One of them is a MySQL server, one will have a vb.NET program wich will act as a "second server" and the rest will be different clients. i have a task to create a TCP Server (a program that is listening on its network card interfaces for incoming data stream).I have search on the internet and i found that i can use two methods : Socket or TCPListener class.I have created an example for Socket class, but i wondering how could i test it? I need to check that if another computer in the network send some string data to the listener computer , then this message should be displayed.Here is the example from microsoft that i am using for TCP Server using Socket:

But it does not work because of the PORT setting.If in the TCP Server i have "Dim localEndPoint As New IPEndPoint(ipAddress, 0)" the client crashes, but if i change the port from any (0) to 11000 for example,the client works fine.Do you know why?

I have Visual Studio 2008 Professional and I'm trying to make it so I can click a button to send the application to the System Tray and then click the icon in the System Tray to make the application come back.

For A, I do not have the source code, for B I do.What I need is to create some service/program that after a screen pops up from program A, automatically runs B. IN other words, capture the moment a specific screen is shown in A and execute B.
My real life scenario is that I have a very basic POS where I can't collect customer demographics ( zip code, etc), so I created a second application to capture that but my cashiers are always forgetting to run the program and I need to find a way to run it after a screen is shown ( let's say the "Change Due" in the POS, so they don't forget to run it.
I want to create a program that will send data across my network to another computer. The data will be taken and used as sort of a command for the computer to load a webpage, or whatever I decide to do with it. I was familiar with the winsock control in Vb6.

For example, the Fire form will instruct employees that they need to evacuate the building, the Tornado form will instruct employees that they need to go to the basement, etc. I have the forms created where they will display over my own computer when I run the application. I have also figured out how to get the list of computers from Active Directory. Now I am stuck. How do I make the form display on another network computer? Does anyone know how to do this?

I have a .NET 2.0 *.dll that calls My.Computer.Network.Ping(). The *.dll is then run out of an *.exe via AppDomain.CreateDomain() and Invoke(). The problem is that this works just fine under Windows XP but under Windows 7, I get an exception saying that no network connection is available. I tried the Ping() call out of a small console application under Windows 7 and it works just fine.

I'm thinking about how I'm going to connect a computer to a projector and I came to think if it is possible to send a live stream of a computers screen to another computer via for example TCP or some other protocol. It must be possible since for example TeamViewer and other long-distance IT-support applications can do this. The thing is that I dont have a clue about where to start. And is it difficult to output the stream once it's recieved?

I am using the EmailMessage to send email message(s) from my local computer. I am also using the SMTP server of my ISP and generally it works just fine. However, some of the emails are never delivered to the destination (bouncing emails) and i get "Mail Delivery failed: returning message to sender" How do i check if the message can be delivered rather than receive the "returning message to sender"? Should i check the destination email server? I have no idea from where to start actually.

I can set pixels by using the following code, where intX and intY ade dimensioned as integer and &HFF00 is the Hexadecimal for red.

After I finish plotting all the points I want to clear the screen back to all black or white or any predifined color. I was able to do this in earlier versions of Visual basic by using "CLS" but this is not available in the current version. how to clear the screen? Should I use one of the earlier versions (.NET Framework2.0, .NET Framework 3.0, etc, etc)?

View 2 RepliesWhy does my VB.Net Project disappear instead of giving an error message?This only started happening recently, but when debugging with Visual Studios instead of getting errors, the program just closes as though the stop button was pressed. This doesn't happen for all error types but it consistently happens if there is some sort of casting error. This is an overly simplified example, but the lines below would cause a program to vanish as soon as they run. Dim i As Integer i = "A" One other interesting part of this is that if that was in a try catch block the error would be caught instead of closing the program.I'm in an office setting so I've been able to test a number of configurations and have found that this problem only affects Windows XP PCs, but not Windows 7. And it consistently happens with Visual Studios 2010 Professional and Ultimate, Visual Studios 2008. Besides that we apparently we all need Windows 7.

I've tried editing code from the solution and the project. Both produce the error. Usually occurs when adding an "IF...Then..." condition. May work for hours but then crash.
