I have a database table that stores a datetime value.I want to display that value on my asp.net textboxes, except I need to show date value in TextBox A and Time in TextBox B.How can I split those values in VB.NET?

View 2 RepliesI am attempting to import data in a batch from an Excel Worksheet to a Sql Server database. Everything works except for the one date field in the spreadsheet. The date returned is off by four years from the value in the spreadsheet. Example: The Excel sheet has a date 10/24/2010 14:18, but when I look at the column in my query, the date is 10/23/2006 2:18. This pattern, 4 years and 1 day earlier, is repeated for every row in the worksheet.
The Excel column comes to me as a custom type, formatted m/d/yyyy h:mm. I receive this from an outside vendor and having them change the column is not going to be my simplest solution.
For what it's worth, the relevent part of the query is:

I have a Date time picker on a vb.net 2005 form called dtDateOfbirth. When I click on the save button I get the error message "Conversion from string 'yyyy/MM/dd' is not valid. Below is the code

View 4 RepliesI have a solution in VS 2010: a WCF Service Library project ("NotifyService") and two Windows Forms projects, one for a server ("NotifyServer")and one for a client ("NotifyClient"). My goal is to have a duplex WCF service that will notify any number of connected clients when the server pushes out a notification. The clients do not need to communicate to the server except to subscribe and unsubscribe from the server's updates. However I seem to be running into problems nailing down the InstanceContext.

Since I'm setting everything up through code, there are no app.config files. The problem I'm having is that my Subscribe method is never called. When debugging, I get an error after stepping through that line (not an exception) that says "Unable to automatically step into the server. The debugger failed to stop in the server process." When I go back to my server form and click the button designed to raise an event on the callback clients, it steps into the NotifyService class but the _callbacks list is empty, meaning the Subscribe method either never ran, or it never ran on that instance.
I have fought with this for almost a week. This is nearly an identical copy, at least on the service-side, to what was described here, and I've compiled that and it works.

I'm importing some data from MySQL into a VB.NET application with .NET charts. At the moment, the chart is plotting points by date, which means that when you zoom in, each major tick mark simply displays the date.It would be better to change these dates to times (hours) when one zooms in.Presumably there's a parameter to do this, but I can't find it.

The problem is that there is one column in my access database that is formatted as date/time however the only values in the access is time. When I display this table in the DataGridView, it adds this random date from years ago in front of that time. How do I reformat this DataGridView column to only display the time and not the date?

I'm trying to create an auction site using asp.net. My auction's start date & time and end date & time are stored in my sql server 2008 r2 database as datetime types. I'm using vb.net. I'm trying to create a select statement in which I can query the date and time portion relative to the current date and time (so as to only display current ongoing auctions). I can successfully query the date portion using the Date.Now function, but the time is giving me a hassle. DateAndTime.Now doesn't work. I've even tried to separate the time and date in the database, but I still can't get an effective query. Here are two examples of code which I've tried:

SELECT col1, col2 FROM table1 WHERE colDate = @date
The source of @date is a label with the text: 2009-05-29 12:06:00 I get the following error when I run the query:
Conversion failed when converting date and/or time from character string
I tried using convert(datetime, @date), as well as different date/time formatting of the label itself. Everytime I get the error.
However, when I run the query in the management studio like:
SELECT col1, col2 FROM table1 WHERE colDate = '2009-05-29 12:06:00'
I found out that the @date is parsed as 05-29-2009 01:30:00 TT I don't know where the TT is coming from? And I'm sure SQL Server wouldn't be able to handle it?

I'm updating an old VB net application and trying to refactor some of the logic as I go. The app looks for data from a single date across a few tables and writes that view to a file.
Writing the query in SQL I'd get the equivalent of
SELECT * FROM table
WHERE CAST(FLOOR(CAST(table.date AS float))AS datetime) = '15-Jul-2010'
Ideally I'd use
SELECT * FROM table WHERE date=@input
and add a date object as a parameter to a System.Data.SqlClient.SqlCommand instance
Are those two comparable? Will I get the results I expect?
I am using VB 2008 and want to record a start date and time and then the stop date and time in a rich text box, i can get the start time into the box but so far can only stop the time instead of 2 seperate times, what i have is a drop down box with a list of computers 1-10 i was trying to get it so you picked a certain computer and that went into the text box then you started the timer and that was recorded, finally you stopped the timer and that was recorded but as i am a total newbie it does not work
