I'm trying to develop a program that is executed when I "right click" a folder or file in the explorer. Also would like to have the path of the file or folder clicked on. I know somehow I must add an item to the "Explorter Menu" but don't know how. Then I need the file or directory name that was richt clicked on passed to my program from the explorer, not sure how?
View 13 RepliesI've been going round and round with this and thought maybe someone would know.I've created a program which with process.showdialog calls up a form into which the user enters username and password then is given access to the program itself. If the username and password is incorrect, the program closes.
There is a frmMain and in the form load I've added the process to open this sort of splash login screen. It's not a splash really, it isn't timed to close down.
I fill out the login information, click the save settings checkbox which creates a settings file in MyDocuments. My problem is that in debugging, removing the click closes the login page without the click actually becoming unclicked. The Main program opens before there's been a chance to register the "unclick." Hope this makes sense.

I have a simple program that opens up a text file and changes it and then what I want to do is save a text file when you click the "convert" button to the directory that the exe exists in e.g. "C:UsersBeaudeanDesktop--Distro--" etc. so say I have a richtextbox with the text in it I want to save and a button called "convert", when I click convert it will save it in the programs root folder with the name "main.html" and I also want it to overwrite any file with the same name.

I'm trying to public a VB program and I want to install the program from the same directory I am publishing it to which is a file path of the form P:DirDir. This doesn't seem to be working... In the publishing folder text box I have a file path but it won't allow me to put that same file path in the installation folder text box... and it has brackets (if different than above) over the installation folder text box so that should mean it is not a required text box.. but when I go to publish now it asks for me to put a path in there.

Having difficulty with the module below failing on line 21. It is telling me: The system cannot find the file specified. (Exception from HRESULT: 0x80070002) Basically what it is designed to do is look for a directory, if that exists then look for a file in that directory. If both = True then it should open the folder to browse the files. I believe the issue is with the "Program Files" being 2 words since the script runs using a root path, but I'm not sure how to format the path correctly to make it work?

I am writing a program to do backups and it will have syncing capabilities. It will be similar to Microsoft's SyncToy but it will have much more flexibility and "group" backup options etc.I am using VB.Net 2010 to write the program. The problem I need help with is the efficient comparing of a source file to the destination file when the only difference between a file is the name. (Working on the "Contribute" method of syncing a folder")In other words if I have a backup folder with a bunch of backed up files and folders from a master source folder and I change the name of one of the files in the master folder, but do nothing else to it, how can I tell that the renamed file is the same as the original named file in the destination folder. In this scenario I would want to rename the destination file to the new name it was given in the master folder instead of just copying the renamed file to the back up folder and ending up with duplicate files of different names needlessly.
