I have one tool which we developed on visual studio 2010. there are basically two parts of my project, one is UI part which i wrote in VB and algorithm part which is in C++ on back end. When we compile C++ part it creates a .dll which is used by my front end VB program.
Now my problem is little weird since i am compiling and deploying this tool on windows xp machine but some of the users are using windows 7 64 bit machines and after running the program for about 5-10 minutes, it crashes on windows 7 with following error
Not enough storage is available to process this command and when i view details of that error, i get the following description.
See the end of this message for details on invoking just-in-time (JIT) debugging instead of this dialog box.
************** Exception Text **************
System.ComponentModel.
************** Loaded Assemblies **************
mscorlib
[Code].....
i am completely clue less for this error since this program works fine on xp but doesn't work on windows 7.

I have a button on a web page that I just need a little help with some extra code. I think I need a TRY, CATCH statement?, this is what I have so far: I have a simple web page that has a button which at the moment when pressed enables the user to add data to a DB table via a stored procedure.Once this button is pressed a pop up message box is displayed to let the user know the data has been passed. The user then needs to press the 'OK' button within this message box which then directs them to the home page of the site. This works fine.
The code for this is here:
Protected Sub btnAddRawData_Click(ByVal sender As Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles btnAddRawData.Click
'database conn, this is linked to the web config file .AppSettings
Using dbconnection As New SqlConnection(ConfigurationManager.AppSettings("dbconnection"))
[code]....
As I don't want the user to enter duplicate records in the database (This could be done by the user navigating back to the page where the btnAddRawData_Click is located and pressing it again.), I have created a UNIQUE INDEX named 'DupRecords' to stop the user from commiting this data more than once that day.When I run the web page now I get the following message in my browser:
Cannot insert duplicate key row in object 'dbo.GasRawData' with unique index 'DupRecords'.The statement has been terminated.The solution I think, is to add a TRY, CATCH statement into the btnAddRawData_Click code.

I was convinced that If <expression> Then <statement [:statement]> Else [statements] in concrete form of If a = b Then SayHello() Else SayBye() End has sense. I read article on msdn on If-then-else, but I forgot why I was reading, so I concluded, that snippet above means this
If a = b Then HelloIsSaid : IsNotEnded Else ByeIsSaid : IsEnded But I have tested it now, and I see, that Else without statement is nothing more than decoration. It would be pretty good if it had function I described. Do you think its good request? Or do you know any circumstance where this Else has some function?

I have created a test application to display data in a datagrid, using the Dataset Wizard per the help. All fine - data is displayed.
I then added insert, delete and update queries by selecting Edit Dataset with Designer, selecting the table and adding a query for each action via the TableAdapter Configuration Wizard. In Advanced Options, all boxes are checked, and on the last screen of the wizard it says it has generated SELECT, INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE statements, table mappings, Fill, Get and update methods. The TableAdapter shows four entries: Fill, GetData(); DeleteQuery; InsertQuery; UpdateQuery. On the DataGridView Tasks page, Adding, Editing and Deleting are checked and the data preview shows data.
When I run the application, I can update, add and delete data, but this is not saved.

While studying sample code for vb.net, I put the code in a button click event and need to click the button to see the results. It would be nice to have this code run by adding Button1_Click() to save time but I get an error because of the parameters needed for the Click event.
I get a suggested "Generate Method Stub for Button click event" which is probably a clue to the problem if I had any idea what that means.

I am trying to understand how a for each loop works and am having some trouble. I am trying to create a program that will query a sql database, pull back the information and store it. I currently having it writing to a text file, and would like to take the information (such as name) and compare it to another list where the name is equal. However I am not exactly sure how the for each statement really works. I have looked at numerous sources and it doesn't make since to me as you can probably see from what I have put in here.

I'd rather not go into the detail of the problem, because it's a lot of typing... but the functionality of vb.net (when making a web application) is quite annoying.
This is what it does...Page1.aspx loads, then you push a button on the page, and that button then does this: Response.redirect("Page2.aspx")
But first, it does Page1's load event, then it does the btn.Click event, THEN it does Page2.aspx's load event... Is there a way to force it to not do Page1's load event, and just make it execute the button click, and the page2's load event?

I am converting old VB6 code to VB.NET with ADO.NET (OleDB). This is my query that will create a blank table when ran in VB.NET, but then works when ran directly in Access. This code presumably also works in VB6, as I am using the same SQL:
SELECT qryAsOf.name, qryAsOf.type, 0 as opt, 0 as swap
INTO qryCon
FROM qryAsOf
LEFT JOIN qryLinked on qryAsOf.c = qryLinked.lc
I feel like this has something to do with the left join and select into being together, but like I said it is only VB that has an issue with it, Access handles it perfectly.Without the INTO line, this query returns all 600+ rows.
This DOES NOT WORK:
cm.CommandText = "CREATE TABLE qryCon (etc...)"
cm.ExecuteNonQuery()
cm.CommandText = "INSERT INTO qryCon SELECT ..." '(rest of query above without INTO line)
cm.ExecuteNonQuery
This DOES WORK:
cm.CommandText = "CREATE PROC qryCon AS SELECT ..." '(same select as above without INTO, again)
cm.ExecuteNonQuery
The CREATE PROC that does work is fine, except I need to insert data into it later, so I get errors about how I need an updatable table. I really want the end qryCon to be a table, but I can't seem to get that to work :(
*However, when I do something like this (using the stored proc (renamed) above which, if viewed in Access, is full of data)
cm.CommandText = "SELECT * FROM storedProc"
dr = cm.ExecuteReader
[code]....
This DOES NOT WORK! By the way, I removed the concatenation in the query for readability. It is correct in the actual project.

I have a simple form that has some buttons on it that work fine when the code is for single click. I want to make it so you have to double click to fire the sub. I tried just adding Double to the code but the sub wont fire then.
This works:
Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click
But this doesnt??
Private Sub Button1_DoubleClick(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.DoubleClick
Why? do I need to add something else?
I looked in the properties of the button but didnt see anything.
The problem is that if you click on the button the sub fires, but then if you hit return it fires again. If I could take the focus off the button that would be fine to.

Am I just being blind or does this If statement genuinely not do what it's meant to.[code]This displays the message box even though textSample is one of the letters. In my eyes that If statement should see that textSample is one of those letters and skip it, whereas if it was Z it would "Not" be equal to any of those and would therefore show the message box.
