I'm running the string on "Can I run a VB.net application on a website"Nothing seem to work after trying to install web developer, it would not install. So i uninstalled VB express and tried to install Visual Studio 2008 which did not successfully install so I tried 2010 and still nothing. Why am I having problems installing Visual studio? Also I cant install windows xpsp3? error messages says not compatible?
I was just wondering if anyone had come across this issue before or anything. I just downloaded Visual Studios 2008 professional trial version (ISO) and when I try to run it or open it, I get a "The operation could not be completed. Access is denied." message. I tried doing everything.I disabled my antivirus, uninstalled a previous version of VS 2008, I still get this message.
The program consists of a datagridview with data loaded from our sql server.Once in a great while, the up and down arrows on the scroll bar will be blanked out and I am not able to click on them. When I try scrolling using the scroll bar, the datagridview is resized instead of scrolling.
NOTE: This isn't a program I wrote, just one that I'm using. It was developed with VB 2005 Express, framework 2.0.
I realize this post is rather long, but I wanted to give all the information up front instead of people having to ask me for more information. At the end of the re-installation of Visual Studio 2008, there is this message:
"Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard: [2] Error: Installation failed for component Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard. MSI returned error code 1638" in the log file dd_error_vs_procore_90.txt.
I have searched on Google for this whole message and found some references to this error, but I have done what they said worked for them and it did not fix the problem for me.When I searched for just "MSI returned error code 1638", I got that it cannot install something because it is already installed:"Another version of this product is already installed. Installation of this version cannot continue. To configure or remove the existing version of this product, use Add/Remove Programs on the Control Panel".In Add/Remove Programs I see these two programs:
Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.3 Microsoft SQL Server Database Publishing Wizard 1.4
Are these programs/versions what the error is refering to? Am I safe to remove them and depend on the similarly-named item which would be newly installed with Visual Studio 2008 - "Microsoft SQL Publishing Wizard"? I still use SQL Server 2000 and 2005 on my computer, as well as 2008. I had installed VS 2008 on my computer before without this problem and also have VS 2005 and 2010.
The full error text is as follows: The Visual Studio language support for VB has not been installed. Code-editing IntelliSense will not be available. Markup IntelliSense for server controls may not work.
I am using Visual Studio 2008 Professional Edition. Visual Studio crashed yesterday and now I'm getting this error when I try to edit any code-behind in any project.I have tried resetting all environment settings and that didn't work.I have tried repairing my installation via add/remove programs and that didn't work.
I have tried reinstalling SP1 and that didn't work.I tried creating a new VB Windows project and received the following error: Project "TestVB" could not be opened because the Microsoft Visual Basic 2008 compiler could not be created. Please re-install Visual Studio. However, I already tried the repair/reinstall.
I'm not sure what else to try beyond a full uninstall/reinstall, and I'm hoping somebody has encountered and fixed this problem without having to do that.UPDATE: I have tried uninstalling Visual Studio, rebooting and then installing again and that didn't work. I am now out of options and really need my VB environment restored.
I found that this answer was asked and answered before VS2010 was actually released.[code]to a .NET Framework 4.0 project in Visual Studio 2010 and it does not compile.Do you now if this feature is really implemented and what I am doing wrong?
I originally installed the 90 trial of Visual Studio 2008 Professional on my computer running on Microsoft Vista home Preferred. I later purchased a key and registered Visual Studio.Subsequently I upgraded from Vista to Windows 7 Professional which required a custom installation. I used the Easy Transfer program which was to save my program settings and data files and then reinstalled Visual Studio.
Now, when I run Visual studio the "Help/About" screen gives me a message that I am using the trial version. When I press the "Upgrade" button I get a Microsoft page with not aclue as to the subject. If I click "Help/Register" I go to the site with the details of my previous registration and after that I get a "Rhank you for registering" message. After that I still have the message that I am using the trial version.
I have created a project in VS2003.Net under VisualC++.-->Windows32 Application. I have to make an executable file that I will be able to run from different machine. The purpose of this file is to read some files that are in a particular directory. I will run the VSC++ .exe file from this folder. So I have to use some code to get the currentdirectory(directory where the current exe file is existing). After getting the directory, I have to find all the files in this directory that has an extension of .config.

How exactly do you copy the content of a .rar/.zip file (from your resources) to an archive in the computer? (.jar - Java Archive)I mean without deleting existing data on the .jar file already. I use this code currently. The TestArchive is a .zip file, and when I press the button, it extracts the content of TestArchive to the .jar arhive, but deletes everything that was already inside the .jar archive.[code]...

WebMatrix is a web development and deployment tool by Microsoft so how is this compared to Visual Studio? which Use C# Razor Syntax is that more better coding.
Just started a new project and was kind of bummed out that instead of creating interface Im forced to spend quite large amount of time creating objects, INSERTs,UPDATEs.. that kind of thing. Mainly because it's booring. Anyway, I was wondering if there are tools in VS2010 for visual basic that would allow someone to generate clases and INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE stored procedures based on database structure OR creat INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE procedures and database structure based on class structure.
I am working on a Visio Addin in VS2010 Professional and am looking for hot spots (specifically around a COM object) while debugging the application. I have found a number of profilers that can profile existing .NET applications, but none of which (that I have seen) support debugging. Further more, because this is a .NET add-in rather than a full standalone executable I'm not sure how they'd fair. [code] Has anyone found a profiler that can be used during a VS2010 debug session?
