want the user to be able to type an Ip ie:"255.255.255.255" and every 4th character automatically add a period .I already tried the formatstring no go.
My chemistry calculations program, written in Visual Studio 2008, VB.Net (Win XP), gives completely wrong results when a Comma is used as Decimal Symbol. The calculations are only correct with a Dot (.) as Decimal Symbol. How can I make the calculation results independent of the Decimal Symbol? (Dot or Comma)?(For example Excel calculates correctly with a Dot or Comma as Decimal Symbol)I have found an old thread adressing the same problem, but no simple and easy solution was given.
I need to check commandargs on the entry into an application. The value to check will either contain an ipaddress or a special case of '0' or Zero. I can't use he following because it will throw an exception on a valid ipaddress. What can I use to first determine if the value contains a value of type 10.0.110.65 before I check to see if the value is zero?
I am trying to display a dialog for a period of time. if the user is not present, I want it to close and perform a task. I am using a background worker, which is supposed to simulate a button click. It performs the button click fine, but the dialog never goes away.
Private Sub Backgroundworker_ProgressChanged() Handles BackgroundWorker1.ProgressChanged If Me.BackgroundWorker1.WorkerReportsProgress >= 100 Then
take a shot from a camera every last day of the month at midnight. I know how to to take the shot, but I don't know how to generate an event repetitively after a time period. I thought about to calculate the time between now and the next shot time, but how to run a method after a time period?
