View 3 RepliesI'm working with a custom system.windows.forms.WebBrowser control. I need to be able to fetch the html of the link that is beneath the mouse pointer. I've reasearched the Internet and found a promising method to carry out this task. The suggested method is to use mshtml.IHTMLCaret to get the cursor position then use IMarkupPointer to get the element in the current scope. I've scoured the Internet looking for an example of how to carry out the task using the method outlined above but have been unsuccessful. I've tried to figure it out myself using intellisense on mshtml, again - unsuccessful.
I've been stuck on this for 2 days now and I have to admit at this point that Do any of you have experience with using mshtml that get past this issue? Or do you know a another way to carry out the task?
I am writing a program that will search the hard drive for particular files. Once it's done, I'd like the results to display like a folder. For example: If I looked for log files in c: and c:Windows, I would want to put those files in a 'virtual directory' and be able to manipulate them -- as you would in Windows Explorer.
The only thing I can think of that is similar is the search companion, but this software must be compatible with Windows 7.
I know it is possible to display a real folder (i.e. c:windows) in the webbrowser control, but can you have your own virtual directory and only view files that you want in it?

im working on a kiosk machine with a web based interface (basically the application is just a browser with few added thingy for UI), one of the security that i was trying to implement is to allow that page to be viewed only from my application (which could be done by sending a custom HEADER and check it on the page), did asked the same question back in Dec 6 2003 post (vb6), and was able to make it work by using Navigate with the custom header, but this slows down the loading since itll have to be re-rendered each time i go to a page they say BeforeNavigate2 should do the trick sending the custom header on each page, but it isnt sending.

I want to do a similar thing, except i have a vb.net code behind the .aspx file, which shall give me a list of URL's called form the database. When the page is loaded the URL's are displayed on it. what i need my code to do is to pick up these URL's, on the background open a web browser, take a snapshot of it and save it, and display it on the screen. dont recommend IFrames cause I need a snapshot and not an actual running site in the small snapshot.

I am writing a few web based apps which will require a webbrowser extension. I have already used the IE webbrowser control that uses the trident web rendering engine. I believe this is MSHTML.DLL? Anyway, some of the users of my programs have complained of a few things. Particularily,
1. It seems to be a slow browser, at least compared to other rendering engines out there (webkit and gecko are 2 known ones).
2. On the developer side, it seems to be low in features. The features are sufficient in most cases, but there are some "special" things that I need.
3. It has VERY low HTML (and especially HTML5) compliance.
My question is, how much work would it take to use a different engine (such as webkit .net, which I HAVE heard of) and be able to distribute it easily. Or, if you guys feel ambitious, we could try writing a brand new engine ourselves. I know how big of a job it is, and frankly, I have no clue where to begin. I would just like your thoughts and opinions on the matter.
i have created an app to load an access database into a datagridview, which contains web urls. When button is clicked it webbrowser1 navigates to each url and each webpages document.inertext is put into textbox. This all work fine but after a while the webbrowser navigation becomes increasingly slower.

I am using custom textboxes and I need to be able to set the Text on txb1 based on the Text of txb2. I have simplied my code to the following:

So, when txb1 looses focus, if its Text is "fried", then it sets off txb2's ProcessAlert function. I had tried to change the value of txb2 Text in ProcessAlert function, but didnt work, so I tried to get it to raise an event instead, which then tries to set the Text property. However I still cant set txb2's Text property. The Text property seems to be set for the duration of the "life" of the Event handler. When I step through the forms controls within the Event handler, the changed Text value is there, but not outside of the Event handler.
Ive tried to edit option on the webbrowser control, example javascript enable/disable. but found out that it uses IE's option and cannot be changed.So my question is: Is there a way to do a "webbrowser" without using the WEbbrowser control that is based on internetexplorer? If it is, can i change option example flash and so on?

I know how to set it, and have basic commands like copy paste cut back forward stop etc, but I want to have custom right click options when clicking a link, and custom options when clicking an image like having the option to save the image or copy it. How would I achieve this?
