The regex statement below is being used to valid user input for an IP Address.
I want to disallow the ability of a user to type in a domain name (can'tDoThis.com)
How would I change the following statement to NOT allow a user to type in alpha characters.
Dim ipPattern As String = "((2[0-4]d|25[0-5]|[01]?dd?).){3}(2[0-4]d|25[0-5]|[01]?dd?)"

I am in a need of a Regular Expression to restrict input to only certain characters in a text box. The text box can only allow 0 or 1 "+" sign at the beginning and at no other position. The text box can only allow 0 or 1 ":" sign not before the "+" sign. The text box can allow any number of 0-9 digits.

I would like to be able to extract a number from within a string formatted as follows:
"<[1085674730]> hello foo1, how are you doing?"
I'm a novice with regular expressions, I only want to be able to extract a number that is enclosed in the greater/less-than and bracket symbols, but I'm not sure how to go about it. I have to match numeric digits only, but I'm not sure what syntax is used for only searching within these symbols.
I was wondering why some of the implementations were not working. In fact, the only one that did work was the one described by Matthew Flaschen. But that captures the symbols around the number as well as the number itself. I would like to only capture the number that is encased in the symbols and filter out the symbols themselves.

I am wanting to take a string of say the following:
Guiness Harp "Holy Moses"
So that in C# or VB get a match set of:
Guiness
Harp
Holy Moses
Essentially it splits on the spaces unless there are quotes around the spaces, then those words between quotes are considered a single phrase.

This is a related to a previous question I have asked here, see the link below for a brief description as to why I am trying to do this.Regular expression from font to span (size and colour) and back (VB.NET).Basically I need a regex replace function (or if this can be done in pure VB then that's fine) to convert all ul tags in a string to textindent tags, with a different attribute value for the first textindent tag.For example:
<ul>
<li>This is some text</li>
<li>This is some more text</li>[code].....
Basically I want the first ul tag to have no indenting, but all nested ul tags to have an indent of 20.

I need a regular expression that can validate that a string is an alphanumeric comma delimited string.
Examples:
123, 4A67, GGG, 767 would be valid.
12333, 78787&*, GH778 would be invalid
fghkjhfdg8797< would be invalid
This is what I have so far, but isn't quite right: ^(?=.*[a-zA-Z0-9][,]).*$

I need to return everything between the 2 dashes:
"xxx-12345-xxx"
Here's my conditions:
Sometimes the middle part may contain more than 5 characters, so it could look like this: "xxx-12345AB-xxx" Sometimes there's no second dash, so a string could look like this: "xxx-12345"
