I'm just needing a simple bit of code for vb.net that will allow me to marshal an object into a string, allowing for the saving and loading of this string so I can save my classes, needs to be simple and easy!
I would like to know if there is a way to save the text property of a label or any object when i exit the form. For example, if i type in "hello world" in a text box and exit the program, i want "hello world" to become the new text property of that text box when i exit.
I have an Access 2007 (w/ Vista O/S) project where I use an unbound form, to populate the form I use a DAO recordset to pull the data from the backend table. I want to have the ability to load a project and return the attachments that are only for that particular record. Subsequently, I need to be able to save any attachments to that project record when the 'Save' button is clicked (the files to be saved to the record are user-defined, and therefore not in a particular/ constant folder).
I would like to avoid using OLE objects and streams if possible, but not sure if that's doable. I know how to navigate to the given record, but how do I return the attachments? Also, I've read this article [URL] and a bunch more, including other MSDN articles [URL] and their related links and still not sure how to achieve the desired end result. I've also tried changing the attachment object's (located on the unbound form) controlsource, but to no success.

But if i use this path (process.start("F:WindowsSystem32shutdown.exe -s -p")) to do the work it doesn't work. The path is correct. What to do?
I need to know how create a number that increases every time my main form is loaded. This would go in succession. So the first time after putting this code in it would show the number 1. The second time I open my main form it would show a number 2, and so on.
I been have some research to this forum about the layout setting save & load...one of the method I found is store it to XML...but it only allow to store textbox value, other like textbox location, size is not work.... it can store every control like textbox, button, label, listview and etc in my form include size and layout and allow to load it?
I build my project and i got some problems. First i want to print barcode for books(toolstripmenu item). but i cant. here's the code that i found:
[code..]
second problem is printing again. i want to print my MS ACCESS .mdb from child datagridview's records.
third one i want to save and load(with dialogs) my database from main form to child forms' datagridview.and the last one is help provider. i prepare my own .htm help file, when press F1 it opens. but i dont know how to call provider to toolstripmenuitem and help provider keep my computer's path so when i call provider another computer, the programme cant find the path.
I searched on the forum / Internet for the solution how a PropetryInfo object (of a Public property) can reveal if it has a Private Protected Setter ... it was all in vain .... all help I found was about how to "Set" value of a public property having a Private Setter.I would like to know if I have a PropertyInfo object of a public property, how would I know if its Setter is Non Public?
I tried, in a exception handling block, where I did a GetValue of the PropertyInfo object and then called SetValue by setting the same value back... but to my surprise it worked well and didn error out.
on a Windows Form, an object myObject is bound to myObjectDataBindingSource like this:myObjectDataBindingSource .DatSource = myObject on the form, i have a check box bound to the property: chkProp1 for example of the object: myObjectDataBindingSource In the code when the checkbox is clicked, I need to go in code and change another text property of the object txtProper2 for example like this:
Private Sub chkProp1_CheckedChanged(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles chkProp1.CheckedChanged
I have a listbox of a object called Account, which has 2 fields, password, and username. How can I compare a New Account to all the accounts in the list and see if the password matches?
I know how to handle a single objects property changed event very easily. I want to handle a objects property changed event that is part of another object.
Given Object:
[ObjectY = Y] + Public WithEvents X As ObjectX
I would like to do something like:
Private Sub XPropertyChanged() Handles Y.X.PropertyChanged
Right now I need to create a object that equals the object inside that object and then handle this variable pointers property changed, but that is just annoying.
I'm checking If a border's child property is not set to nothing or equal to a given element, but whenever I run the program, it says that it's set to nothing and crashes. Here's my code:
If Not Me.Child.Equals(Nothing) Then ... If Me.Child.Equals(value) Then ...
Both gives an error. What should I do to pass these lines? Also in C# it would look like this:
if(this.Child != null) ... if (this.Child != value) ...
Imports System.Data Imports System.Data.OleDb Public Class Form1 Dim con As OleDbConnection Dim cmd As OleDbCommand

The insertion part of the form works great. But my problem is in the form load part......If i leave a field blank(Null),then perform Save operation,close the form after successful insertion and then reopen the form,then it retains the previous values during the form load......This is only in case where i leave a field blank in the previous data entry in the database.......But if i enter values in all fields then form load is working great.
I have a class that has a property that I declare like this:
VB.NET Private _DirectoryList As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo) ''' <summary> ''' Array of directories. ''' </summary> ''' <value>Object</value> ''' <returns>Directory array list</returns> ''' <remarks>N/A</remarks> Public Property Directory As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo) Get Return _DirectoryList End Get Set(ByVal value As List(Of FileDirectoryInfo)) _DirectoryList = value End Set End Property
After reading all the examples for list of T exists and Find and find first, none show how to handle multi-property objects. Below is bare bones example maybe someone could flesh out to show how this should be done.
Public Class Form1 Private Sub Button1_Click(ByVal sender As System.Object, ByVal e As System.EventArgs) Handles Button1.Click Dim DatePriceList As New List(Of DateAndPrice) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/1/2000"), 10.12)) DatePriceList.Add(New DateAndPrice(Date.Parse("1/2/2000"), 11.12))
I upgraded a working VB.net windows application from VS2008 to VS2010 (a fairly simple form to process some data) and I get 15 warnings "Load of property 'X' failed" where 'X' refers to what looks like system variables like OutputType, StartObject, RootNamespace, AssemblyName, Option Explicit and so on. I also get two errors pointing to the Form1.Designer.vb file which I is the DesignerGenerated file saying that "My' is not a member of '<Default>'Originally I just used the upgrade wizard, resulting in these warnings. Next I tried creating a new project and adding the relevant files using the VS "Add Existing" function. I have also looked for answers in the forum and on-line but found none. This has got to be something simple I am overlooking.
I've created a custom control in VB.NET on .Net 3.5, in VS2008, which contains a load of custom properties, including RSS feed address, proxy address and proxy port.This control is an RSS ticker, which works really nicely, but doesn't initially run at all, and from stepping through my code, this is because none of my properties are being passed data from the containing form, until after the control has been initialised, and the code behind the control has run. The code (relevant bits) looks as follows:[code]
I am trying to use the .tag property of a button to store some data about the button (the index of the button in a FlowLayoutPanel) I have set an application setting attribute on the property, but it doesn't get retrieved when I restart the program. Is there a way to do this?
Ultimately, I'd rather save the index order for the FlowLayoutPanel, but I don't think that is possible either.
I have a qeustion where i made a function that changes the property value of an object. the objects + alias are stored in an array (Objects()) , if the var (NewValue) has a value then it checks the property type and converts the Newvalue and inputs it.
I'm currently writing a HMI for an automated machine in VB.Net 2010. I have a custom class that turns a Border green or red depending on the value of an input on a remote I/O module.
The connection to the remote I/O module is through a COM object provided by the manufacturer. I have three remote connections, lets' call them g1, g2, and g3. They're of type Manufacturer.ConnectionObject.
I would like to specify, using a property that I can set in XAML, that instances of MyCustomBorder use g1, g2, or g3. Unfortunately, setting up a Property called g and typing 'g1' into the property field results in the message "Property value is not valid. Details: Property 'g' does not support String to Value conversion."
[code...]
I need to implement a converter between String and the custom class, Manufacturer.ConnectionObject, but I have no idea how to accomplish this, especially since Manufacturer.ConnectionObject is part of a closed-to-me COM object.
I want to create a class that inherit from a polygon this is not possible because the polygon is not inheritable. I want to create a class that handle a polygon anyway and it behave like a polygon. Wile with the property i can pass the value from the class to the polygon but if I want to do something like
