VS 2008 - Getting An If Statement To Work - When Detects A Form Is Not Open

I'm currently having some trouble getting an If statement to work. I want the statement to do its thing when it detects a form is not open. this might sound a bit confusing this is what i mean:
If Form2.open = false Then
blah blah blah
blah blah blah
blah blah blah

Basically i dont know if im able to have an IF statement occur for when a form is not open and i dont know how to word it.
I was thinking if I can create a code that creates 8 Labels, and each label will show someone's name. The name is not generated, it is randomized. But I Don't want to see 2 same names in 2 different labels. So what I came across is this:
First, I will make an array variable (0 to 8) as String, I will declare each person's name here, the 0 is not used. I Will call this "Names"Second, I'm going to make an array variable (0 to 8) as Boolean. Original State is False. I will call this "Type"Third, I will make another array variable (0 to 8) as Integer, this one is empty. I Will call this "Empty". Original value = false
The Point is that the application will randomize a number between 1 to 8, just say that the randomized number is "x". Then I will take Names(1) and fill it in Empty(x), and set the Type(x) to True, and keep looping. If the application finds the Type = False, then the application will randomize another "x". But after making the code, it seems that the numbers show up the same way everytime I run it. Even with the Randomize() statement.
I have a form that works on my local Machine I created into. I have Office 2007 on this machine. I created the Form with the Excel 12 Reference. I move the Entire conetence of the Project folder to my work computer. Which has Office 2003. Do I need to recreate the form with the Excel 11 reference. I could not get the form to work on work computer. IT has a com error. I am acessing the EXE for the debug folder w/in the Bin Folder.
This is going to be hard to explain but oh well.I have a form with a menu. When I hit option one, it opens another form (form2) inside that same form (mdiparent). I have been working with this for awhile, and I can't get it to work, I have all the correct names where the connection string is, but I just can't get it to work. It is telling me the server does not exist, but I am using a hosted solution that I know is up.

When I check the value of txtRoomCode when the form is loaded for a 2nd time it tells me it is blank, but there is a value in it. I think the fault is in the form_load, but I do not know why.
I'm not quite sure why, but this program doesnt work as intended. It's kind of difficult to explain but if you tried it, it doesn't work properly.

I was convinced that If <expression> Then <statement [:statement]> Else [statements] in concrete form of If a = b Then SayHello() Else SayBye() End has sense. I read article on msdn on If-then-else, but I forgot why I was reading, so I concluded, that snippet above means this
If a = b Then HelloIsSaid : IsNotEnded Else ByeIsSaid : IsEnded But I have tested it now, and I see, that Else without statement is nothing more than decoration. It would be pretty good if it had function I described. Do you think its good request? Or do you know any circumstance where this Else has some function?
I am currently working on an UI form using Visual Studio 2008 - Visual Basic .Net what i find weird is that when i tried to execute my form using the button click function, it doesnt execute until i restart the form.
Here's the situation is like:i have an openfiledialogue [Open button click] to search for a file.After DialogResult.OK is executed, the textfile chosen will then copied to another working directory. The file name will appear onto a textbox1 There will be more than 1 textfile chosen.After all the relevant files are chosen with the file names on textbox1, an OK button click will be clicked to write the file name into a *.bat file.BUT before the OK button is clicked, the user have to select from the radio button which category they want the file name to save into. I'm working through a programming project, which should be quite easy but im stuck right at the start (relatively new to VB). I have a textbox (named textbox1) and a checkbox next to it. I want the checkbox to be ticked (.checked) when ever the value in the textbox is between 1 and 100, the checkbox to not be ticked when theres nothing in there, and for it not to be ticked when the value is < 1 and > 100. Figured a case statement would be the easiest. (this piece of code is just a validation check, basically in the real thing the user would have to enter in a value between 1 and a given number, and need to tell the user if that value is valid).

But what happens is, if I enter in the value 1 in the textbox, the checkbox becomes ticked, as it should. It tick with any values between 2 and 99 (any number not starting with 1) but the checkbox becomes ticked again when the value is 100. For any other range, say 1 to 70, the checkbox would be ticked if the value in the textbox is 1 to 7, or any number starting with 1 or 7, but not 8 or 9, or any number starting with 8 or 9.

i'm having troubles with a linq-to-sql statement and getting a left outer join to work. here is a sample of two tables i'm trying to join and my code that i've wrote.

Instead I'm returning ALL values from table 1. I need to return all values from the left outer join where tbl2.fID is null.
In a WPF application I have specified a class variable with an associated property that will automatically initialise the variable the first time is it accessed.
However after all the values that will be put into it have been added, and the window opens, the if statement that is supposed to check to see if the variable needs initialising appears to get bypassed, and the variable is re-initialised, thus deleting the information that was in there.

Im working with my project. I have a device called PIR (Passive Infrared Resistor), capable of detecting any kinds of movement. I have a small network of PCs and I want build an application in order to manage a database. Every user will have his own instalation on his PC. How can I make those aplication to detect the computers in the network, and to detect and interact with the program installed on the other PCs (update records from the instances installed on other computers, add new records to the database from the other computer etc). Where do I start? Is there any book that specifies that?
