Search AD With Textbox Value And Return Results As Datatable?

Currently I have a gridview bound to a datatable which is populated with groups from the AD. I need to be able to add search functionality so users can type in part of a group name and have the results display only groups that fit their search criteria.
Here's what I have so far.

The following code works just fine:

What is the best vb.net based search method that would permit me to search for i.e. "Sheet2" and be able to obtain "Cats"? I attempted to ascertain the index number of "Sheet1" with:
Dim SheetArrIndex As Integer = Array.IndexOf(wksSheetNames, "Sheet1")
Then obtain the value "Cats"
wksSheetNames(SheetArrIndex, 1)
But I received an error message:
Code Line ->>>> "Dim SheetArrIndex As Integer = Array.IndexOf(wksSheetNames, "Sheet1")"
Error msg ->>>> "Only single dimension arrays are supported here.:
Obviously I do not know how to Search and Return the results of a 2D array.

I (think I) want to develop a custom control for my program in VB .net where I type into a textbox and simple search results will then be displayed underneath it (from a predefined set of items). Like auto suggest in google search.I believe the combobox does something similar to this but I think it only works on prefixes.At the moment I have a separate search form from which I use to filter a lot of possibilities and then use drag-and-drop to get the desired item into a TextBox.So ideally I want to combine this with a TextBox into which one can start typing at which point some results will be displayed and a user can select the item they want. (Say, an item from a list of products)

I'm trying to gather some WMI data, search that data and depending on the results change the color of a textbox and append some text.I can acheive this using a select statement but was hoping there is a more elegant solution as what I have generates a lot of similar code At the moment, the WMI data contains two properties I'm interested "State" and "ReplicatedFolderName". The"State" value determines the color and text that goes in the text box, however there are different textboxes for each replicated folder name.What I have which works is

I've created a basic search form. I have a textbox with a search button and an Access Database as the backend. I have also added it as a new datasource. What I'm looking to do is grab the search string from one textbox and return the data to another textboxt. I have a table called "VehicleInfo" and I want to search the field in my table called "VehicleID" and return the vehicleID I searched for into another textbox. I'm really new to VB. I understand databases and basic code structure, I just don't have a good grasp yet on how these two work together.

I have sucessfully written in excel VBA. The idea is to used the textbox1_change event to find a match in column A of table and once it finds the record, return the value of column B as label1.text. [code] In VB 2008 it's a lot different. I have set up the form the same way with the textbox and labels. I have made a dataset with (1) table (Table1) with (2) columns. Lets call them column A and Column B.I have added the dataset as a binding source to the form and also a table adapter. I also have a standardized query made for the dataset with a very simple SQL statement "SELECT Column A, Column B from Table1"..In order to get the user input to start searching Column A I assume under the textbox_change event i would put something like: [code] I'm getting a bunch of errors of course. Once it is found, I want to return the line number it was found on.
Also, I would like to know how to delete all blank lines from a TextBox.

I would like to create a vb form with a combo box (with song title), a text box (for song lyrics), and a button (to submit or refresh). It is linked with an access database. The combo box is populated with the songTitle field in the db (this part works fine). The text box is populated with the lyrics that go to that song The first updates fine but I can not figure out how to run a query to pass to the text box's text property. I want the user to be able to select a song from the combo box, click the button, and have the text box populated with the new song's lyrics.
Any suggestions on how to accomplish this, or a good place for a tutorial that explains the necessary elements for having vb query a database and return the results?

I have been trying to get the Alert Code from my printer at work to see what exactly is happening however each time I send an SNMP query it doesn't return any results. I am using SimpleSNMP references. The printer is a Canon iR-ADV C5045.
This is how I call the function:

I was told that to return the search to an array, I add the return toarray() at the end.
Now obviously Im not getting errors, but I am also not polling the results that are in fileslist.toarray(). I've looked at arrays quite a bit, I see their functionality if they are defined like myarray(4) with 5 declared array values... its an array with 5 value places. And to read from any one of the 5, you'd say something like msgbox(myarray(3)) to call the 3rd place in the array.
Well, as you can tell from the code, I am putting a variable amount of information into the array, How can I call that information? If I scanned a folder with 300 files, how can I call the results of that array and put them in a text file, or console, or messagebox through them? And assume I am doing it through a button click event. So, button click to read all input in the array to console or something like that.

I'm using Visual Studio 2005, and I have a datagrid connected to a table from an Access database.
I added 4 textboxes so the user can type search filters to search within the table and a "search" button.
Then, I created a query using the "add query" tool on the datagrid. I wrote it like: select field1, field2, field3, field4, field5, field6 from table where field1=? and field2 like "%"+?+"%" and field3 like "%"+?+"%"
and field4 like "%"+?+"%"
Both field5 and field6 aren't search criterias, so I didn't add them to the query. Once the query was created, I replaced the parameters inside the procedure with my textbox1.text, textbox2.text, textbox3.text, textbox4.text and then cut and pasted the whole thing inside my SEARCH button click event, so the query is executed when the user clicks on the button.
Now the problem is: when I search using the first field it goes ok, but when I try to search by any of the other fields it returns zero results, even though I double-checked I had written the words correctly. I don't know why it does this. I already tried deleting the datagrid and creating it again.[code]...

I am developing an ASPX web page to return results from two SQL stored procs via VB. When I execute these two stored procs, they both return valid data. But for some reason, when I run this report it doesn't return any errors, however, it doesn't return any records/data either!
Also, I can't debug it for some reason, although I can set breakpoints! This is using VS 2008, but I think reason I can't debug is I believe this is a limited version that just works for SSRS and SSIS.

Could the problem be due to the fact that this web page uses the same SQL connection for both stored procs? The first proc should be returned initially, and the second proc after this screen. So I don't need both stored procs information simultaneously, so I would think I could reuse the same SQL connection.
OK, I found where the problem is located. If I just comment out the Level statement in the Where clause, it does return data. So only thing I changed was that one line in my SQL code and it works. This means missing data must be due to datatype incompatibility, no? What is the problem?

[code] BUT, in code, watching the locals window for rec.EOF and rec.BOF both return true and therefore no results.Why does this work in VB Query Designer but not in code? If I remove the WHERE statement than the results return fine as expected.But its returning ALL of the results which is no good.

I have been having an issue with returning records from a SQLServer database where the date the record was created is between 2 user specified dates. When I populate the DataGridView with the results, they are incorrect and do not follow any recognisable pattern.
For example, if I specify the dates 05/05/2010 and 12/05/2010 I get the attached data in the DataGridView.

I'm using visual studio 2010 and sql server 2005 to store my data. I'm creating a system that will allow me to find/search for records that are stored within the database. Thing is, i have 2 separate forms for this - one is the find/search page which allows you to enter in as many fields as you want (the more you enter, the more efficient the search is) and the second one is the find/search results page which will show the results from the search.
I'm not using a datagrid as i've already created these forms myself. I'm on a tight schedule because i've spent so much time already trying to get this to work. Do i need to create another dataset and tableadapter and bind the text boxes? how will i code the find/search button so the search will be carried out and the results will appear in the other form?

i'm working with a sql (2005) database and using visual studio 2010. I've created a system where one of the forms is a find/search form. A user can enter in for example, a customerID and once they click on "find/search" the customerID will be searched in the database and if found, all relevant information about the customer will be retrieved and displayed in another form (find/search results page). I realise that this can be done using an SQL statement like follows
searchStr = "SELECT * FROM Customer WHERE CustomerID LIKE CIDTextBox.Text%"
What i'm unsure about is how to execute this SQL statement once the "find/search" button has been clicked and how to display the founded results in another form.

I have a search page, which iam using to search the database fields which holds the technical articles. The fields that iam searching are varchar(max).
Everything is fine..., I want to show the results with the first found instance of searched keywords in bold and some 70 to 100 chars before and after.
