Sending Email To Multiple Recipients Via Process.Start?
Mar 29, 2009
I'm attempting to send an email to multiple recipients, via the System.Diagnostics.Process.Start() command. The string I'm using looks like this...
System.Diagnostics.Process.Start("mailto:Test1 <test@nowhere.atall>; Test2 <test2@nowhere.atall>;")
The first email shows up correctly in my email program (Windows Mail in this case), but the second email does not show up. If I get rid of the brackets that separate the email from the recipient name (getting rid of the recipient name from the string), then both email addresses will load without problems. It's only when the brackets are included that the problem occurs. I've tracked the specific problem spot to the closing bracket on the first email name. For some reason, everything that follows the closing bracket is ignored.

I'd like to ask if sending email to multiple recipients in vb.net is possible?
What I mean here is I want to create a program that sends email to multiple recipients, unlike the usual program which the email address , the subject and other email attributes are hard coded, what I want is hopefully the email address, message body, is came from the database.
So basically if i will going to call a form to send the email, it will fetch the data from the database server providing me a list of recipients and their other details.

I am sending an email using VS2010 VB which works fine, except I would like to have the recipient see their name in lieu of their email address upon receiving the email. I've tried different 'To' addresses, ([URL]), but nothing seems to work. It always shows the email address when received.

I made a email sender, and the problem I'm having is that the others can see who else I sent it to. Which I do not want to happen. I want them to see only their email and that's all. No one elses.

I am using the System.Web.Mail.MailMessage class to send emails from a web server hosted by an ISP. I am aware that this is an effectively obsolete approach that has been replaced by System.Net.Mail.MailMessage and I have used the latter in other circumstances but my ISP does not support it.The documentation suggests that the System.Web.Mail.MailMessage class supports multiple recipients in .To, .Cc and .Bcc provided that the email addresses are separated by semicolons but, as soon as I increase from one to two email addresses with semicolon,it fails to send the email to either recipient.

This works:
Dim mm As New MailMessage("from@emailaddress.com", "to@emailaddress.com")
This doesn't:
Dim mm As New MailMessage("from@emailaddress.com", "to@emailaddress.com;metoo@emailaddress.com")
Using the MailMessage to send an email from my app, how do I specify multiple recipients?

Using system.net.mailmessage I send emails to three people, myself included, once I run an import on a file. I save the email addresses in my app.config file and then add them to the mailmessage like this:[code]Now I need to BCC two people. What's the best way to accomplish this? should I add another mailaddress or can I add them to a comma seperated list. does .net 2008 use , or ; as delimiters.

I am trying to Send an Email with an attachment (using Gmail) but I keep getting errors like "Operation Timed out" or Failure Sending Email". It was working earlier today but I found out that i needed to add Using statement because the email was having a file open that had to be deleted after it was sent but afterwards it doesn't work.
Here's what I have (Portion of it):
Private Sub SendMailOneAttachment(ByVal un As String, ByVal pass As String, Optional ByVal smtp As String = "smtp.gmail.com")
Using oAttach As Net.Mail.Attachment = New Net.Mail.Attachment((Environment.GetFolderPath(Environment.SpecialFolder.LocalApplicationData) & "\" & My.Computer.Name & "_" & fName & " .zip"))
Dim client As SmtpClient = New SmtpClient(smtp)
[Code] .....
The ports are correct I believe, no firewall up on my PC...

I'm using Process.Start to start an external command line application and using the StartInfo.Arguments method to send parameters to the application. I imagine I'll need to use a loop... but I can't figure out exactly how yet.I need to send anywhere from 1 - an infinite number of files names to this application. Each file has to be sent one after the other. So once the first one is done, I need to loop back around and past the second one.I can probably use the Directory.GetFiles method to get all of the files, but I don't know how to assign them.

I have an application (application #1) running with Administrator privileges on Windows 7.
I want application # 1 to start another application (application #2) without Administrator privileges so application #2 is running as a standard user.
Is there a way to do this? I have been using Process.Start.

Here's what I currently have:
[Code]...
I've commented out various things to limit it to specifically this command (example, I can swap mklink out with notepad and it works fine). The command runs fine from a DOS window, but can't be found when I use it this way. I also tried using the SHELL command just to test and I get the same results. No idea why it can't be found, as like I said it executes from the command prompt just fine.

What I want is to be able to launch an email from VB in the same way that MAILTO: does from a browser. ie. it launches an email from whatever the deault client is.One of the posts on here (linked from the FAQ) mentioned to use MAPI, but the problem is that I can't figure out which 'imports' I need to use.
Googling around I can find lots of excamples of MAPI code, but none mention the imports. If I just paste the code into my VB form it just says that the names are not declared.Another post indicated that these weren't functions from an import, but rather I had to add a MAPI componant of some kind from the toolbox onto a form - but I can't find any MAPI things in the toolbox either...

My app starts an On-Screen Keyboard process like this:
Dim PID as System.Diagnostics.Process
:
PID = Process.Start("C:WindowsSystem32osk.exe")
:
[CODE]...
It seems to work 90% of the time. However, sometimes the PID.Kill() fails because it says the process already exited. At this point the OSK is always still there on screen. Yes, I know my code should be testing to see if the process is still running before trying to kill it, but given that the OSK is still on screen..

I have a program that starts another program after setting the regkeys basically the program continually syncs the calandar of outlook and another application.I set the regkeys than launch the c:sync.exe app. I have tried a simple process.start and launching the process as a thread and they both do the same thing: The other process starts and works as it should but my main program goes "White screen" or "not responding" until the process.start has exited.
I want the process.start to run in the background so if users click in my main app it responds and truly that they can access the context menu of my main app from the taskbar while the process.start is running.
